Looking for reasonably priced condo in Florida Keys?

We are looking to rent a reasonably priced efficiency or condo unit in the Florida Keys for christmas and New Years week (2 week period) . Since we are going over Christmas/NYE, the prices I have come across so far are understandably quite high.
Our requirements: safe, clean, sleeps 4 and must have a full kitchen.

So far I have looked at vrbo and vacationrentals.com.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My DSis tells me you should try www.oceanpointesuites.com She has stayed there many times and it is reasonably priced, safe (gated with a guard), and have full kitchens. They are 1 and 2 bedroom condos and sleep 4-6 people. They have a pool, hot tub, tennis courts, and a small restaurant with free continental breakfast. Jean

The keys are a pretty big area -- do you want to be in Key Largo (mile marker 119) or Key West (mile marker 0). US highway 1 is the only road. Most places give their location by mile marker.

I live at mile marker 5 (just outside of Key West) so I'm partial to and know more about Key West.

My parents always stayed at sunrise suites, http://www.sunrisekeywest.com/

They are 2 bedroom 2 bath condos with kitchen and living room and nice balcony. Located near the airport in Key West. They are about four miles from downtown and Duval Street. Duval is the center of old town Key West -shopping / nightlife / attractions / sunset celebration / etc. From this location, having a vehicle would be a plus. If you opt to stay in the old town area, you could get by without a car.

Christmas / NYE is the busiest time and of course the rates reflect that as well.

The Hyatt has four timeshare condo's here, two of them are downtown, one at the beach and one just as you get onto the island of Key West.

The Galleon is downtown at the harbor area - terrific location but the units are a little dated - my BIL and his family stayed there last October, I think their 'home' condo/timeshare is in Orlando and they traded weeks thru RCI.

We've stayed at Hawk's Cay as well about 5 years ago (in a regular room though, not a condo) and while it's very nice (and pricey), it's also not near the hustle and bustle of Key West, which is where I'd personally like to stay over Christmas/New Years. We honeymooned in the Keys (a night or 2 in Key Largo, and about 10 nights in Key West). We stayed at a small condo on Fleming Street - I believe it was called Fleming Grove back then (we're talking 15+ years ago). It was great though - only 3 or 4 units, it's own pool, full kitchen and living room with bedroom upstairs and our own private jacuzzi outdoors. I don't believe it's the same place anymore however. We could walk to everything - never needed the car except to go to the other Keys.
You could search for condos on Fleming Street and see what comes up.

yeah if you want more nightlife key west in your place. with us having kids a one day trip was enough. we couldnt of picked a better resort than hawks cay! we never used the car. everything was right there..

we stayed here about 4years ago,it's in cudjoe key which isn't far from key west,it isn't a condo it's cottages and the owner's are very nice,my kids liked it here alot.we've also stayed in hawk's cay which is beautiful but pricey.if you haven't been to the keys before be sure to go to key west and bahia honda state park.
