LOST - Last Season (NO SPOILERS)

Oh and I thought there was some talk this season about a follow up movie. Was this just speculation? Or wishful thinking on my part? I swear I heard that somewhere...

There are a lot of posters on that thread that I haven't seen around here in ages. I skimmed through it and a lot of people were fairly close in their theories.

I agree with you. The more I think about it the more satisfied I am. I think I know all I really needed to know.

I wanted a happy ending for them, but not really. A truly happily ever after just wouldn't have fit with the show and that ending would have really been a cop out after everything they'd written into the show.

This way, they sort of got the happy ending, just not in the expected way. Some died, the others had lost someone they loved, but in the end they were together again. I think all of us hold hope that even in death we'll be able to be with the ones who matter most to us.

I think it was this thread, but someone questioned the airplane flying overhead. I've no doubt when Jack saw it fly over and he smiled, that was our confirmation that Kate, Sawyer, Claire, Miles, Richard and Lapidus all made it safely off the island. Jack had saved them (and everyone else) and was able to have peace at his death
.

My thoughts exactly!

I think Aaron was raised by Claire because she left the Island, so she died eventually but Im sure she raised the baby.

I know some people don't put a lot of stock into Kristen from E! but I thought she had some really nice articles on the finale today.

Thank you for the links. :thumbsup2

Hurley Got to Be the New Jacob! Yes, Jack fulfilled his destiny by drinking the wine, replugging the cork down in the light cave and saving the Island (and everyone we love), but it was Hurley who ended up as the next protector of the Island. Anyone else choke up as Hurley asked Ben to stick around and help him, finally giving Ben what he wanted all along: a real purpose?

Of course, we should have seen that it would be Hurley, as he is the one true, pure spirit who never once lied to anyone, and carried a simple but sizable heart...just like Jacob.

I knew it :lovestruc it had to be him... Dude :thumbsup2

This didn't hit me until this morning. I was thinking about how blissfully happy everyone was when they reconnected and then it hit me that they realized that they were dead and together again. I think I will cry even more when I rewatch it now. I loved it. Every second of the finale was amazing. I told my husband while we were watching "I'm NOT going to be ok if jack dies." But they way they did it was beautiful and I'm ok....lol!

ITA:thumbsup2

Boy this was a great run.

I will miss that show. I was left with a million questions, of course, but it was still one of the best shows on TV. I'm sad Kate and Sawyer never got back together, I always wanted more from them.

Last night's episode stuck with me even today. I found myself thinking about it at work and got choked up all over again.

Thanks! Those were great!! :)

Since the show is over, I'm hoping its ok to post MIB's name?

Samuel

Eko was too greedy. :(

The alternate ending would have been a Sun/Jin wedding. But they think it was just a Red Herring so that they could keep the real ending a secret.

In light of the final moments, it is especially moving when you realize that not only were they coming to the realization that they knew each other, but that they also were aware of why they were now in each others' presence.

I kept wondering to myself why they all had almost raptuous looks on their faces when they remembered. Now I know how fitting that thought was.

I loved it! I've found myself explaining what happened a lot today and then, when the light dawns, people are usually happier about the ending.

I am surprised about how many people are very confused or just plain wrong about what happened. I mean, I got it and I suffered through the whole thing with the bad signal, which means I missed far too much of the dialogue.

I can't wait to see it again. There are a few questions that nag me, but overall I am really satisfied. The one thing that was really missing for me was the Penny/Des reunion, but I see how given the ending being so Jack centered, they really couldn't do it. And the Sayid/Shannon thing bugged me a bit too. I just never liked Shannon though.

I just can't believe how much I'm still thinking about it and remembering/recognizing new connections.

I definitely cried during the finale, but if the Des/Penny reunion took place I would have lost it! I bawl like a baby when it comes to those two!

I was so pleased to see Shannon. I know that she wasn't an appealing character but Sayid liked her so much so that worked out nicely. And Boone! Boone was always one of my favorites and it bugged me so much when he was killed off.

I like to imagine that there's a place for Ben and Michael and some of the others...when they're ready. :)

I rewatched the 1st hour of the finale this afternoon and there were some parts that I found very interesting.....

When Desmond and Jack are on the island and Desmond is about to go into the tunnel of light he tells Jack that "none of this matters"....that when he (Desmond) goes into the tunnel he is going to be taken to another place...a place where everyone is together and happy...and he sees Jack in this place...he goes on to say that he saw them on a plane...that they sat next to one another and talked.....and that plane lands in LAX...of course Jack then goes on to say that everything matters and what happened, happened. I think Desmond saw the "future" when Widmore put him into the electromagnetic chamber....and he believes everything will be okay...so he willingly does what everyone says....but...now this is the big but.....does Desmond know that this "future" is actually purgatory?? or does he think there really is another timeline??

Also when Desmond is in the car with Kate at the church when the coffin is being delivered Kate says "Why are we here?" and Desmond's answer is "No one can tell you why you are here, Kate." She also asks something along the lines of why are you doing this...and he says so he can leave...

I love Lost.....I am really going to miss it!!

Desmond was clearly wrong about something though. If I remember it right, when he pulled out the stopper (that's what I call it ;) ) he was upset because something he expected didn't happen. It took away Smokey's power though and made him mortal. It seemed to make Richard mortal too.

It's fun to conjecture about. I don't know why some others don't enjoy that part of it.

Yeah, I think basically Des was wrong. Though it is a bit ackward...how could the person reminding everyone what was really happening be wrong? I guess he didn't understand what was going on in the purgatory line?

That is a bit annoying...but I'm sure there are plenty of other issues...don't care still loved it! ;)

I had a question! Well, more of a reconfirmation. During the beginning of the flash-sideways this season, when they were all on the plane, did Rose know everything immediately? She had looked at Jack after the turbulence and said, "You can let go now, Jack." (The writers are so clever!)

I don't think she knew. It was just a clever way to play with words. I just love that she and Bernard lived out their retirement years on the Island. I imagine then having Hurley over for dinner occasionally now that all the drama was over, at least for a while.

I think she did know. After all, she had already accepted death while she was still alive.

yes he did say that...but he also told him that the plane crash never happened that none of this is real...and Jack corrected him and said it did and it was all real...he repeated just what his dad told him in the church...I to couldn't help myself and watched it again :lmao:and I had tears running down my face again...I thought the ending was perfect....:upsidedow

My other fav show "24" also had it's ending of the series last night....Bummer , my 2 favorites are gone:sad1:
