Hey all,

I've currently got a Panasonic FZ18 which I was going to use on my upcoming trip to America (in 2 weeks). But I've got a bit of spare money so I was thinking of buying a dslr while over in the states.

I would prefer either canon or panasonic but I'm not too fussed.

Basically looking for one in the sub-$1000 price range. Would prefer one in a kit with 2 lenses unless they are dodgy.

We are staying in Anaheim when we first arrive so if anyone knows a good place to get one from and an approx price that'd be great.

What would you recommend? would be mostly holiday pics but back here I love night photography and car (moving and still) photography.

Also can you get an international warranty? Don't want to buy a camera in America and if it breaks have to send it overseas to get fixed.

Thanks and sorry if I've left anything out.

There is no such thing as an international warranty.

If you buy in the US, you will get a US warranty, which will require you to ship it back to the US for warranty repairs.

Some camera are customized for various markets. For example, in the US, Canon sells the Rebel Xsi. In Europe, the same camera is known as 450D and in Japan it is the Kiss X. They are otherwise identical except for cosmetic change to firmware.

Other manufactures may actually have real feature differences between product for the US and other regions.

You better study closely before you buy anything and make sure the price difference is worth the hassle.
