Kara - honestly I haven't a clue. I know that I used the calculators on H&R's site free to estimate our taxes, and I was right on the money. Have you tried that?

OK, so my mom had double knee replacement done with a spinal!!!! What a woman! I thought my dad was kidding when he called me! But she said they gave her the option and she took a sedative which caused her to doze off and on, otherwise she was awake and talking to the nurse while they gave her new knees!!!!

.

and as for your mom :faint: I'd be like - morphine pump please. :goodvibes

DBIL is back in jail again. :sad2: SERIOUSLY! His mom makes me so mad - she treats him like a big 32 year old baby. Remember when he totaled the car? Something about drinking/doing drugs while driving will do this to you.

I've ran through every emotion with this kid, but he is 31 and should grow up. I told him I wish he'd either commit to getting straightened up, or go to jail where he can't hurt anyone. It is just so frustrating. Carlos' parents bail him out EVERY single time. Even his wife (who isn't that much better) hasn't paid his bail the last THREE TIMES which is since CHRISTMAS! :sad2:

I seriously love my kids, but I can't make my MIL understand that I would not keep bailing them out in the situation. I'd stick their behind in rehab - but not keep bailing them out of jail.

He was drunk one night and swung at a police officer, so now he has a felony on his record and can't maintain work. It is just such a mess. He lives in Orlando and just stays in trouble.

Okay, rant over... I can't say this stuff to Carlos, because he thinks I'm too hard about this. Seriously, if he as an adult wants to kill himself that is up to him, but when he drives his choice is affecting innocent people - people with families who love them. It just makes me furious!

I totally agree with you Lorrie. But it's so hard to say what we would do in those situations, ya know? I think one time, maybe, but that would probably be enough for me.

As for rehab, I get to tell people my mom is going to rehab! :rotfl2: She'll be there for 2 weeks once she gets out of the hospital. We gave her a can of WD40 in her flowers, too. :rotfl2:

I use taxactonline - I've used it for the past 4 years and love it! It's simple, I did our taxes in about an hour. But I just don't know if I"m reading that right about the alternative minimum tax. But it made such a HUGE difference in our refund!

Good for you on the income tax! :cheer2:

And the wd40 is just too funny! :rotfl2:

BIL seriously has been doing this for so long. If I were to say that he's been in jail over the past 5 years less than 20 times, I think it would be a lie. All drinking/driving related or domestic disturbance/drugs.

He did rehab for 3 days Christmas and his mom swore he changed in that amount of time. Yeah - right. That is why he's been in jail 3 times since.

I'm shutting up about it now. It just makes me mad that my inlaws don't have the money for all this crap and it just keeps piling on, and they keep going in debt for attorney fees and fines and bail (that he skips out on).

Oh Lorrie...why are these people trying to bring you down when you are in your happy place planning your trip! ***!!! Right?

How is your poor cousin doing? I hope he is OK. Hope horrible what he is going through.

Kara.... so glad your Mom is doing good. I feel for you with the BSIL but men are men and they are useless...in a good way now when you tell her she owes you THIS money you can remind her again of the OTHER money!!!

I just ran around today trying to play catch up after being MIA with the flu. Wow! That was nasty...but at least it hits ya, knocks you out and then is over! I am pooped now though.

So Jeff spent $50 on flowers and his sister is supposed to pay us back. He honestly said he didn't want her to do it b/c he thought she would take our money and only put her family's name on the card. Seriously. :sad2:

Lorrie - I can hardly wait for you to meet these people! :rotfl2:

Yes, me too - I sware - she is a piece of work!

Everyone - my cousin is out of surgery. They thought it would take a couple of hours, ended up taking 8. It was much, much worse than they originally thought, so they did more grafting than they had planned. He was stable in recovery as of last hour. I don't know if that will push back his rehab. Poor thing - at least he finished his football season already.

So get this, part of the reason the damage was so bad was the idiot employer got scared and poured vinegar over the burn (my mom says that is a home remedy for a non-blistered burn, but I've never heard that) so that made things worse. The stupid employer didn't even call anyone. Poor kid called 911 himself 30 minutes after it happened. :sad2:

But all that aside, he has a rough recovery, but he is doing well after surgery and has a very positive attitude. He is such a good kid.

