Wow thats a hard one. I don't think in fact I know that i would never let my kids go to Disney w/ out me for the first time. Selfish maybe but I like to think of it as one of the major joys of being a parent being taken away. I mean come on we live to see our kids that in awe and so happy!! Saying no would be hard but you got one here backing ya up. Good luck.

I would not be able to do that. I'd hate to miss all of the excitement on that first trip! :goodvibes

My daughter's first trip is in a couple days, the hubby and I are taking her, and meeting my in-laws, and sister-in-law, and her hubby and 4 kids there. I'm so excited! Anyway, maybe you could suggest a family trip, telling him that you'd feel bad for either of you to miss it? So, that way, your FIL, and you will both be able to be there for his first trip!

Why don't you all go??? :confused3

It might be mean to say no, but I think it is understandable. I wouldn't let me 5yo go for the first time without me. OK, he and DS2 has been, but DS1 hasn't and he won't go for the first time until we go as a family.

I wouldn't let my 5yo go with Grandpa...not because of the "first time" thing but because I keep a better eye on my child than my FIL does. I'd be worried their entire trip that DS would disappear, get lost, snatched, etc.

I would have no problem saying NO. if you want to, when you feel the time is right to go as a family, invite him along. but nope, I wouldn't want my child going without me...at least not that young, and not the first time.
