Well, since all of the kids are sleeping, I am going to attempt a small trip report.

We flew in last Sunday and the weather was great. We stayed at POP for the first night and I was pleasantly surprised! The CMs there were very nice and friendly (much nicer than at the Poly, IMO). The rooms were small but nice and clean. The only downside was crowded buses. We ate at Concourse Steakhouse..very good! The filet was probably my favorite meal all week. We went to the MK for EMH. It wasn't too crowded and we had fun, but I was so tired by 9:30. I wanted to go but FIL wanted to stay. We stayed for 45 more minutes and DS had a meltdown. It was a very long day...we probably should have skipped the MK.

We did MGM on Monday...it was 80 degrees and sunny. Had lunch at 50s Prime Time Cafe. I really had fun, mostly b/c the waiter was giving my FIL and BIL a hard time! He said that he could tell they were trouble and that the kids and I were well behaved. DH was labeled a troublemaker, but he laughed along with it, while his dad and brother did not.

Just some background...my BIL and FIL are "difficult", to say the least. They are both very critical and negative. They rarely have anything good to say. The negativity was really bothering me, so I called my sister for moral support. She told me I should get some time away from them every day. That really did help. My FIL said he would go along with anything we planned..he didn't. He questioned everything. He refused to go back to the room so the kids could nap. I tried to stand up to him, but it didn't work so well because he just does what he wants. My DH did stand up to him, too and he is better at dealing with him.

As for the rest of the week, we ate at Chef Mickeys (our first time...we like it!), Spoodles (great as usual), Alfredo's in Italy (DH's pick..my food wasn't hot and I wasn't impressed), Crystal Palace (good food, characters came around very quickly) and The Spirit of Aloha (didn't like the food and I thought the show was a little too long for the kids).

The weather cooled off to the 60's for most of the days and there was rain on Wed and Thurs, but we still got around the parks. The kids were so well behaved. All three loved going on the rides and my older DD is finally tall enough for some of the bigger rides. She went on TT, SM, ToT, and Soaring. She is fearless..I can't believe how calm she was on ToT! Both DDs loved the characters, but DS is afraid of them. He just likes to wave at them from afar!

I really liked BWV. We had a 2bd and it was great! We had some privacy and were able to have a good breakfast in the room every morning. I was even able to make dinner one night so we could avoid going out. I was getting tired of TS meals. It takes so long to eat with 7 people and I felt like it wasted a lot of time. One night, DH, the kids and I hung out on the Boardwalk. We had such a great time watching the performers and playing games.

One bad thing...Brazilian tour groups. I am sorry, but they are so rude! They are loud and obnoxious and very pushy. I am very laid back, but I had a run in with some rude ones at BTMR. They were pushing past us to get to FP. When they got there, it wasn't time for there FP yet and they were giving the CM a hard time and made he call the manager. She was completely overwhelmed b/c there were so many people and they sneaked by her, but she told them not to move. They hopped over the railing and told her they were going to go in the standby line, but then they tried to get in front of me. I NEVER speak up, but I was furious, so I said, "she told you that you weren't allowed in this line." One guy was laughing and told me we could go, he would get in back of us. I told him that wasn't fair to the people in line, and then everyone started to speak up to him. He did cut in line eventually. DH was shocked and impressed that I told him off.

You will never guess who we saw...Flower's Child. We saw him as we were walking through Toontown:eek: I noticed him b/c of his shirt.

I am hoping to post pics sometime this week. I am going to take a nap w/the kids now. Our flight was delayed last night and we got home at 1 am. I need an exhausted smilie!

Hi, wanted to introduce myself. Going to Disney in 3 days and I am so stressed. My twin 4 yr old daughters have had colds. They are on antibiotics. Their entire pre-school is sick with either a cold or the stomach bug. Since it is only pre-school, I have kept them home quarrantined for the past week. The weather forecast looks like rain. I hate to fly. etc.

We have been planning this for a year. I am so excited for my kids to see Disney. I cried watching the Chrismas parade on tv. I cry in the disney store, I cry watching the commercials. I just can't wait to go, but I am just so nervous something is going to ruin it. On Sat my DD threw up and all I could think about was that she would have the stomach bug, give it to her sister and we would either have to cancel or modify our plans.

Is this normal?
Thanks for letting me vent!
Wendy:scared:

Well a good way to look at it is they are sick now so they probably won't while ya'll are there. I know to well about the crying, I cry everytime I see one of those commercials! As far as the flying goes, I HATE TO FLY! We flew last year and it pretty much ruined the week for me, because all I could think about was getting back on the plane, so this year we are going to drive. Of course the thought of being in the car for 13 hours with a 2 year old is pretty frightning as well. This is great place to come vent, I have learned that they are great listners :listen: . Oh, and no matter what you are going to Disney, nothing can ruin that!

Hi Pals!

