losing weight on the way to Mickey!

My husband and I need to lose weight before we visit Mickey in less than 11 months. I am mainly afraid of the airplane and seat width.

Leslie

I know that feeling. I know I'm a big gal, but put me in an airplane seat and I feel like a giant! Ugh!

Joining in please!!

I go to Disney in June and I started my weight loss journey Jan 25th. By the time I go I would ideally like to lose 84lbs (and then an additional 35lbs when I am back to get to my ultimate goal).

So far I have lost 39lbs so I am nearly half way there. I am posting my journey on Instagram (fatmumfit_) to hold myself accountable!

I started training for my first ever 10k about 4 weeks ago and completed it last Sunday!!

Cant wait to feel fit and healthy!!

You've lost 39 pounds since Jan 25??? That's amazing! 45 pounds by June is ambitious but possible - good luck! Sounds like you've got a great plan and are dedicated - 2 important pieces of any diet!

And good luck on your 10k plan! I started a Couch to 10k and was doing pretty well, but then hurt my knee - sigh. Hopefully it starts feeling better soon!

ETA: I read too quick the first time and just realized you said you completed your first 10k...awesome!!!! I'll find you in IG!

My goal weight is 120. Nights are hard, but weekends are the worst. When we get together with friends or family, it is on the weekend and we do it often. And when we get together it always includes a meal or two. I know what I need to do, I just don't do it. One thing that helps me at night, if I remember to do it, is to munch on something like carrot or celery sticks when getting supper. Then I am not tasting bite after bite of what I am cooking.

So you're less than 10 pounds from your goal - nice!! It's so difficult - nights, weekends, travel...daily temptations...LOL!

I've still got a lot to lose, but I'm hoping I can get to the point where I can limit calories/super healthy eating Sunday - Friday afternoon, and then not have to worry about Friday night and Saturday. And still exercise 4-5 days a week. Like you said, most of my social eating is the weekend and that's really hard to not enjoy!

Good luck!

I got so busy last week that I didn't post. Now I'm down 10 lbs!!!! Or at least I was before 5 days of WDW.

We got home last night. I didn't count any WW points while I was gone. Fitbit and Health app on my phone say I averaged 10,000 - 16,000 steps per day in the parks. We at breakfast in the rooms, had a couple glasses of wine everyday, and mostly ate what I wanted without ever stuffing myself.

So, back on the scale this morning, and I may have gained 1/2 lb! I'll take it. Weigh in is Friday, so we'll see then.

Thanks for the great thread. Mickey says "Hi, and keep up the great work!"

Congrats on losing 10!!!!

There no way I would be able to step on a scale after 5 days at Disney - I definitely overeat!! Good luck...hopefully all the walking kept any extra weight off!!!

Hey guys! Sounds like good progress is happening for us! I'm down 23.5 lbs since Jan 3rd. Still another 47.5 to go to be at my 1st goal then hopefully another 5 to 10 lbs after! Our trip is in Oct so I'm hopeful! I will be thrilled just to lose most of it by then! Let's keep encouraging each other!

Wow, you guys are doing great! As suspected, after recovering from that bad cold and the flu back to back, I did gain some back but on the plus side didn't gain it ALL back. I've been just working to exercise once a week and that worked. Now I'm working on exercising at least 2 days a week and that is going well. Nothing huge -- just 15-20 minutes a day -- but it's something! I'm also making the kids walk with me so we can get ready for WDW. I told them we won't consider taking them until they can walk a minimum of 2 miles straight without complaining. Still need to work on making better food choices at times and not falling off the wagon but baby steps and all.

I weighed in today at 216.5.... Im averaging .5-1 pound a week.

GW 185..... Though my trip is week of Memorial day so in 10 weeks I probably won't hit 200 like I hoped....its been painfully slow wt loss for me so far....then I realized I forgot to take my thyroid meds for about a week...im sure that had something to do with it....grrrr. I've missed the gym a few days too due to my kids needing various things during my normal gym time....now with the time change hoping to at least get in extra steps in the evening.

Question....I want either a fitness tracker or running watch....I do some walk/ run but I'm not training for anything specific right now though I may this fall...tell me about ur tracker or watch....kinda interested in fitit blaze, polar, or garmin. I kinda want the HR on the wrist...dont want to have to wear a chest strap.

I am feeling good this morning! Weigh-In was 127.8 I started at 140 and my goal is to be at 120 by May 20th. The day we leave for Disney. Today is the day we make fast pass+ choices too, so I am all excited. Mine is going painfully slow too, but it motivates me to see that I am finally losing!

