LOST - Season 2 (No spoilers)

Libby is on the floor and there is a large amount of fluid (I'm assuming blood) flowing from her. Enough fluid to run all the way to where Michael is standing. So if it is blood, there is enough of it that she is dead. The only other thing I can think of, is Libby had a bottle of wine under the blankets and that is the fluid running on the floor (since her and Hurley had talked about wine).

I think Libby told Hurley to go see Rose about the wine.

Your post made me think of something I saw happen just after Michael shot Libby. There was this sudden sprinkle of water coming from the ceiling. It was so weird.

I saw that too.

I saw that too! It was like a pipe was leaking up above. Strange.

I remembered something too. Last season on Lost, when Sawyer went to Sydney to kill the real Sawyer, he went to a bar and met Jack's dad there. I wonder if that is the same day that we saw last night or a different day.

That wasn't blood or fluid. It was Michael's shadow. I thought the same thing at first, "Wow that's a huge amount of blood and moving quickly. The "movement" was actually the shadow of Michael's arm. In that shot you can actually see the shadow move away from her body. In the shot where there's a closeup of Libby on the floor, there's no indication of blood.

Yup, I can confirm this. We just rewatched that scene twice because DD's BF was insisting it was blood. It is, indeed, Michael's shadow. There is a later wide shot where there is no blood around Libby.

But, there is a phongraph player down in the hatch. Remember the Mamas and the Papas song that was playing when they first go down the hatch and meet Desmond?

You know, you may have something there. We all know that Walt can control things with his mind. What if he is more powerful than we realize and caused the plane to crash? I haven't worked out yet how he got all these people on the plane, but I'll get there.

Yea, the more I think about it...the more I think it all leads back to Walt. Remember how Lock was the one adult who spent time w/him after the crash and started teaching him survival? Would that be why he's the only one that was "missioned" to be brought back (by Henry)? Is Walt collecting all the kids for a reason...like having ones his age around him and to play with instead of all those stuffy adults? Didn't Walt imagine the polar bear and then it came true...could he have done that w/the crash????

Hmm, I'll go watch again. It just seem like a liquid that was moving, not a shadow.

Theories
Shared hallucination
As per Dave's assertion in this episode, the "survivors" are all patients of the Santa Rosa Mental Institute, and the Island is just a shared hallucination.

All the crash survivors are imagining the Island, perhaps caused by the medication or are in some form of suspended animation
This is a type of group therapy. This explains why people "die" soon after having a breakthrough.
The Dharma Initiative is the project name for the group therapy funded by the Hanso Foundation.
Most/all of the characters seem to show some hint at mental instability. Any of the following are reasons for depression or other mental illness:
Locke had a kidney stolen by his father and has difficulty dealing with the loss of his legs. If the island were imagined, this would explain his magical walking.
Kate killed her "step" father, Wayne. She also caused the death of ex-boyfriend Tom while resisting arrest.
Jack lost his wife and testified against his father.
Sawyer watched his parents die in a murder/suicide after they were swindled out of their life savings.
Michael was in a brutal car accident resulting in long hospital recovery. His ex-girlfriend Susan used the accident to gain full custody of their son Walt.
Walt’s mother died.
Jin has a pretty stressful job as a henchman for Sun’s father.
Sun felt her marriage was failing and is afraid of Jin. Her fear was strong enough that she secretly learned English to escape to America.
Ana-Lucia was shot and injured by a suspect. Later, she tracked him down and killed him.
Eko became a notorious criminal and watched his brother die because of his scheme to export drugs out of Africa.
Shannon was cheated out of her inheritance and seduced her brother, Boone. She was killed in the show, which may indicate that her relationship with Sayid helped cure her of the selfishness and relationship anxiety she had been experiencing.
Boone was killed shortly after coming to terms with letting go of Shannon. He appeared to stop caring for her and his emotional freedom from Shannon may have been the trigger to end the therapy.
Sayid was forced to become a torturer and later killed his superior while helping his lost love, Nadia, escape. In Sydney, he was told that Nadia was residing in Irvine, CA. But in a scene with Rousseau, he states that Nadia is dead.
Hurley and Libby are both former mental patients at S.R.M.I.
The various manifestations that the "survivors" see (Jack's father, Kate's horse, Desmond, The Numbers, etc.) are related to the shared hallucination.
The buildings on the Island that resemble hospital facilities, like The Staff and The Arrow, are the stand-ins for their real-life counterparts in the hospital.
The Others are actually the nurses, staff, etc. of Santa Rosa Mental Institute. The backwards whispering would be the doctors observing and talking. Similarly, Walt talking backwards could indicate that he is cured or no longer part of the shared hallucination.
The Hatch says "QUARANTINE" to keep the crazy people in their proper environment.
The Mural also implicates an advanced mental institution, the "Arts and crafts."
While the creators have said that the Island is not the product of one person’s imagination. They have NOT said that it is not a shared hallucination among multiple people
In spite of the creators claims, what Dave says might be true. Libby's experiences might be all made up by Hurley's mind

Ok - it is definitely a shadow moving. Was quite the optical illusion though!! Well, since there isn't any blood of any kind, maybe Libby isn't mortally wounded? Again, can't wait until next week.

A question...

Everyone is assuming that Henry was telling Locke the truth when he said he was going to bring Locke to the Others. What if he was lying? He's been trying to stir things up since he was captured (and I believe he was captured on purpose) and split the Losties apart. I believe that he was just trying to get Locke to trust him and pull away from Jack.

Indeed. If you're just watching the scene as a whole it looks like blood spilling out from her (albeit quickly for blood--that's what clued me in). You have to look closely to see it. I'm curious to know if it was done on purpose.

What if it isn't really Michael, we have all seen supernatural weird shadows, people and monsters before on this show.

I think he was lying too. First of all, if the Others wanted Locke, they would have taken right away. Why would they all of a sudden want him now? And second, they wouldn't have sent just one man to get him. The Others always seem to be in groups.

I think Henry is just trying to manipulate Locke.

I know one thing...if this is all just one big hallucination, I will be mad! :furious:

Okay, I know I'm late but just watched this show on my DVR last night.... and NOW I have to watch it again because of what I read here!! WOW!!!

All I have to add is this is the best written show in AGES!! Loving it! And the best part of watching it late is I only have to wait until tomorrow to see the next part!

Has anyone else thought about the possibility that it was not Micheal who returned, but "The Bad Twin" (the name of the manuscript)? He seemed to look/act a bit different than he used to... Just an idea. The only glitch would be the apology to Ana Lucia before shooting her, but if the Others are supposed to be good people, he may still feel remorse for killing her...

Woooooooo, wicked!!!!

And that was Claire's psychic!

And OMG OMG OMG

Are they going to be able to see exactly what Michael did? Will they even tell Jack they were watching them?