Alright, off to bed. Have a good one everyone!

It wa 16 here when I took Nicolas to school. brrrr....

We'll be 60 by the weekend. No wonder I stay all messed up!

It has been in the 50s here again. 20s at night though.

Ooh Kara - I hope you and Ally can meet us. Lauren would be so excited! MK is open late that night - until 2 am. You can crash with us at SSR for the night, if you'd like - I have a studio and Lauren and I just had plans to sleep in on Monday (President's Day) and go to the pool if it's warm enough.

I have the birthday cake hotline #. Haven't called yet, but have looked at some cakes on the cake thread; some are so cute. So, tell me if I'm over-thinking this too much: I'm trying to choose the night to have the cake that would allow us to still have days to enjoy leftovers but would not be a pain to carry around with us after dinner. Should I just accept that we'll just have some at dinner and I'll leave it? Kara - I was thinking the Yachtsman also; that's our last night at SSR, so we'll probably just walk around the BW after dinner and go back to the room. But Lauren REALLY loves the dessert there, so then why have the cake too? Then I was thinking to have it at Fulton's on Monday night - the desserts there are just ok; it's not on the DDP, so dessert isn't included anyway, but we get those big snacks at Goofy's in DTD; do I really want to have the cake that night too? My last thought is our last night at LeCellier - it would be nice way to end our last night's dinner and then I would just leave the cake there.

I know - I'm worrying way too much about something so trivial. Thoughts, anyone?

I would vote for Fulton's. It's not far to SSR to bring the cake back. You could probably leave it at the front if you have more DTD to do. 10 DAYS!!!!!:cheer2:

Mom is out of surgery, all went well, but she's gonna be in recovery for 3 hrs! I'm sure she's got a few days of pain in front of her, but hopefully this will all be better for her after a couple of months.

I'm glad your mom is doing well. Still praying for her recovery.

Kara, I'm glad to hear she is out of surgery and all went well! Hopefully the recovery with be fast and smooth!

I just called Dis Dining to tweak the reservations a bit - I did get an earlier Ohana - which was good until she asked would we have a car. I said - nope, not planning on it. She seemed very on the top of her game so I sort of trust her - she told me that the buses only started running an hour before park opening, so we'd need to get a taxi to make it there in time. :headache:

I thought I read somewhere that they had a Character Dining bus. If this is true, then I need to undo these because there is no way we can make it there by 8 am!

Everyone knows how I feel about the bus- but if you are taking a resort bus, you have to get to the Trans Center or MK and then take the monorail over to the Poly. I would just take a cab that time, and take the monorail back out. How fun to be in the planning stages!:cool1:

Erin - enjoy the snow! those are such fun days for us too! We get snow here typically about 1 day/yr as well. It is always so exciting.

Okay, even though I know the teasing is coming, I need to post my ADRs and ask for help on what to take off. I booked quite a few because I'm waiting for the May Schedule to come out. I am working off May 08 - so fingers crossed it will be similar! If not, I'm toast!

Arrival: arrive @ 1pm 6:05pm Boma (to meet BSIL, and Kara too! :rotfl2: )
Sun: 8:00am Norway (EPCOT), 5:05 Park Fair (GF) since Jillian thinks we need to ;)
Mon: Nicolas' birthday...I just gave up a 9:20 Ohana for the 7:55 one. All that said, he may smash a lot of my plans because I think he wants to go to HS that day.
7:55am Ohana (MK), 7:55pm Chef Mickeys (Cont) - big afternoon nap planned so perhaps we can do spectro or wishes.
Tues: 5:15pm San Angels (EPCOT)
Wed: 8:00am Crystal Palace (MK) 5:30 Tutto Italia (EPCOT)
Thur: 8:00am Tusker (AK), 5:30 Ohana
Fri: 8:00am Hollywood & Vine (HS)Sat: 7:45 Chef Mickeys - we fly out at 3 pm.

