Looking for some sewing tips

A friend of mine is working on a book project and has asked me to come up with any sewing tips I can provide for possible inclusion in her book (due out August 2009). I've gotten a few from different people and have been keeping a list for her, giving credit to the tipsters.

I was hoping the Creative Community would be able to help. If you have any sort of helpful sewing tip you'd like to share, I will pass them along to her (again giving credit).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

ETA: If she chooses to use a tip that's been submitted, the person who provided the tip will receive an signed advance reader copy of the book before it's official release.
