Looking for some guidance.

Currently heading to San Diego/LA as part of a football game package. Staying in San Diego for 3 days and have my plans ironed out there. We are then going to the Chargers game, and staying at the Lum Hotel in Inglewood with the rest of the football fans making this trip. Looking for ideas on where to stay/go in Los Angeles or surrounding area, and if it makes sense to move to a better area other than Inglewood as our homebase after our 1 night at the LUM hotel.

Currently leaning towards doing the tourist trap stops of Beverly Hills, Hollywood Walk of Fame, catching the Hollywood sign, and then going to one of the Beach Towns. Any other recommendations of places to go/see? Which Beach town would you head to? Where would you stay if doing these sites, or would you just extend the stay at the LUM hotel. Should we rent a car, or just uber/lyft around...very used to east coast city driving and traffic, so not too concerned about that.

Thanks in advance for any possible guidance.

This winter we did 5 days in LA and 5 at Disneyland. We rented an Air bnb in the Wilshire and Fairfax area so we were walking distance of a number of the places we wanted to visit. We visited the Academy of Motion Picture museum. Loved it; my DS would have spent 2 days there. DH& DS visited the Petersen Automotive Museum 3rd or 4th time for them. Both of these museums had restaurants that were very good. Since I'm not a car enthusiast, I visited the LA Bea Tar Pit museum. It was fascinating and I kept thinking I'm learning so much that I'll never remember! We also visited the Farmer's Market. We took a Lyft to Universal 1 day. My husband didn't want to drive in the city, but rideshares can get expensive. My daughter and partner rented a car and said they had no problem getting around, other than traffic is very slow.

I'd change hotels. I live in the neighborhood @crickee mentions and love the walkability and nearby activities (actually checked AirBnB out of curiosity and noticed several listings in my giant complex - which violates our lease but I can see why it would be a desirable place to stay!). But even living there, Hollywood and Beverly Hills can be a PITA to visit if it's the wrong time of day. I wouldn't want to bother with trekking from Inglewood. Stay at the Loew's at Ovation to be right in the middle of everything or the Magic Castle Hotel so you can catch a show at the Magic Castle.

I don't head to the beach often, but when I do it's a morning departure to Hermosa (avoiding traffic and actually finding parking). Manhattan is a close second. Love renting a beach cruiser at Hermosa Cyclery and biking the Strand.

Renting vs rideshare? Rideshares will get expensive (especially to the beach from the city), but you can expect to pay for parking pretty much everywhere you go...and finding the parking may also be a pain. If cost isn't a concern, I'd probably just go for the ease of rideshare.
