Anyone ever stay at the following hotels?

Masters Inn Maingate
Howard Johnson Maingate West
Howard Johnson Maingate East
Howard Johnson Resort & Suites at Airport

We are considering staying at one of those hotels, and we would like to hear comments about them. We aren't looking for a fancy hotel with a lot of amenities- just want a nice and clean place to sleep that is fairly close to WDW.

Thanks. :)

Hi

I stayed at the Howard Johnson Maingate East last August and found it to be clean and the staff helpful. It's nothing grand but the rooms are of a good size and there's a pool, and free transfers to the disney parks. There's no food court in the hotel, but there's an IHOP, and a Shoneys very close (right next door!).
Watermania is also right beside the hotel and is good for "rest day". Old Town is across the road, about 10mins walk away, and has some nice shops. If you are hiring a car there is ample free parking.

I noticed recently that the HoJo were offering a great deal, I can't remember exactly what it was, but may have been something like $39-49 a night.

Hope this helps -I would recommend staying here if you are looking for clean accomodation, conveniently located to Disney (less than 10mins drive) at a reasonable price.

If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them.

I stayed at Howard Johnson Maingate West Resort summer before last and everything was great and it is super convenient to all the parks/restuarants/shopping (a hop and skip). Our room was spacious, clean, and in neat condition; staff as well as housekeeping was friendly along with courteous. I would stay here again definitely and reccommend this place to others! Hope this helps some.

My wife and I stayed at the MG East Hojos in June 2000. We paid $45 which included an upgrade to a poolside room. They call this a "Deluxe Double," and it includes a microwave and a refrigerator. I highly recommend paying the extra ten bucks. These rooms are a short walk to the pool.

We found ME to be an excellent hotel. We aren't "resort needy" people, but rather wanted a place that was clean, functional, with a nice pool, and centrally located near the parks and convenience shopping. ME provided all of that. Knowing what I know now, I'd bargain harder for a better price if going off season. We went the BW Lake Buena Vista route via Priceline for this fall ($30 via Priceline). I couldn't see paying $15 more per night than a DD resort. But truth be known, we'd have preferred Hojos.

Can't say enough about having a clean, large pool ten feet from your room. They have two pools, we stayed at the one that didn't have the tiki bar. Personally, I'd recommend that. Less traffic, less noise.

Thanks to those that have commented on HoJos! I'm still looking for info. on Masters Inn. Hotel Kingdom has a special there- book 2 nights get 3rd night free. ANYONE?

We stayed at the Master's Inn maingate on June 8 for 1 night. It was clean and just very basic, 2 beds, a table with 2 chairs, a dresser and the bathrom. The sink area was outside the bathroom. I saw the special at hotel kingdom also and that makes the room only about $24 per night. We have an annual pass and are considering going back down in August and if we do we may stay at this Master's Inn. If not we may try to bid on priceline as I understand they are offering a downtown Disney hotel at $27 per night- the Best Western I believe.
