I wish I had found this thread ages ago!!! DH and I have been cruising since 2003 with
DCL, and are scheduled for our next one in November! In the past we have always said we would eat right and exersize and get in "shape" for our trips, but we never did. the last couple of cruises, weight was a pretty big issue, since the seats were tight, or impossible. Last year I made a decision to do something about it finally. On July 14th last year I decided to actually make a move since it had been many years of excuses and not making any progress, and I was uncomfortable and unhappy and physically unable to do less and less every year. So I jumped through all the hoops our hospital required and lost 70 pounds leading up to surgery, and on December 15th I had the sleeve gastrectomy done. Since then I've lost another 110 pounds!
I still have about 45 pounds to loose to be considered "normal" weight, but I'm feeling so much better. I had some other surgery this month so I can't do anything that tones core muscles for about 6 weeks, but I can walk, so its harder. Watching the food intake is crutial now, since I can't do anything aerobic. (which is funny to say that its a bummer considering where I was at last year, but it is!)
If anyone who is tracking intake is interested, the Lose it App is awesome. I've been using it for a year now, and you keep track of your calories as well as carbs/sodium/etc.
