We recently transferred our 215 points to the Grand Floridian (from BWV) so awe could be on the monorail with a traveling grandparent. We had an unexpected emergency and lost all of our points because there wasn't a 5 day advance notice. Has this happened to anyone. Any suggestions to recoup the points???

I don't have personal experience with this, but I recall reading some posts in the past regarding similar issues. If I remember correctly, if it was a true emergency and you documented proof, sometimes they will give you back the points, usually with the caveat that those points be used in a certain time frame. Call MS and see what they have to say. Good Luck.

The rules do state that Disney Collection accommodations must be cancelled more than 5 days prior to scheduled arrival in order to retain the points. idratherbeinwdw's approach is probably your only option at this point. But at this point it sounds like DVC is just following the published rules.

If you do pursue it further, let us know the outcome.

Unfortuneatly, I don't think you are going to have much luck:worried: Last year when we went to VB for a long wknd stay our ds got sick 2 days before our trip and we debated about whether or not we should still go in case it wasn't a 24hr type thing. We called MS to see what we could do...cancel under emergencey circumstances, reschedule....whatever...and were basically told "sorry...that is why trip insurance is offered" with every booking :( We were pretty much told that because we were within the 5 days (and we were talking about a regular DVC booking not trading the points out for one of the Disney hotels like you're speaking of - although we did book cash with the Member discount...not sure if that changes circumstances any?...Maybe?) Anyhow, we were told we would loose the entire 1st night's $$ for the room if we did not have the trip insurance...which of course we didn't. In the end we lucked out as ds recovered by Friday and we left the next day and all was well but we would have been out the money for Sat. night in our 1bdrm villa otherwise. My guess is since they have to trade the points out and not keep them within the DVC system you may be met with the same type of response :scratchin I truely hope I'm wrong though. Best of luck and let us know how you make out.
