So, we are currently booked from Sept 25 - Oct 3 in a 1BR at Boardwalk which cost us 237 points. I'm starting to get a bit nervous about what the experience will be like in the parks and even outside of the parks come September. I was messing around on the DVC website to see if anything was open in the same timeframe (I was bored) and I noticed that there is an Ocean View Studio available at Aulani for only 200 points. We're considering switching our reservation to Aulani instead of the Boardwalk. I'm interested in what you guys think about that.

For some context, we really enjoy all of the different table service options. We're getting concerned that if distancing guidelines are still in place in September, we may lose some of our ADRs. We also like to wander around the parks and ride a lot of different rides. We're also concerned that experience could be impacted by the safety measures that will be put in to place.

We love Aulani, but it is expensive to go there because of the airfare. I agree that the park experience is going to be impaired at WDW - so why not go for a beach vacation at Vero Beach or Hilton Head instead? If these are in driving distance, it's much easier to cancel, plus the guest density at Vero Beach is fairly low, so the risks of getting infected are lower too.

They’re both not available for that timeframe. Otherwise we probably would do Hilton Head.

I would definitely wait to see how things progress with Hawai’i before considering Aulani. It’s a beautiful resort, but at the moment there is a 14 day quarantine for any visitors to Hawaii. This doesn’t mean you’re restricted to the resort, it means you’re confined to your room. A couple were arrested very recently for leaving their hotel room to buy takeaway.
It’s possible it may reopen soon, but this could be just for staycations for locals. I can understand why you’re considering cancelling, but I would hold off on booking anything else for now.
