losing weight on the way to Mickey!

May I join in? I'll take all the support I can get!

I will introduce myself...

I'm Shannon, 35 years old, married (for a while 2 weeks now) and we have an 8 month old daughter, Molly. We are in south Florida and I work as a speech pathologist. I've always been heavier and obviously having a baby didn't help that but within a few weeks of having her I had lost almost all of my baby weight, but somehow, I've since gained it back and then some. I'm at my heaviest and I just feel icky, plus hate my looks. So...really really trying but every day is a struggle to eat well. For exercise, I'm still getting back into it. I joined DH's gym and went a few times last week but this week, I'm struggling. Are you noticing a theme? Struggling! We are taking Molly to Disney in June for her first trip and I really want to lose weight for that trip!

Name: Shannon
Age: 35
Diet: 21 Day Fix (just the meal plan and it will probably change again next week lol)
Exercise: Gym (cardio) and neighborhood walks
Short term goal: to fit into my pre-baby shorts by June
Long term goal: Lose 55 lbs

Hi Shannon!!! wow Congratulations on being a newlywed!! I am a pediatric physical therapist :) Having my first baby made put on the weight too, mostly because I was just always caring for her (now my 3) and not really taking care of me. I've changed that now, started a year ago and have kept off 40 lbs... still have about 15 more to go though. I also do 21 day fix mostly the eating plan, it is actually how I became a beachbody coach. Now I have groups of all kinds of ladies doing very well with that program :) so DON'T change it!!! haha, and if you need people to bounce ideas off and recipes let me know you can find my free private group on facebook and join the ladies. For exercise, it's really important to find something you like, I know everyone says that! but you're not going to keep up with something you don't like. And if you have the program 21 day fix, I encourage you to try the videos.... there is a modifier on there and it's designed for people who need to lose weight, so the exercises are only 1 minute each!

Anyway, we all struggle! even when I'm doing good, it's a struggle in my mind to do so, so you're in good company here! set a little goal for 1 month... then another for your June trip... when we work toward "lose some weight" or "just get healthy" we can easily throw in the towel or say to ourselves... yeah I'm doing it. But setting a specific goal will really help drive you. Then tell someone about that goal... that's what is great about this group, if you don't feel comfortable sharing with your family and friends because maybe you're scared you won't make it... it's perfect to share privately in here! We support and encourage, not judge!

And I just realized this was responding to you, but truly everyone can benefit!!! And if any other ladies need that daily ongoing posts let me know I'd be happy to add you to my fitness friends page on facebook. It's the same as in here, everyone is doing different programs or what works for them, but the posts are more often and keep you more accountable. Oh, and they aren't all traveling to Disney!

Have an awesome week!

OK..sigh...really having a hard time..the weather has been really cold and aweful so loosing weight has been stalled. I haven't been here for a while but here I am getting back on track! I'm 59 days away from my vacation..did our FPs and online checkin....
so now my goal is 5lbs loss this month and 5 next mo. I can do this!!
I got restocked on fruits, veggies and protien...made a water goal for each day this mo and walk/steps goal set up on a calendar!
That's my update...haveva good day!

you got this!!! I'll be watching for your update on water.... I'm working on that too today.

Finally broke my plateau.

Ht 5 10
CW 213
GW trip 5/28....200
Final GW 180

I did start measuring my portions...I think they were creeping up there....my DH can eat and not gain! Im a 40 yo mom to 3 so I can't eat like a teen anymore. I usually log in MFP as I lost about 80 pounds while in my 30s with WW and I know logging is what helps me not eat mindlessly/ emotionally

I have been walking mostly I do about 2 miles at a 16-17 min pace or I do a circuit training or pilates video....I try to do 3 days a week but my kids play ball so sometimes its twice a week. When the heat index is over a hundred in a couple of months I will have to wait until evening or keep it inside. I also have a full time job as a nurse so Im I'm not at a desk job.

we are very similar!!! I'm getting ready to turn 40 with 3 kiddos... I pretty much owned my 30s with WW, I even used to work for them :) keeping track is KEY!!! and for me I see a huge difference with clean eating. Love pilates!!! and getting the time is so difficult when you're running around like crazy. I bet you burn a lot daily with nursing! So glad you finally broke through that plateau, onward and downward :)

Hi everyone!!! Major lurker over here but had to jump in now!

Ive been trying to lose some weight for the past 7 weeks and havent really seen any progress at all. I dont have a lot of weight to lose but trying to get back to what I am used to. Switching from a mobile position to a corporate job really took its toll on me last year. I eat very well during the week but the weekends typically kill me. Ive given up alcohol mostly with a glass of wine or vodka water on the occasional night out. I make sure I get up and take a lap around the building and I make it to the gym at least 4x a week. Been doing interval runs and some type of class. I need some help/advice of anyone who has been stuck and not been able to lose! I live only about 50 minutes from Disney so I am there a lot and dont have a specific date Im trying to lose by but would like to be able to take pictures while I am there again without feeling uncomfortable!

Any help would be great!!! And congrats to everyone here for such awesome progress!!!

Hey do you measure your food intake or track calories? not that I think you need to, I'm just wondering where you're at? when I've been at a plateau, I either need to change up my workouts to something strict for a few weeks or sometimes even increase my food intake slightly (of course healthy) because my body is either too low for my BMR rate or has gotten used to the food and my metabolism has slowed. sounds like your workouts are good, ask yourself if you are pushing yourself at a good intensity... and then take a CLOSE look at your food. I was running 4 miles per day last year and eating pretty clean, but could not drop anything... then I switched it up and was able to lose 5 but more importantly inches!

