Looking for Something NEW

Have you seen Yee Haw Bob? We have been many many times and I make it my mission to always find something different. Sometimes it seems like a struggle, but we always manage to find something: different restaurant, an attraction we have never done because it seems dumb but we do anyway, party, tour, new resort, Disney Quest. In all honesty I think HDDR would be better than Mickey's backyard BBQ for your group. If you get a close to the stage table, it's a lot of fun.

I can totally relate. We go every year for the past 7 years. To keep things new for us, we do something new each trip. I try to plan a few new things. Last trip, we hung out the countries to see all the little side shows. The magicians, jugglers, gymnasts, etc. We had a blast. We also ate at a few new restaurants.

This trip (August 2015) we plan on doing HDDR for the first time. We are a family of five and have stayed at POR the last 6 trips! Since CBR opened up family of five rooms, we are so excited to try a new resort!

We are still trying to decide on a few new experiences for our group without spending $. Looking forward to when HS and AK open up their new attractions!

Maybe you have been to Disney too much, too recently, and that's what's taking the excitement out of the planning. We used to go annually, or twice a year, and after one trip I realized that, as much as I love Disney, we were going just too frequently for it to be exciting- no anticipation, no "missing WDW" was happening. That's when we cut back to going every 2 years, and that's been a great time interval for us.

Let's see… things to do… Illuminations or Wishes cruises. La Nouba. Ride a boat from either POR or OKW to DTD and back. Tea at the Grand Floridian. Wishes dessert party. Are they still doing Illuminations Dessert parties? Does your sister enjoy swimming/being in the water? If so, check and see if the water parks can accommodate her. Go to the Boardwalk Inn and ride the Friendship over to Epcot, then to DHS, then back to the Boardwalk and have lunch or supper at the new restaurant there. If you are staying at AKL I believe there are some special safari-related events you could look into. Focus on the SWW aspect if you haven't been before- there are usually special events happening at this time.

Don't worry about your lack of "planning excitement." I think it'll come back after you have been absent for WDW for a year or more!

I don't really have the money to go someplace else this year....I know that may sound odd, but we have APs just for the year, so the tickets were paid for last summer, and my parents will get the room for us using their vacation club points. So, all we need to pay for is food which will consist of basically one meal eating out each day (and the rest in the room) and transportation (we drive, so a couple hundred for gas).

I hear you.... have you spent time exploring and enjoying the disney resort you are staying at? plus all the other ones that are so themed and interesting.... there are boat rides (free and paid) monorail runs, different bars, various nonpark entertainments(Boardwalk,Fort Wilderness) and eating experiences within parks at at resort, downtown disney..... It is like an all inclusive little city, with so much to do! I actualy enjoy the rides the least out of all the things to do at Disney...they're cool, but I like other things better.:cool1:

I understand the frustration- it must be hard to try to accommodate and make everyone happy if you're the one planning!

Not sure which resort you're staying at, but we rented DVC at the AKL last October and had a blast just enjoying the resort! So many animals to look at from many viewing areas!

I would at least suggest having dinner at Sanaa and then after, go outside and view the animals through the night vision goggles!
