I know you experts get this question constantly, but I really need some advice. We're checking in on Saturday! I've been swamped with work (our board of ed decided it would be a great idea to plan spring break the week after our big graduation exam! ) and haven't had a chance to fax a loop request, which I suppose is good because I haven't chosen one (or two...) Anyway, it's going to be me, DH, DS8, DD4, and whatever the acronym is for the in-laws. We're not going to have a golf cart, and we're planning two days off in the campground, 5 in the parks. We won't have any pets. We will definitely be using the comfort stations for showers/laundry. I don't really know what the draw is to the meadows trading post, but I understand that the marina is good to be close to because of transportation? I read some advice earlier about the 1400 loop, and that sounds good as long as it's not going to be too important that we're near the marina. What about 400? Thanks for your future advice!!

We are checking in on Thursday. Our main concern is space on the site for our travel trailer and tent. I faxed the Fort and listed our priorities (space, closeness to transport and comfort station) and left it up to them. Figured there's no real bad loop and I want to try them all out eventually :) We're not fussed about being close to the Meadows this time as the pool will be out of commission until our last day.

Ive never requested a loop....I take what they give me...its an adventure that way...all loops are close to transportation, and transportation wil get you wherever you want to go inside the campground. I figure the more loops I stay in, the more I know about the fort...and I might stumble upon a hidden gem getting a loop that was never suggested! If its a loop in the fort...can it really be all that bad?

If you are in a tent or a pop up then 1500 or 2000 is for you.

If you're in an RV of some type then I agree with any loop is a great loop.

WE will be checking in on Sat also. I am hoping for the 300 loop. It is close to the dog run and close to the marina. I think any loop would be good. I think the premium sites might be larger then the preferred site. My DD and GS(5) GD(2) will be joining us on Monday. I am just so excited to be going to WDW. Hope what ever loop you end up in is good for you. Have a wonderful time.

I had requested the 500 loop when I made the ressie but I am thinking more along the lines of Rog at this point. I don't think I am going to fax in a request. There is something adventurous about trying new loops. We have stayed in the both the 300 and 500 loops. The more I read about the 1600-1900 loops, the more I think I would like to try that area. It appears those tend to be more quiet. My only real reservation with those areas is I remember cruising them last March in the golf cart and there were alot of sites in those areas that looked like swamps right up to the pads. I am not sure if it was due to a wet spring or not. However, pictures on this site shows some really nice sites in those areas.

At this point, I would take a parking space in the overflow lot because I am so sick of Indiana weather!

You didn't mention what level of site you have a ressie for. If it's a premium, then go for 400 or 500. If it's a preferred - go for 100, 200 or 700. These 5 loops will be the closest to the marina & Settlement Depot. If it's a full hook-up - you're stuck with 1600 or 1900.

If you have a partial hook-up, you will be in 1500 or 2000. 1500 is across from Meadow.

The comfort stations in some loops can be a hike - so if anyone has a walking disability - ask to be placed near a comfort station - which is usually close to the bus stops.

We are staying on DVC points. Currently we are listed as full hook up but I was told that we may be upgraded to preferred or premium if they are available at arrival. Apparently since the point value for all three sites is the same, they will upgrade you if an upgrade is available.

When I was last at the Fort (2/28/09) the 1400 loop was still closed and being converted to a premium loop.

I am not sure has been re-opened, or will be available for your check-in on Saturday.

At this late date, I agree that you should just take your chances. If you have reservations for a premium site, you will have a nice site, no matter what loop it is on.

1400 was still closed last Sunday (3/8). It looked like it was down to the clean-up and landscape stage. My guess is that it will be opened this coming weekend. We plan on going to ride bikes on Saturday - I'll know for sure, then. 600 still has a way to go, but you can now see the forms for some of the sites.

TCD....do you know if they plan on upgrading 1000 & 1100 to premium sites?

Deb- Thanks for the update. I suspect that you are right about 1400 opening up for this weekend. We are coming up on prime time for camping, and I can't imagine that they want too many sites unavailable to rent.

Everything that I have heard suggests that 1000 and 1100 are going to be converted to premium. Have you heard something different? I know that you have some moles on the inside that feed you info.

I am hoping to make a detour by the Fort on Friday of this week to take a quick look around.

Acquaintances of ours winter on the 1100 loop and they say it's not going to be made premium. I don't know if that's just wishful thinking or fact. If 1000 & 1100 are turned into premium, that's all loops except the clover-leaf, 100, 200 & 300. ETA: 2000 & 1500. Hmmmm, it was easier to determine a site level when you only had to choose between partial, full, or preferred.

Most of the winter people left at the end of January & went to Encore on 192W for the rest of the winter. Some I know pulled out for Christmas, went to Encore, and went back to FtW after the holiday rates were over (that's too much work if you ask me). Most of the winter people are as mad as ever with the pricing. If the snowbird's favorite loops are upgraded to premium, I doubt they will be back. Oh well....that makes more room for us! :thumbsup2

Thank you all! It's going to be a premium site, but I'm thinking that I'm going to follow the advice of so many of you and just decide that it's just going to be part of the adventure to be put in whatever loop they choose!
