I'm looking for a character breakfast that's relatively calm. I'm taking my Mom, who's 72, not used to alot of commotion at meal time. Since we're staying at BCV, she thought she'd enjoy Cape May Cafe. I know she does like Buffet meals and was hoping this might be a good choice. I know no character meal is going to be calm-I'm just talking relatively.

I've never been to Cape May, but I've heard others describe it as a relaxing character meal experience when compared with others, so it sounds like that may be the perfect choice for you. :D

We thought the character meal at the Grand Floridian was very relaxing. A bit more classy then some of the others we've been to.

Gulliver's at the Swan for dinner is probably the most relaxing character meal you'll find. There's only 2 characters there nightly (either Pluto & Goofy or Timon & Rafikki). You have a choice of a buffet or you can order from their menu. It's never too busy.

Another enjoyable character meal is at the Garden Grille in Epcot. The food is served all you can eat family style so you won't have to get up. The characters come to your table so you can relax since everything is brought to you. You might want to check your dates though because rumor has it that it may be closed for a few months with the Soaring ride going in that bldg.

Cape May's breakfast is a good one too, but there is a little more commotion since it is a buffet and it is generally pretty busy.

All are within walking or boating distance from your resort.

The calmest yet most enjoyable we have ever done is LTT at the MK. It is family style not buffet but the food and characters are awsome.

We have eaten at the character breakfast buffet at Cape May several times. It is the most laid back of the character meals I have been to. We try to go around 9:30 when the crowd has thinned out a bit.

We found the character breakfast at 'Ohana to be pretty tame.

Because we have very young children, we prefer non-buffet meals so we don't have to rush around and take turns getting food for us & them.

Garden Grill was calm, but with the outer tables you sit in a round booth that can be difficult to get out of (if you want pictures other than around the table). The upper tables have chairs. If it's just the two of you, it doesn't matter.

Ohana for breakfast had a lot of kids, but it was pretty much like a normal disney restaurant with characters. We liked having the food brought to us so we could just sit and relax. No fighting crowds at the buffet line either!

We're going to try Liberty Tree Tavern on our next trip.

I would agree that 1900 PF & LTT would be great. I would go to breakfast at 1900 PF, and LTT is only a character meal at dinner. I don't remember CMC being that loud, but we just didn't care for the food. We ate there at dinner. Have a great trip, and you're very blessed to be able to share this with your Mom. :)

Here is another vote for Garden Grill in Epcot. It was very laid back with great character interaction & very good food.

I have to agree with Liberty Tree Tavern, if you will be going to the Magic Kingdom. The other meals that we took my grandmother to, she sort of liked, but she still raves about LTT. The food is family style (and it's really a lot like Thanksgiving, or Christmas), the characters aren't super pushy, just good interaction, and the decor is kind of neat too. It can get a little loud, if there are a lot of birthdays, but it's not over the top. It's really the most laid back; they really don't rush you.

Have done characters at both Garden Grill and LTT in MK.

Both are relaxing, but last time we ate at LTT, it was for lunch (non-character)
and we sat in a back room where it seemed especially calm and quiet.

But even character dinners at LTT are nice... bit more laid back than others... especially something like Chef Mickey's.

Garden Grill is always a treat for a first-timer with the changing view (if you sit on the outside circle) and we have always had great characters at both.

Since you asked about character breakfasts, I just wanted to point out that several of the responses you're getting are for dinner, or lunch and dinner. Garden Grill has lunch and dinner character meals, while LTT only has characters at dinner. Of course, character lunches and dinners can be every bit as fun as character breakfasts, so maybe you'll decide on one of those meals instead! :D

Garden Grill you feel very secluded due to the seating. This is very nice. You can't really see other people in their booths. (I'd check on this, though as Garden Grill is closed due to Soarin construction sometime soon?)

Liberty Tree Tavern is also very nice and not so wild.

Although I love Grand Floridian buffet, I find it a tad stressful.

Cape May Cafe is nice and quiet.

Don't forget that the Land Pavillion will be closed Jan-Mar, so that might eliminate the Garden Grill. If you are looking for a quiet character b'fast, avoid Chef Mickey's (like the plague!). O'Hana at the Poly has a kid's parade around the dining room BUT you can ask (no guarantee) to be seated in the area behind the cooking area- much quieter here than in the major dining area. B'fast at 1900 Park Faire can get pretty loud...there's a huge calliope playing throughout your meal. Crystal Palace is bustling but not particularly loud, and it's very pretty. I think both Princess b'fasts (CRT and PSB) are fairly orderly and calm but I wouldn't recommend them- it's almost impossible to get a PS for either of them. Don't kow anything about any of the others...although "quiet" is not the first adjective that springs to mind when describing a character b'fast-sorry!

Garden Grille, LTT, and O;Hana's seem to be the least noisy and hectic from our experiences.

The character breakfasts at the Swan and Dolphin have always been very low key and quiet for us.

I agree - the way the restaurant is set up it is like little private rooms, where the characters wander in and out.

Since you are staying at the BCV, my choice would be for the Cape May Cafe. It has both the convenience of proximity and is pretty laid back depending on when you go.

I agree with those who said Cape May Cafe. The food is excellent and there doesn't seem to be the commotion that is common at Chef Mickey's and Donald's Breakfastasaurus.
