Hi Everybody! :wave2:

I was wondering if you guys could help me out on this. I've been trying to lose weight for almost a year now and so far i've lose 51lbs :cheer2: but now, with 17lbs to go, I've hit a plateau :guilty:

I'm going on holiday in 5 weeks time and I'd like to lose a few more lbs before then - does anyone have any advise on how to (safetly!) kick start my weight loss again? I exercise on a daily basis (surfing, jogging, aerobics, cycling, dancing, cheerleading etc) and eat healthily, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong!

If anyone has any tips for me or if anyone else is trying to lose weight at the moment I'd be really grateful for any advice or tips you could give me!

I'm determined to be fit and slim for my Disney trip next easter. I'll be running from ride to ride!

:wave2: Hi,

Congrats on your weight loss. Why don't you pop over to the Wish board, you will get lots of tips and encouragement from people who are also trying to lose weight and stay healthy. There is also a weekly thread on the UK community board were you can post how you have gotten on during the week and ask for encouragement there.

Good luck.

Thank you Minniespal! I'll have a look on there, didn't think of looking on there, I'm always on the UK DIS boards! Well done on your weight loss too!! Wow, 82lbs... :worship:

Hiya and congratulations on your weight loss its fantastic :cheer2: We have a weekly health check every week on the this board. We all tell each other how much we have lost and give each other tips. I have found this really helps  We started the first week in January and i have lost 36lbs in this short space of time. I would like to loose another 4lbs before i go away in 2 weeks :rolleyes1 I am finding it hard now though. Come along and join in The thread is every monday and its called Dis Health check :)

Michelle

That's a fantastic amount to have lost!!! :cheer2: WELL DONE!! Afraid I can't help but just wanted to say "well done" and also to thank Minniespal for the idea of looking at the Wish board!

Hi Disneysurfgirl and well done on your weight loss so far, I know its SOOOO frustrating when you hit that plateau, a friend of mine experienced the exact same thing, she was like you and exercised a lot so couldn't figure out why it wasn't coming off, she then had a holiday away where she didn't make an effort to eat healthily or to exercise at all and was dreading the return when she thought she'd have put on a ton of weight, she had only put on 2-3 pounds so started her excercise regime again and within a fortnight had lost a further 7 pounds. her flatmate who was a dietician (said friend is a nurse) suggested that she'd reached such a high level of exercise before the hols that her metabolic rate had slowed down to match so by taking a week off she'd reminded her metabolism to start work again as soon as she started the exercise again. I don't know how true this is and I'd hate to discourage anyone from exercise but maybe its worth a shot - take a week off and see if a 'relaunch' into your exercise regime will give you the boost.

I have to add that I agree with this. When I lost several stone many years ago I used to do that and sort of kick-start the weight loss again and it always seemed to work - good excuse for a few days off too!!! ;)

well done on your weight loss so far, i often take a week off and then find i do well the week after. good luck

Thank you so much everybody, you've all been a great help. And I like the sound of this idea of taking a week off to lose weight! :rotfl: I'm also doing uni exams at the moment so maybe the stress of workiong out, dieting and revising is just getting to me. I'll definately join the health check thread with you guys. Other message boards from diet sites aren't as supportive of you guys have been. You've all been so cool - DIS rocks! :cool1:

Just wanted to say Congratulations on your fantastic weight loss!!

Make sure you are eating enough to sustain all of that excercise :)

Oh well done on your weight loss. You must feel like a new woman :)
I wonder if Kaylee's right you know? Have you tried doing one of those Internet thingys where you put in your calorie intake and exercise and it tells you what you should be losing - I've been on a strict diet and exercising madly and couldn't understand why some weeks I lost little or no weight until my gym man suggested I might not be eating enough. I've upped my calorie intake a little and the weight has started coming off again :)

Hi Karen! Could you be a bit more specific about the "Internet thingy" please as it sounds like a good idea. Do you have the web address please? :sunny:

Di I thinkit is weightlossresource.co.uk but my note with it on is at work!!

I read somewhere that if you switched your diet plan for a week or two
this helps to kick start your diet again. Eat more veg & fruit - or replace it with something else for a day or two - bread and potates are a good swap.

Also make sure you're still drinking 8 glasses of water per day.
