Looking For Suggestions

I am planning on buying a video camera for our trip to Disney next year. I am willing to spend up to $800 as a maximum. I am just looking for a good quality camera that can take pictures and is good in low lighting conditions. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Almost all cameras can also take video.
Are you looking for a low light video camera that can also take pics?
Or a good low light camera that can also take video?

The Sony Rx100 is the top of the line point & shoot. Very good in low light (not as good as a top level dslr, but better than other P&s, as good as entry level dslr's). And it allows photo capture while taking video.

Can you clarify that you are looking for a video camera or a camera that takes stills and video. As Havoc has stated, most cameras today can do both, but that doesn't necessarily mean they do both well. While the video on still cameras is getting better, it is my experience that a dedicated video camera will do better job with video.

I was thinking more of a video camera that can take still pictures. sorry for the confusion lol

In terms of overall video quality, I have read that the Sony HX20 is as good as any 2-3 year old consumer camcorder. (yes, a $350 point and shoot can be better than a $800 camcorder bought a few years back). The combination of 1080 60p 28mbps AVCHD video with 3-way optical stabilization with really nice auto focus and auto metering is quite amazing. The RX100 should be better with less zoom. But, this year's top of the line Canon and Sony camcorders are even better.

But there are limitations with a camera because you hold it like a camera (you could buy a pistol grip) and most camera makers comply with the EU 30 minute continious limit. The Sony camera also does not include a mic input.
If the OP was interested in a camera, the Panasonic FZ 200 would be another choice with a brighter lens and a mic input.

For the OP, I would probably be looking into the Canon VIXIA line.
