I only want to add 100, but would take 150, at the right price. Guess, I will keep looking.

And, I think it also goes to show you that some sellers will take far less than the asking price. If you see one that fits your needs, offer what you want to pay. I think the worst they can say is No. Then you move on.

I am going through the same thing in terms of wanting to add on. I only want between 50 - 75 points. And, for me to buy 100 - 125 points and then commit to an extra $200 in MF's every year simply to reduce by buy in price would not be the right move for me.

But, if you are willing to buy more points if the price is right, I say go for it!!!

I just added printed my contract for a BWV add on.

I called my guide for BWV prices last week- $115 per point.

Had an offer accepted for $50 per point for 166 points.

If I'd bought from Disney, I would have bought 100 points at $11,500 total.

Got 166 points for $8300 plus $400 closing.
WOW! That's a FANTASTIC price for BWV!!! I'm so envious!!!

I do think it would be extremely difficult to find that price for a small contract such as what OP desires. However, I"m really shocked that you could find a contract of only 166 points for that price too! We paid well over that for all of our resales, even the one for 150 points. CONGRATS on your great find!!!

EDIT: After reading this post, I went to the ROFR thread to look at recent prices. WOW, have things changed quickly! It looks like you can regularly get a BWV 150-point contract in the 50's. When we purchased ours, I was so excited to have offers accepted in the 60's. Too bad we didn't wait a bit longer to purchase those extra contracts... *sigh*

I don't think anyone anticipated the results of the announcement to limit the purchasing power of resales. I thought we did pretty good on our SSR, VB and HHI purchases within the past year and a half. We've already used the SSR and VB points and I'm working on the HHI points at the 7 month mark. I would be completely out of points for this year without the HHIs.:goodvibes

But, lets say you want 50 points at BWV.

From Disney you would pay $5750.

or you could buy the resale I gave back for $6450 and have one hundred points.

Yep, the fees are doubled. You'll pay $536 per year in MFs for a hundred point contract instead of $268.

If you don't need the extra points, transfer them at a point you can give a renter the 11 month window at a minimum of 10 per point ( I'd ask more if I was giving the ll month window for F&W or December )

At $10 per point, you've paid ALL of your MFs for the year with the exception of 36 bucks.

If you have a special trip planned here and there, great, you've now got the extra points to do it.

It may be a little work, but in the end you've saved so much money that I just can't imagine making the Disney prices work.

Believe me, I've considered all of this, because my original # of points to buy was 100.
I got that contract for $6100
I got my 166 point contract for $8300...I will ( some years I'm sure ) transfer out at least 66 points and that money will go towards MFs.

We thought the same thing. We also saw the 150pt contracts at BWV going for $50-60 but I just don't want to pay $5.46 x 150 points to do an add-on. I also don't want the hassle of renting points out. So we're "overpaying" for a 50 point contract. It hurt at first, but better safe than sorry. I think that BWV (unlike BCV) will fall back down to $50s pretty quickly after 3/20, since that's what it was at before the push in demand and peak in pricing lately. It's going for $60s to $70s (listed, anyway), but I don't think that will last for long. The MFs are going up too high to support that pricing.

I do understand what you are saying and I do think that anyone who is interested in dealing with transfer, rentals, etc. it can make a lot of sense.

But, personally, I would not want to worry about that aspect of it and if transfers were removed from our abilities, I could be stuck.

I just don't want to spend an extra $200 or $400 every year just to save upfront. In the end, everyone does what they are comfortable with and I am really happy that you were able to find a deal that worked for you!!!! And, it was a great deal!!!!
