Can anyone point me in the right direction or share your experience?? The menu on allears.net doesn't give hardly any info and we are looking for a buffet for dinner at hollywood studios or at one of the resorts that are accessible by walking.

TIA

We had lunch there last year and, although I didn't care too much for the character experience (my kids are really shy) I thought the buffet had some very interesting (and tasty) choices. There was a wide variety of entrees and they were all very unique -- not your run of the mill buffet food at all. I am guessing that the dinner buffet would have some of the same offerings and if that is the case, it is certainly worth a try. Here is a link to some reviews on allears that might help:

Sorry...this one of only two restaurants at Disney that we absolutely refuse to ever go to again. It was terrible from the service to the food to the cleanliness.

weve been to B/L and Dinner here many times and love it, right now its geared to young kids entertainment(Einsteins JoJo) Our DD5 loved it twice last yr but is too old for them now :3dglasses :rotfl:
IMHO food was great and varried, and chara were rushed but fun, lots of energy and dancing/participation here! Try it.:cool1:
The buffet has tons of basic american buffet fare! Salad bar and ice cream, whats not to like?:worship: :cheer2:

Last August we had a good experience for dinner. Nothing fancy, but good food in a cool(it was sooo hot outside) casual environment. We chose the Fantasmic package and I'm glad we did. Brenda our server was awesome! My 6yo nephew ate well there and was very engrossed in the activity sheet too; more so than any other place we ate that week. I left more than full :guilty: .

We really like H & V and eat there everytime. It's the one place in HS that we think is really good. It is a buffet...so keep that in mind. But they have alot of choices. And the food has always been good.

H&V is a "do not miss" place for us! My kids would be SO disappointed if we missed this "Disney tradition". We always do the Fantasmic package for dinner, so I can't comment on the character lunch.
It's a great buffet with lots to choose from...peel and eat shrimp, pastas, a carving station, yummy spoon bread...there's really too much to list. I appreciate the "kid fare" station (chicken nuggets, hot dogs, mac & cheese, fries, etc) and the dessert bar is wonderful! We have never had bad service here or been disappointed. :goodvibes
My only negatives about the place is that it can be a little noisy (doesn't deter me, but might be a little much for those looking for a quiet dining experience) and it shares restrooms with the 50's Prime Time, so there can be a wait in the ladies' room.
You will get such mixed reviews on this place...I suggest that you give it a try and see what you think! :thumbsup2

#1 in fun for the kids IMO! If they are into Little Einsteins and/or JoJo's Circus! They danced SO much and all the kids were involved in parading around the restaurant with the characters! The waiter we had was awesome! The had a special area for the kids buffet that was shorter and offered kids type food. I don't even recall what us big people had to eat but I don't recall being upset about anything...we did lunch there. We were ultra pleased and have booked it again for our trip this Oct for our DD and the friends we are meeting up with there to enjoy! Its a must do for the little ones to have a rip roaring, dancind fun time!

You'll find a lot of mixed reviews about H&V but it's my favorite restaurant there. We went for dinner (with the fantasmic package) & the food was hot, fresh, and very good! I swear they have the most amazing seafood pasta dish

We did the Fantasmic dinner package and really enjoyed the food. We did wait for 45 min past our ADR but luckily I made the ressies early enough that it didn't matter. They had peel and eat shrimp (small but good) and a large choice of food and desserts.

My kids and I enjoy eating here every year. Yes it can get loud but the food is good IMO. We have never had ad service. The one year my daughter took a few bites of food then fell asleep through the rest of dinner, the waiter refused to charge us for the little she ate. We have never had a problem.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but we ate here and did not like it. We were on the fantasmic package and were very disappointed. The food was meh, and the tables seemed to be jammed more together from the last time we were there. I do not know if with the DDP they are putting more tables in but it was crammed! We can handle noise, but we had 2 tables super close to us with children under the age of 5 and they were running around, throwing food, i know you shouldn't count this in but it still did not make the experience a wonderful one if you know what i mean. The waitress was slow on the drinks and getting plates off the table and refilling. I mean I understand when like 3-5 plates might pile but there were like 7-8 plates waiting and empty glasses for like 10 min. That is a bit slow. Honestly I think this might have to do with the DDP though, she knew she was getting her gratuity regardless because this was prior to the change where we pay so what did she care? It sucks we have to now pay gratuity but maybe this will make sure service improves, though this was the only restaurant I can say that service was truly poor. Also we waited 45-hour past our ADR, which was ok because some went off while others waited, it just got a tad bit blah after 30 min. We found the food to be mediocre, 2 left and a few hours later not feeling that great. One does have a soy allergy so there might have been something that she ate accidently, but the other is a pretty strong stomach person. Though who knows, not going to say it was H&V for sure because it could have been various things. Some parts of the buffet were fresh while others not so much. Found that some items were a little more gourmet than others which was really nice until we tried it and decided sticking to the all american items was a better idea. Also a portion of the dessert bar was closed because of some malfunction with the cooling.

We have had lunch and dinner and have enjoyed both. They even have prime rib for dinner.

Had dinner there once, it was horrible. The service was non existant..had to hunt the server down for our check, drinks were not refilled, tables around us and ours were not cleared...we just piled our dishes on top of the dirty table next to ours, the food was terrible...we wont be back

in 2006 with the whole family and enjoyed it very much. Food was hot and fresh - waiter did not speak much English but was attentive and pleasant. It was loud though.

Last year, just me & DD, not so good. Seated at a table practically in the aisle, constantly bumped by kids running around (why do parents allow this? I would have had my butt paddled for such behavior!!!) nothing good on the buffet except salad, fruit & cold shrimp. Missed the Pot Roast & green beans (why do WDW green beans taste SO GOOD?!?!?)

Which experience will you get, who knows:confused3 . We're trying Mama Melrose this year.

We are too after our experience!

Sounds like our service...hmmmm maybe the same person

We haven't been yet but have a lunch ADR for Sept. We are going for the character experience- my almost 4 y/o loves Jojo's circus and Little Einstein's and I think she and my 6 y/o will have a lot of fun. We aren't going for the food- I am sure it is edible and that we will have a decent lunch! I hear more bad reviews about this restaurant than any other it seems, but I still think it looks fun for my kids :)
