I'm turning 50 this year and it is also our 25th anniversary. So in October we are spending 3 days at DL, staying on site, and then spending another week driving the coast and eventually ending in San Francisco before we fly home.

We need a hotel in the LA area so we can spend a couple days doing the Hollywood/tourist thing.

We don't plan to drive straight to San Francisco though, we'd ideally like to stop somewhere mid-way and tour a couple days out from that base hotel, and then move on to our final stop and spend a few days touring from an SF base.

Big splurge will be Disney for sure, leaning towards Grand Californian, but it may be to big of a splurge.

So something not too pricey per night would be great.

Thanks!!

We stayed at the Beach House Inn last May in Santa Barbara and really enjoyed it. Easy walking distance to the pier, train station and downtown area. We took the train up from San Diego and the walk with our luggage was really easy and went through a nice neighborhood. There is quite a wine area nearby and most wineries have tasting rooms in town. Also a good number of breweries. The mission, city hall, and zoo were all fun to visit. Cold Spring Tavern is a fun place for lunch a little way into the mountains above town, it used to be the stage coach stop.