I'm thinking about cutting the ones in the pink out - what do you guys think? We're on CST, so we 8 will feel like 7 to us - and my kids mostly get up about 6:30-7 daily anyway. We get 7 meals in our plan.

Here is the big question, should I just drop all the 8 am ADRs and go with the dinner ones? I know when Nicolas and I went, I was so dog tired each day and I just cursed under my breath about those early ADRs. I know they do help you avoid the crowds, but I'm wondering with Carlos & the kids if seat of our pants would work better so no one is grumpy starting out (uh hum, Carlos) and then in a bad mood the whole day.

I probably wouldn't be too good at commenting on this - we are not usually big breakfast people. We would rather have a small snack, or just an early lunch.

I totally think you should deal with it - call DBSIL, and tell her that Jeff asked for you guys to send flowers for their mom - and perhaps she can handle that - and not to worry, she can put the $25 she owes you in for your family's part. :confused3 :lmao:

I LOVE IT!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Good for you on the income tax! :cheer2:

Lorrie, it's so sad. :sad2: My MIL had to finally tell her son, now 41, not to call her or come over drunk or high. He made her life H*** for too long. Now he sends her snide cards or makes some snide comments on a phone call about once a year - her heart is broken, but she had to let go.

Yes, me too - I sware - she is a piece of work!

I'm glad he is doing well. It will be really hard for him. That employer is a retard! He certainly should have had First Aid classes, and then not to call 911 - how stupid is that.

I'm watching Lost - now I am. Lost. I think maybe I'll go over to the Lost thread and see if I can make sense of it. I'm just afraid of spoilers - I am 3 hrs behind...

Lorrie - I'm not for frivolous law suits, but I think your cousin has a legitimate case. Not just for his medical bills, but punitivie damages in this case. So sad! But glad he's doing well after the surgery. Is it just his feet or did it extend far up his legs?

Mom is doing great. She's in a little pain this morning, but nothing too severe. I still can't believe she did this surgery with just a spinal! She said she could hear them hammering!!! Gross!

You guys are the bomb! I'm leading the photo contest right now! I kinda like that site because it is new - and there are a lot of DISers over there, too.

Will go back and read what I've missed. Just checking in for some pity........

it's 14 DEGREES BELOW ZERO! this morning!

I use taxactonline - I've used it for the past 4 years and love it!

Now, Kara - you gave me a real giggle with this one - the prev posts were about drugs and rehab etc, so can you guess what I thought ...... :rotfl2:

OMG!!!! I just can't take it anymore. I thought I would die in Ohio at Christmas, my blood must have thinned living in SC for 13 years and now a year in FL.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: And couple that with me telling everyone my mom is in rehab now (for her knee replacement!), and I'm just a mess, huh? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Gross!Glad she is doing well, but that hammering thought turned my stomach. I've got a bad knee and they offered replacement. I'm holding out because I watched that surgery on one of the med channels and I very much remember that hammering. :crazy2:

I obviously missed something big about the photo contest - what is that about? :confused3

So I suppose me complaining that it is 9 here gets me no sympathy. :rotfl: My vote is that I trumph you since I won't be in sunny FL in 10 days, :) YAY FOR YOU!

Tessa, you are so right! Sounds just like a drug. That Kara. Always keeping us in stitches. :happytv:

Tammie - that is exactly what has me worried. We aren't big breakfast folks here, so it would totally be for the characters. We are very happy with bagels, cereal, or fruit, so that price tag gets me more than dinner where I know we'd eat. Do you do many char meals with the grandkids?

Cousin Update:: :mic: Well, come to find out stupid employer also used table mustard and then vinegar as first aid :furious:. Seriously, this guy should be shut down and thrown under a jail!

They grafted as much as they could from his upper legs and hips. Kinda like a meat slicer process (sorry for the visual - but that is how the dr explained it) They couldn't get enough to cover everything, so they had to add in donor skin as well.