Continued success to all of us! Have a great week!

Also want to add, I think this is the first time I was actually down (even though just a little) two weeks in a row. Progress!

I weighed in yesterday, down 3.2! That was after being up 1 after a long weekend in San Diego. Down 7.6 for the first month. I'm also hoping to be under 200 for our trip June 4 and then 190 by early Aug when my son starts kinder. Ultimate goal is 180- or at that point I'll feel satisfied and reevaluate.

I gave up diet soda 9 days ago. The first 5 days were rough, but I'm feeling way better now.

You're right! There's a lot of great progress reported on here!

Congrats on your 23.5 pounds - that's fabulous! I'd down 22.8 since January 1. Weigh-in day is tomorrow but I don't think I'm going to lose any. I did good Sunday - Friday afternoon last week but haven't done great this weekend. Plus I hurt my knee so haven't done much exercising. It's getting better and I think I'm going to start the elliptical tomorrow.

Hey - sometimes not gaining too much weight back is a WIN! Especially when dealing with being sick.

And I agree, some exercise is better than none! Getting up to 2 days a week is a great goal and then hopefully you can add a little more over time!

Been a little busy so haven't posted lately. Still on track to meet my first goal of 210 before my trip to Disney in April. I am down to 215 as of this morning. My first half marathon is quickly approaching. I am up to 9 miles in my training schedule.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

9 miles - wow!! That's a big accomlpishment! And you sound like you are going to be pretty darn close to your goal, if you don't pass it by your trip! Good luck!

I don't have any recommendations for the fitness tracker, but I understand the slow weight loss. Sometimes I can do perfect and lose nothing and then other times I'm far (far, far) from perfect and so just mess up any chance of losing some weeks. Good luck!

7.6 pounds in a month is great! Especially with a long weekend of fun thrown in the mix! My goal is to hit the 180's as well. I've got 100 pounds to lose this year to hit that goal and that seems so impossible - but I'm trying to stay positive!!

Good luck getting to under 200 for your trip - that's going to feel great!

I'd like to join!

I started on January 3rd and I've lost 15 lbs so far.

I would like to lose 105 lbs overall...but am hoping for 50 by the end of the summer (Paris trip) and 75 lbs by the end of the year. Of course, I'll be thrilled with whatever I lose because I plan to keep it off this time.

I'm following the regular points plan from weight watchers from a few years back. I also periodically do short low carb stretches with the hubs. Sometimes I get tired of cooking him separate meals... :rotfl2:

My big goal is to run the 5K race in Disney as a family in January 2017. I'm too heavy at present to run without damaging my knees, so I am currently walking regularly and once I've lost about 50 lbs, I'll start jogging.

In January I began with 2 miles, three times a week. Thirteen weeks later, I now do three miles, five times a week. Saturdays are optional workouts but I often do 2 miles and most Sundays are rest days.

My diet has been somewhat irregular (which is why I have been stalled at 15 pounds lost for over a month) but the fitness level and flexibility has risen dramatically so far this year.

I am determined to go the distance and having a thread like this will help me stay strong when temptation comes calling.

I am a 40 year old mom of two and I'm a homemaker.

That's a great goal stayathomemom! DH and I ran a 10k at DL in Nov. It was awesome! We want to do another one but we have fallen off the running wagon! In fact, we are signed up to do the Dbacks 5K in like three weeks. I haven't run since Thanksgiving. I'll have to walk most of it and I'm gonna try not to feel self conscious about it!

It sounds like you have some great trips to give you incentive - exciting!!!

It sounds like you have some great plans to hit your goals. Great job on the exercising. I have a lot of trouble with consistency with my diet. I'm trying to do better on that front as well!

Keep reminding yourself that you are out there when you could just as easily be home in bed! Any progression is fabulous! Good luck!

I'm finally down 24 lbs! I haven't lost weight in a couple of weeks. I was so sick for about a week and 1/2 or 2. And then we had a birthday party for 2 of my kiddos and I ate junk! Then I ate leftover junk until a few days later I threw it out and questioned why I was eating it. Over two months of doing so well. I gained 2.5 lbs back....grrrr! I said no way....not doing this again! So now I've lost that 2.5 lbs and and extra 1/2 lb. It's been so hard! Hope everyone has done better than I have. I have about 7 to 8 weeks until a beach vacation...eeek! Not where I wanted to be. Goal is to get off 10 to 15 more lbs by then. And by Oct to have off about 45lbs. Then to lose a few more after I return... But I would be close to goal weight. Hope everyone is making progress! :tinker:
