Lookout Cay long pier.

I dont think anyone has presented data if you don't cross in the first 30 minutes you wont find a good seat. The only person I saw that commented on time actually said chairs stayed empty for a half hour or more. Just a lot of speculation.
The person who made that comment was sailing on the Magic which has a capacity of almost half of the Dream class ships. It's not a far stretch to say that when almost double the passengers start pouring in, those chairs will be occupied very quickly. So then of course people will drag chairs if there's open space on the beach but no more available chairs there.

Motivation to do that 10 minute walk in 8 minutes.

People slammed the Wish{me included} for not having a walking\running deck. Now they are outraged they have to walk for 10 minutes. DCL can't win.
To be fair, one is for exercise, the other is transportation. Two totally different things. I love running for exercise. I actually dislike walking!

I guess you don’t go to the parks then.

I do. But it's not one long walk. It's lots of little walks. Plus I'm not schlepping a bunch of beach gear around. I'm presumably in more appropriate footwear and not flip flops. The walk back to the ship at the end of a long day is in no way the same as strolling around the parks from attraction to attraction.

How much more money are we actually talking though?

For instance, hiring locals to move chairs. I’m guessing at most they would need a crew of 20 (plus admin so for my math I’m using an even 30) If they worked 6 hours (3 setting up, 3 taking down - which seems very high considering) even at $15 an hour seven days a week we are talking under 19k. Assuming two people in each stateroom on the larger ships which are going to be the primary ones that have issues with chairs- the cost increase? Less than $10 per guest.
Those are very optimistic numbers. They don't account for prevailing wages on the island, employment taxes, state mandated paid leave (5 weeks total of vacation, holiday, sick) , company benefits etc. There are a lot more variables then what you have up. I am sure Disney is looking into it but not sure if it will ever happen. Employment cost a lot more the what employee's see in a paycheck.

True but you can’t compare to American wages.
Ask any crew member performing unskilled labor from any island country in North or South America what their wages would be for the same job back home. It’s a pittance and that’s why they’re willing to leave their families for months at a time to work for Disney.
If Disney is already hiring some locals to work at LC, how much more would it add to the cost of a cruise to add “help CMs arrange chairs” which the CMs are already doing, to their list of tasks? Even if it took them an hour, it’s cheap. This is not a $100k/year job.

According to this, in 2022 the average annual income in the Bahamas was $31k.

It seems like, as long as you get going early, you'll get a chair by the water if that's what you want. I get that people might not WANT to wake up early, but that's when you have to weigh what's most important to you. It's not unfair that people who get off the boat early get the seats they want while others who waited have to take what's left: this is how it works in LOTS of scenarios. Like tonight, we're going to a concert and we have open seating on the lawn. For this concert, we want a good spot, so we'll get there at least an hour early. There have been other times at this same venue where we've gotten there right before the show and ended up sitting behind a pillar, but we knew that was a possibility because we weren't getting there early. Want a good spot in a theater when seats aren't assigned? Get there early. Want to avoid waiting in a long line of cars to get into a national park? Get there early. Want a good chair at your local pool in the summer? Get there early. Want to make sure you get the merch you want at your favorite store on the day that they're having a huge sale? Get there early. Want a good spot for a parade? You get the point.

So you’re saying you’ve never walked a half mile at the parks without stopping? I find that hard to believe. How much gear do you take to the beach? Don’t you carry water, sunscreen, jackets hats etc when you go to the parks? How is a beach more exhausting than a day in the parks? That is my biggest question. I feel pretty refreshed after a dip in ocean and a nap in the hammock.

Just so I understand- Your complaints about a lack of running deck is valid but complaints against LP are not?

Wages have gone in up from 2022 and the exchange rate is good for the Bahamas as of today.

According to the 2023 Salary Explorer salary survey, the national average salary of an employee working in the Bahamas is 46,700 BSD per year (Bahamian Dollar) – the local currency of the Bahamas.

This amounts to
USD $46,772.95 per year based on the exchange rate today.

The avg wage is higher in the USA at $52,940.80 (this is taking the avg wage as of July 2024 of $28.16/ hour for 40 hours a week and timing it by 47 weeks (The Bahamas government requires 5 weeks of paid time off the USA required 0. But most people take off unpaid at least 5 weeks between sick, vacation and holidays).

When I go the parks, I take a small crossbody bag that is the exact same type of bag I use in my regular day to day life. When I went to Castaway Cay, I took a small canvas bag with all of my beach stuff and everything else I needed for the day. I took more with me and in a larger bag for the beach day than on a park day.

I’m still sailing on the Wish next week and will have a great time. The lack of running track is all on Disney. There are reasons beyond Disneys control for the pier.

Can you just put it in a backpack?