Welcome cinderellamom123. Come and vent her anytime! I think we all really wig out as our trips get closer. Like Pam Pam(Pbharris) said....we got the flu over here (in Chicago) and it was quick! So even though it would stink you can at least tell yourself it will end and as for colds...the kids are already on antibiotics, right? Oh and with the crying...I am a baby! I cry so badly at the commercials and I cried at Disney on Ice and High School Musical. I just love that place so much! It is an addiction to me! It just makes me so happy. It has been said here and on other threads before but WDW IS my therapy!

TinkLvr(Maureen)...
thanks for the great TRIP REPORT. Will you do pix? We always do the lay over in POP too. I just hate waiting for the buses! (Spoiled) I am glad evrything went so well aside from the in-law stuff. That would annoy the **** out of me. How did they get to go! J/K I remeber how they scammed there way onto your trip!:rotfl2: You're a good wife! You are a bigger person then me but I know what you mean about being upset and not saying anything. I feel like eventually I just snap! I would have TOTALLY yelled at those people in line. Keep your stories coming!

Lisa (DisneyOhana) Hi Lisa, Glad to hear from ya!

Hannasmamma
Cool beans on your trip. We went that time of year back in 2005 and had a great time!

Magicfor2 HOPE ALL IS GOOD.
Ahibird For you too!
How’s it going Sewer…?

Hi Maureen! Welcome back! Glad you had a good trip, in spite of the ILs. I love to hear how many different vacations there are available at the World. There are so many things to do, it seems no two vacations are alike!pixiedust:

Hi Debbie and Pam! I have been catching up tonight. The boards were really quiet over the weekend!

Welcome Cinderella's Mom! Hope everyone gets well quickly and you have a Magic-al trip! I, too, cry at the park commercials. I especially like, "i'm too excited to sleep!" Those two remind me of my niece and nephew who are coming with us in June! I also cried when I saw the Magic for the first time on our cruise! I couldn't believe we were actually there!:lovestruc

Hello everyone else! I will try to keep up this week. I have alot of work to do, so not sure how much I will be reading the boards, although it is an addiction! Have a great Tuesday!:thumbsup2

I agree with you, I think TinkLvr is in line for sainthood! :worship: The "World" is a GREAT place to be, but when you have others not getting into the sprit of it then it can be kind'a of a drag. :( Anyway it's still snowing in northeast Ohio, and I keep shoveling, but the weather service is talking about another 3 to 6 inches again today. Geeez, I had to put the travel channel on TV just to see what the sun looks like!:faint:

I'll be back to catch up in a bit!
Have a great day!

You have to share this with others on DIS, I think it sums up every parents fear before a DW trip! I took dd out of preschool for 3 days before our first DW trip and it wasn't even flu season.

Maureen - I think I mentioned to Jaclyn that at least she wasn't going to Disney in the summer when the groups are there. I didn't know they were there year round. One 4th of July there were several groups there. During Illuminations they were chanting and actually fun getting ready for the fireworks. But in the lines, omg, they were terrible. My sisters, I, and my mom aren't the type to say anything when people cut but we were fuming. Oh, and it's not only groups, there was a foreign guy there that rested his video camera on my grandma's head one year during the fireworks. I am not kidding. She is very short but she doesn't look like a tripod.:sad2: Isn't your DD only 3? I can't believe she went on TOT and SM. Wow! She's brave. Well, it sounds like you had a pretty good vac. though, even w/the ILs.

Wendy - Welcome! You sound like one of us. I understand all your fears. I am jealous that you are going to WDW in a couple days though. We go in 3 1/2 months and our camcorder just broke. Luckily they have come down in price. Now we just have to do research on them. At least this didn't happen the week before vac.

Pam - Another great video of animals. DD loved that also. It was amazing. I like the new picture of your kids.

Thanks, Lisa! That was this years holiday card photo. I chuckled at the thought of someone resting a camera on your grandma's head (sorry, couldn't help it). Good gosh..what is wrong with people these days?!

Debbie..that is too funny! And representative of probably every DISer w/ kids! I "quarantine" ourselves for a week before our trip. We limit our outings to grocery store and school.

Maureen.....I'm sooo proud of you!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: Good for you for standing up to your FIL and those people in line! I bet you feel pretty darn good about doing it too (even if it didn't work w/ FIL). Some people will never change, but at least you know you tried something. I was like that with my FIL...I finally couldn't take it anymore and let him have it! I'm way beyond wanting them to like me..we've been married for 12 years. I love the BWV too. Well, I like them all. The performers are neat. Did you see the Rocky the Racoon trick? The piano guy? Last year they had a DJ who does dances and games with the kids on the lawn. It was so fun. ToT.....my DD and I did that 2 yrs ago. Never again. I always have those "elevator" dreams where I am falling and falling. You guys are fearless!! Glad you had a great time. Thanks for the report. Do share a few pics.

A friendly Hello to: everyone!!!

Pam

Even though it was very rude that the guy rested the camera on my grandma's head, we all got a good laugh. Even my grandma. It was just so weird. I have never seen such strange behavior.
