Lost and Found at Wilderness Lodge

One month ago today, we accidently left Teddy behind at Wilderness Lodge. Today we received an email that Teddy had been found!!! We are thrilled! We had found a replacement and tried to pass him off as Teddy, but grandson knew, something about the stitching on his head, LOL. A huge thanks to the Lost and Found department at Disney World! They are shipping him to us as I type this and we are so grateful. Thank you all again for your support.
That’s AMAZING!! Thank you for coming back and updating!

How great that they found this Teddy and the others that were accidentally left behind. However, I see a lot of anger at Disney when people make the mistake of leaving an item behind, I see so many stories of found items returned to their absent minded owners that it seems unfortunate that many blame Disney harshly at first.

We are true believers in Disney's Lost and Found system!

You are all so kind. Thank you.

They really do try and relocate lost items, especially those with sentimental value. MANY years ago when I first started at Disney and worked front desk, I would always tell parents to make sure no stuffed animals or special blankets were ever left on the beds, as the housekeepers have such limited time to make the beds. They don't have time to look, they just strip all the sheets off into a ball and put them in the dirty linen metros that then go off to the Central Laundry facility. It's tough for a stuffed animal to make it through the industrial washers, dryers, and machines that fold the sheets and towels. Some do, but that is more the exception than the rule. The CM's really do care about reuniting people with their lost stuff! People need to remember it's not the CM's fault something got lost. So glad this story has a happy ending!

Thank you for explaining this so clearly! Even more evidence for that thread from a week or two ago where someone was insisting housekeeping stole one of hers.

Exactly! I was actually able to tour the laundry facilities when I was a CM. It is incredibly impressive and complex. They showed us some items (stuffed animals) that had gone through the washing process, sadly there was not much left of them. The housekeepers are under a lot of pressure to get rooms turned as quickly as possible, they don't have the time to search through all the linens before putting them in the dirty laundry metros. I know the thread you are mentioning, I tired to explain the process there, too. Unfortunately, housekeepers are the first to be blamed for misplaced items. Sometimes they are guilty, but in most cases, it's the Guest losing the item.
