Lost Continent to become Hogwarts?

I think it would be a combo of both robotic arm and coaster. Like this...from 2004. I would imagine the technology would be more advanced than this picture.

If that happens I would be really upset. Lost Continent is my favorite Island. I would hate to see it changed into Harry Potter Island. :( I hope this stays a rumor. Why couldn't they just add a new island instead of ruining the best one?

Space constraints.

Poseidan has never been wildly popular and the Sinbad show isn't even always open. If changing those two things and adding some wizard theming will attrack the crowds (and hence increase the revenue), I think they should do it.

Here's a recent video of the robot arm that was posted on Break.com

http://www.break.com/index/robot_arm_ride.html

Yeah, it looks kinda fun for a few seconds, but unless it's on a roller coaster track, then it's just a flat ride spinning people around. The suits think simulators can replace coasters. No way. The problem is a flat ride is stuck in one spot, and can't go 70 mph. What I like the most is height and speed. Now that rocket coasters are here like Kingda Ka in New Jersey, people want to go up 450 feet at 120mph. I don't expect them to build a rocket coaster, but something like the Mystery Mine ride with a Gringots theme would be an idea.

That is an outstanding idea Rob....It would really work, and you could even have a fire breathing dragon AA in it as well...I mean come on!

But here's the latest from Screamscape:

The sky must be falling because even Jim Hill has now changed his mind and is now backing up our story about Universal gobbling up the rights to Harry Potter. Even more, he picked up on an idea about what kind of ride we may see come from the Harry Potter universe and I’ve got to apologize to another reader who presented me with the same idea. I just felt that Project Strongarm was a little too obvious a name to be used for any ride that may feature extensive use of the Kuka robotics arm system at the time. Guess I was wrong, because Jim paints a nice pretty picture of a dark ride system that would use those very strong robot arms to take you on a wild flying car ride into the universe of Harry Potter. Though Jim’s article seems to think that Universal stole the idea from a Disney proposal for an Incredibles themed ride, it was actually Disney who stole that idea from Universal’s proposed Van Helsing themed dark ride that was also to go into the Lost Continent. Of course the project was sent back to the drawing board after Vivendi balked at the cost of the expensive ride system in question combined with the lackluster performance of the Van Helsing film itself. Looks like NBC has been looking through the drawer of old fun ideas though, because this sounds like a winner to me.

Gotta love Jim Hill.

I know everones interested in the rides, etc., but I hope they have "Every Flavor Beans" somewhere!

Did you know that Jelly Belly makes those? They are NASTY!!!

how come Sinbad is often closed?

I've been on one of those arm rides before. I thought it was very boring. It just stayed still on the ground and moved u around a bit. It just seems like advanced technology used in a very lame way. Though if they found a way to make it move I'm sure this would make a big difference.

I just hope they don't change LC though, I think its the best looking island there. The building that Poseidon is in looks awesome, shame nothing much happens inside it though

Posiden's fury doesn't start until 10:30am. The first Sinbad show happens later than that I believe. The problem with the Sinbad show, is it's hidden behnd the talking fountain and those shops. I haven't seen it in ages. I'd rather them put a ride in that opens when the park does.

Is there any place or person to whom we could complain? I'm all for a Harry Potter section just NOT at the expense of the best themed area out of any theme park anywhere, the Lost Continent.

This would be a travesty to see the demise of the LC section.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I used to buy a crap load of those and replace them with the candy in the dishes on people's desk at work:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

There's nothing like seeing your boss eat ear wax and booger jelly beans:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Worth every penny!!!!

I’m told that Universal Studios Florida is finalizing terms to bring a type of “Harry Potter World” to its Orlando resort. The entire themed area would be at a previously unused portion of the amusement park.

Oh please let this part be true!

I watched the first Harry Potter movie, and I enjoyed it, but never sat down to watch the rest.

But this makes me quite excited...first it's something new and if I have to catch up on the movies or books before I see the attraction(s) I will

Second...it's a huge kid oriented franchise. People may finally stop asking if there's anything for kids to do at Universal if this opens!!

It doesn't matter if you read the books or saw the movies. Harry Potter is about a bunch of teenage wizards in training. You don't really need any prior knowledge to enjoy the ideas.
