Looking for transportation info. in Davenport, FL?

A relative may be staying for the winter at Village of La Casa del Sol in Davenport, FL and will not have transportation.

They would like to know if there is a public bus service to take her to shopping/groceries? Also wondering where the closest car rental agency is so she can rent a car for a few days at a time.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if Davenport is affected, but when I was in Orlando last week everyone was commenting how many of the local taxi drivers are on strike right now, and it's very very difficult to get cabs right now.

I am not aware of any bus service out here. There may be some small car rental agencies but no large chains.

There used to be an Alamo at I-4 and 27, I believe. Dont think its there anymore. They're building a HUGE new lifestyle center at I-4 and 27 right now though, so she may be able to leisure shop there. They also recently completed a Publix 3-4 miles south on 27 from Casa del Sol by the Heart of Florida Hospital.

They may need to rent a car, are they coming in from the airport? That would be the place to do it.

She actually would like to stay at this complex for 3-4 months and would like a rental car for a few days per month.

How far is this complex from public transportation that could take her to a car rental place and to some shopping? She could take a taxi to a bus stop if it is not too many miles.
