ABBAFAB...an activity that says it is the music of Elton John and Billy Joel. Is this on all Magic cruises? Or was it special to the WBTA?

If an activity is in the grid "fun for all ages" does that mean something like "become Ironman" is something my 20yo DS could attend? (Not sure if he would, he'd probably be embarrassed, but I can see him loving that!)

Don't know specifically the answer to the first one but I there will be a lot of things that are only WBTA specific.

With regards to the second one, yes he could and should! Also depending on the cruise they may do an Adult only one which he could go to and be slightly less embarrassed by lol. Also if he likes marvels the Marvels Academy if they do it is great fun and you get to become an Agent of Sheild (ID and everything!)

Oh wow! if they have an adult one, he is going to flip. He was looking at the pictures of the re-magicked Magic and was bummed out that the kids club has been done over like it is. He wanted to know why they couldn't have done it 10 years ago...LOL. Maybe cause Disney didn't own Marvel 10 years ago. he is a HUGE Ironman fan.

Adults can do the Marvels Academy??

Hey all. Just got back from the cruise. The AbbaFab did indeed do a special to WBTA adult show with the music of Elton John and Billy Joel in the WD theatre.
We adults also had a two night training at the Marvel Academy fighting Red Skull and meeting, twice, Captain America thanks to our teacher Agent Munroe. We had soooo much fun creating our Avengers costumes and trying to disarm a bomb.

That sounds AMAZING!

Also I'm a huge fan of Billy Joel and it wasn't on the Magic's med itinerary at the end of August.

Nope, this kind of entertainment is usually brought into the longer (7+ nights) cruisen, which tend to be the PC, the TA and maybe some longer North European cruise. They use this to fill up the nights for which the Disney shows run out of nights...
On the PC we also had adult exclusive events in the kid's clubs. We even had officers "hide and seek", which was hilarious!

ABBAFAB has performed on some of the Magic's cruises as an ABBA cover band. For the WBTA they also performed the Elton John/Billy Joel cover sets, once for adults only in Fathoms, and then an extended set in the Walt Disney Theatre.
On the longer cruises like TA and PC, they sometimes have the guest entertainers do addl shows to pad the schedule.

On the longer cruises they do adult time in the clubs so you get extra things like they did a volcano one and a super sloppy science where you make flubber. The Marvels Academy is at like 10:30ish at night for the adult only one and is great fun. They also do a family one and again adults can go to that.

I hope it means 7+..my cruise out of NYC is 7 nights, we have 4 sea days, I am hoping they have a few "kids" activities for adults. What a hoot!

I have never seen it on 7 night cruises, but if there are few children on the sailing I suppose it may be possible.

Unfortunately there won't be. It's usually only the big crossings (Panama and the transatlantic) that they happen. They didn't even happen on the longer European cruises.

There will however be Open House events: Become Iron Man, Anyone Can Cook, Super Sloppy Science etc, which is pretty much the same thing...

Oh God I am on the EBTA next May and now I am ten times more excited!!! Will this run under the category of "open house" in the kids clubs or does it specifically say "Marvel Academy"?

It's usually something like 'adult exclusive open house: marvel academy'

The navigator had "becoming Ironman" listed under the "fun for all ages" grid. If the other activities are for adults like someone said, it would be listed under the adults grid.

I would be leery joining in a kids club open house. A) I don't have any "kids" anymore, so why would I be there checking it out and B) I think it would be a ton of kids trying it out, to determine if they will like the clubs or not. So it would be awkward for myself or even my 20yo to partake in the open house activities.

You know, I have never really had any suggestions for DCL, until now. I really think it would be a BLAST if they had adult time in the clubs. It should be a regular thing, available on all cruises!!! Cause really, to love Disney as much as most of us do, we really are big kids when we are on a Disney vacation. I think it would be very popular.

I don't think it is very likely to have this as a regular thing due to the amount of kids that are in the clubs on most cruises and the fact that there are already many complaints about how the open houses force all the kids into one club during that time. It might work on those cruises with less kids, but so many adults use the clubs as "daycare" that this would cause even more complaints about too many kids spread over the large age range forced into one location. DCL will tell you that the open house time is time for adults to experience some of the things in the clubs.

As others have said it will be noted on there either as "Open House" or "Adult Exclusive". They sometimes have it as both or one of these options. Its always marked though as Marvels Academy. They also have Becoming Iron Man which is different to this but still fun.

I have no kids (36 yo) and travel solo but take part in open house activities on the Transatlantics each year. There aren't actually that many kids and so you don't feel too out of place. However I did go to Aladdin's adventure once and I was the only person who turned up. Unfortunately the kids club reps insisted I stayed and played it anyway (which as a 35 year old was pretty strange) but it was fun and I had a great memory! The kids club areas are fantastic and I think its personal preference as to whether you find it weird or not. Most people are happy enough queuing for character photos so why not go to the kids club and take part in an activity?

You will really enjoy it! It is definitely popular and in fact I've seen more adults in the kids club than kids some days on the TAs. Plus the kids clubs are so cool with lots of extra features and fun little extras (hidden mickeys in paintings are really fun to search for)

We just got back from the Magic rerouted cruise that was supposed to go to the Bahamas but went to Canada. I don't know if it was because it was a non routine cruise but we had Hide and Seek with the Officers as well. It was an 8 day cruise if that makes any difference.

We had the Officer Hide and Seek on our EBTA last May.