Basically they had to cover everything up to just below the knee. Last night they put in an epidural because the pain meds weren't helping. I think if that doesn't work, they can try to keep him sedated enough to sleep through a few days. Oddly enough, it is the pain from his hips where they took the grafts that seems to be giving him the worst pain.

My mom was up there with him last night and said it was just so sad. He wouldn't let go of his mom's hand and constantly had tears rolling down his face. :sad1:

My heart breaks for your cousin. I am praying that the spinal block takes the pain away. That employer should begin trouble BIG time. Where on earth would you think that Mustards would help a burn. I am just so mad that he was an idiot. Aghh. Anyway we are sending our best to him

Kara glad to hear your mom is better. I wish I would have met bsil last May. Lorrie itvwill be good.

Taking katie to preschool. I'll be back later

Okay gang, I'm trying my hand at a pre-trip. Well see how many people say I'm nuts by page 3! :) If it makes it that far.

Links in my siggie - if works.

Lorrie - we don't "waste" our DDP credits on breakfast. Jeff is all about getting the most bang for our buck, so he will only use them for dinner. Then we grab snacks for breakfast. But we're not big breakfast eaters either. That said, I've got us booked at Kona in May because I really want to try the tonga toast! He's gonna flip out! But it's not DDP so it won't be so bad in his warped little mind. Now when we want to try new restaurants, and we're paying out of pocket, we do them for lunch and CS for dinner.

And I feel so bad for your cousin. I do hope the spinal works for him. Has the manager at the restaurant checked on him or anything? What restaurant was this anyway? Poor kid! Nobody deserves that!

I'm listening to the audio from that US Air flight that landed in the Hudson... they all sound so calm and keep referring to "bird strike" like it's the most normal thing in the world. Another reason I won't be flying again anytime soon.

The photo contest is on wdwenchanted.com - it looks like a sub site of disboards. Not many people on that site yet, so there's not a lot of info out there, but it's set up exactly like disboards and a lot of disers are on there. Anywho, there's a photo contest and I'm winning right now! Go over there, find photo contest and vote in the poll for "Celebrations" and vote for me! I'll make y'all vote again next week for my photo in Window Decorations, too! :rotfl2:

Don't know what I win but I just want to!

Lorrie- Your poor cousin. I agree with Kara this man should have to PAY in some way or another. I am not big on Lawsuits but this is one time I am going to say it is a must. I will keep him in my prayers.

Now as for Disney we eat at
Crystal Palace for breakfast (to get in early and take the Picture of Empty MK) OOP

We don't normally do breakfast because we would rather get a little sleep and be in the parks for opening. Any breakfast we do is OOP like this year we are doing Kona. We also like using our TS for dinner it gives us time to relax and Luca usually eats the most at this meal and I plan it after we take our afternoon nap so we can shower and then head to dinner and then to the parks. just my 2 cents I really hope you like PF.

Cammie- Did you see that cake with the 2 tiers that looked like a wedding cake? she said that was a mini cake and she went to the BW bakery and ordered it. She said the top tier was about the size of a large cupcake. Or are you having dinner at the GF anywhere? I forget your planned meals. They have a mini castle cake that is adorable and small enough for the 2 of you to share?

It is freezing here this morning and I just cannot stand it we have the fireplace going and I have to clean the bathroom, but the thought of getting down on the tile floor and scrubbing is making me colder. :scared:

Maybe I will wait until later? I cleaned the kitchen scrubbed everything even got the corners with a toothbrush I just couldn't take it. Before Luca the house was spotless and I always cleaned I swear you could have eaten off the floors now this place is a disaster.

I got my t shirts in and I am going to start them tonight. I am so excited.

Well off to clean the living room.

Don't know what I win but I just want to!
:rotfl2:

Kara - it was just one of those southern mom/pop type fast food places. Not a retail chain or anything. And NO they haven't checked on him since the first day. I think they are scared they'll sue, so they are cutting contact. :rolleyes2

Jillian - it is called kids. My house was clean too until then. Now I feel like I need to repaint, pull up carpet, etc. :upsidedow

Yeah, I'm starting to think those breakfasts are a bit steep. Especially since I know we won't eat that much.