I'm back with my pre- bedtime report...today went OK..the weather worked against me and was cold and rainy so I decided to just use my stairs( 3 flights) for excersise. It worked well and I did make my water goal- 1/2 gal yay! I'm happy.
I'm finally feeling better from surgery in Dec and a major infection that was badly damaging my body- it's been a slow recovery but lately I'm feeling much better, sleeping better and having more energy!
Must be the Disney excitement! :dogdance:

So close to my first goal. My goal is to be 210 or less before I leave for WDW on Sunday. As of this morning I am at 211.4. I hit a plateau for 2 weeks but I kicked it into high gear with my exercise this week. I have to complete my long run on Saturday - 10 miles, for my 1/2 marathon training so I am confident I can hit my goal by Sunday. I just have to keep telling myself that so I don't overeat and keep up with the intense workouts. :yay:

Well as of this morning I am at 210.8! I have 2 more days to get rid of those pesky .8 pounds. So looks like snow and a high of 35 tomorrow for my long run. :scared: Nothing like a good challenge before going to WDW. I think I am just as exited to be somewhere warm and sunny as I am that I am taking my first solo trip to WDW for a mommy time out. :flower1:

WTG!! Good luck on the run and that last 0.8 of a pound. You can do it!!

Any help would be great!!! And congrats to everyone here for such awesome progress!!!

I think there are some keys here that may help you:

1) Do you track your food and know how much you are eating vs. how much you are exercising?

2) Use a pedometer or log your exercise by hand in something like RunKeeper or Livestrong. You can then calculate what you burn every day.

3) Same with food - this is a NECESSITY if you are at a plateau. Measure and log everything you eat. Are you eating clean but your portions are too big? Are you eating small quantities but the food is junk? Is that really 1 serving of wine or is it 2-3 (like me!)? Logging your intake will show you where your missteps are. Again - livestrong.com, weight watchers, etc. There are free food trackers out there.

4) Are you taking in WAY less that what you are burning? If that is the case then you need to eat more to lose. Your body may have gone into sort of a starvation mode and not be burning fat.

5) Are you building a lot of muscle? It weighs more than fat and burns more calories. You may see a weight gain but be in better shape. Measure inches too. Sometimes the weight will start to fall off again once those muscles get big enough to really metabolize away your fat stores.

Focus on the healthy, feel-good you and work toward that. The weight will take care of itself. Sounds like you are headed in the right direction!

eeek, I have finally turned my body clock around and am enjoying my early morning workouts again, it just really gets me moving earlier and focused for the day. The problem, I haven't been spot on with nutrition, boo :( but I've absolutely got to reign that in. I'm aiming for tomorrow to have 1 good day.

I'd love to to join in! We've booked our first trip super last minute (44 days out)- but I'm still hoping to lose 20lbs before we go. I'm going to use the Christina Carlyle eating and exercise plans.

Oh, me me me! I want to join in!

My trip is not until 2018, but I have about 100lbs to lose, so I think the timing is perfect. Like many other posters, the only way I am going to get things done is by posting here so I have lots of eyes checking on me :)

Do you think it is doable? I am currently emptying and consuming everything in my house that is unhealthy foods/snacks/etc so that we can start fresh! As far as exercise, I have been taking a lot of wayer fitness classes, but I noticed that the weight loss progression with those is relatively slow, so I will be adding some additional cardio very soon.

As far as diet, once all the unhealthy food is gone, we'll be switching to the South Beach diet, although I am not going to stress much about it. As long as I have only healthy foods at home, I will be happy. I plan on doing all my shopping at the local farmers market, so that will help.

Will it be ok to post my progress here? That way you can all poke me with virtual sticks when I start going off course?

Good luck to everyone!

Good morning. I had a good weighin this am. Ive lost 28.5 lbs since Jan 3rd! I'm very excited because since I've been over weight I have never lost this much! I still have a long ways to go but each pound is getting me closer. Essentially 48 to 50 more pounds is goal weight. But when I started it was 70 to 80 lbs so its progress. Hope everyone is doing well. We have a beach trip in about 6ish weeks... Really hoped to be at 40 lbs off by then but not sure I can make that. Hopefully I will atleast get close!

Yes please posts updates! Can't wait to hear how you are doing. Yes 100 lbs is doable...but be happy with whatever progress you make and don't get tied to the date. I keep telling myself that too! Any loss is great....just keep at it for however long it takes. I wanted to lose 70 by October but if I lose 60 I will still be happy with that bc that is huge even if it's not to my goal! :mickeyjum

The worst part for me right now is consuming all the bad foods I have in my house. I guess it has too "get worse before it gets better", but I certainly don't want to waste the food. I didn't realize how bad I was eating until I decided to do this.

On the plus side, I talked to my husband yesterday and it looks like I might get a FitBit for Mother's Day. Woohoo! Anyone has any experience with it? Is it worth the money?

100% worth the money! That's what has helped me and my husband! We got our Jan 3rd since I've lost 28.5 and he's around 26 to 27 lbs ( he's at his goal weight already). You have to input all your foods and it registers all your steps / exercise. Best money ever spent. I've never lost more than 10 to 15 lbs over months time and get frustrated and quit.... This helps me be accountable! Good luck!

Oh no! You have to input the food? :( I hate doing that! That's what gets me every time and I get frustrated and just quit. Is that optional or you absolutely jave to do it in ordernfor it to work?

Well I guess you could use it just to monitor your exercise, but I'm afraid that it won't be very effective without being held accountable for what you put in your body. Counting calories is very important to lose weight. It intimidated me too! Trust me! After about a week I got the hang of it. To lose the weight you really have to eat healthier and exercise. I've wanted to lose weight for 9 years, but I wasn't ready until now.I wanted it, don't get me wrong but I was ready to make a lifestyle change until now. I wasn't ready to throw away the bad foods until Jan! Good luck! Trust me you can do it!
