Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too........

Well, the bad day just got worse......

Now, we are going to have no water for "several days" .... Have got some water in, but of course all the shops are sold out now. Weather has meant no grocery delivery - so need to go shopping for provisions too...

Mum is not having a great holiday!!!

Power is hanging on by a thread - the fire service and army are pumping out the electricity sub station as I type.. so maybe no updates for a while.

Oh well, its a bit different, life would be boring if it was all the same..... ha ha haahahhhhah:crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy:. All the worrying has to go on in private really, the kids don't need to be scared by all this - I just want to sit in the corner and cry sometimes really, but my little darlings keep things on an even keel... Hope and pray for some SUNSHINE.
Mind you, they say the waters will still rise for a while, till the rivers in Wales have disgorged all their water downstream. Luckily we are not amongst the thousands who are also flooded out, we just have the knock on from all the essential services being interrupted.

Mum is not going to forget this holiday one little bit..... especially when the water for flushing the loo runs out - we have an ornamental fish pond so we're OK for 2 or 3 days, at least if it does carry on raining it will fill it up ( how's that for seeing light in the darkness!!!)

Anyhow, got to go sit in the corner and eat worms - that's about all that's left in the larder so to speak.....

bye for now.
Tessa

There are others like me!!! Unbelievable! I am so OCD about planning things!!!! I can't even stand it myself. :surfweb:
We are going in December for christmas and New years and I have been on these boards religiously trying to figure out the trip.
I worry about my DH's crowd anxiety.... :crowded: we are going at christmas...hello????
i worry about my DD7 recently diagnosed Sensory Processing disorder....I'm starting to see a pattern here.:Pinkbounc
My DM is going with us and has diabetes and I am worried about her getting tired and the parks being too full so that if we leave in the middle of the day we wont get back in for dinner ressies.
I worry about the money to finish paying for the trip
I'm worrying about packing already!!!! OMG!!!! I am nuts!!!

Welcome! I have found that this past vac. was a little bit better than the last family trip because I planned better. My worrying actually helped me to plan everything almost perfect. I don't know enough about diabetes but do you mean that your DM will get tired from walking or just sleepy. You could rent a scooter, I don't know the real name for it, for the days that will be a lot of walking. My ex-boss used it in the parks and she said it was the best. I also don't know about Sensory Processing disorder. My nephew is autistic and only went on a few rides. He loved the restaurants, playlands, fountains, and the hotel and pool. We did the rider switch for the rides and it was great. Way better than forcing him on rides. The rider switch was really neat for my older nephew who got to go on his favorite rides twice. As for the crowds, I don't do well with them either. But I do a lot better w/crowds if it is not too hot. At least the temps won't be too high.

Just to quick post to say hi to everyone. We a nice weekend, but Debbie, I feel like you do. I can't get anything done around my house. My kids undo anything that I do accomplish so I get frustrated and demoralized.

Hope all had a fun weekend.

Talk to you all soon.

Maureen

I was just telling my DH that same thing, that everything I do gets undone in half an hour.

Thanks for the warm welcomes!
Im sure it will all be fine, but they are the things I worry about.
Mom is independent but doesn't have any sense of direction so I worry about her going off by herself. We will see, I'm sure she will be fine.
Does anyone know if cel service is good there or not?? Or we could all text around or something.

Hi Gang,
Having more of those fun busy days! Today was swimming lessons and fun in the sun (backyard) and tomorrow is a local amusement park. Wednesday is the water park with Lisa (DisneyOhana)......
No wonder I am pooped...not to mention being pooped from the overtired DD battles! Yikes!

WELCOME!!!!
TidoubleGerrr
WELCOME!!!!
TidoubleGerrr
I hope we can be of help to you. This is a good place to vent! We all really understand. This bunch here is a variety of different kinds of worriers and control freaks! We truely believe that those of us who are more controlling are that way to help with the worrying. It's too hard to handle stuff in other people’s hands.

We used our cells all the time.
Pbharris (Pam ) How’s everything going? Hope all is well and things are lightening up.
TinkLvr (Maureen) Glad to hear from you. I feel more and more overwhelmed each day. I need a plan! Unfortunately, it's going to have to start with getting rid of things and I am just not good at that!
DisneyOhana (Lisa) Looking forward to Wednesday!
Magicfor2 (Tammie) It’s hard to catch up after the big WDW trip isn't it! Glad you still hang with us when you can!
So fun for you to spend time with the fam.. Your poor DIL. That has to be just awful!
Ahibird (keahi) Aloha!
Hang lose! :rotfl2: I know pathetic, right?
Sewer What's up? How's your summer going? TR???? We are waiting:hourglass
tttessa (tessa)I will definitely say some prayers for you guys. It's so hard to imagine what you are going through. It's like your in a whole different part of the world.....OH you are!!!! Seriously, I hope things get better.:grouphug: I'll be thinking of you! I bet your MUM is just thrilled....
Lovin Life ( Pam2)
The ZOO was very fun. Turns out Hannah Montana's brother and best friend were there! DD (even though she's only 4) thought it was great! People were lined up for miles for their autographs but thankfully DD isn't aware of that yet!

DisneyJenn18Hello!

Portia9Hi!

Have great night everyone!:hippie:

Just to quick post to say hi to everyone. We a nice weekend, but Debbie, I feel like you do. I can't get anything done around my house. My kids undo anything that I do accomplish so I get frustrated and demoralized.

I feel like I am constantly picking up after my kiddos! We are all guilty of leaving stuff lying around, but they will leave a trail, and then I have 3 people to pick up after. DH is PRETTY good about taking care of himself. Thank goodness.:goodvibes

Gotta get some sleep.:grouphug:

Tammie - You must be tired!! You've been so busy w/family. How fun! Your poor DIL. That must be awful for her. How special that you made her bedding and curtains. My MIL is good like that. She made all of the window dressings in my house. She must be so thankful for you!!:flower3:

Hope and pray for some SUNSHINE.

Anyhow, got to go sit in the corner and eat worms - that's about all that's left in the larder so to speak.....

Tessa - How AWFUL. I am so sorry. :sad2: I will pray for you and your family. I spoke w/a man on my team at work today, and his family is in Worcestershire, where he said they are also having bad flooding. I had to laugh when he said the cricket pitch there has been flooded twice in 3 weeks - no play at all, where you on the other hand are having much more serious problems. Hang in there. I hope that you are really not eating worms, if so, that they're gummies, and what is a larder? Good luck w/keeping your sense of humor :rotfl2: and your brave face for the kiddos.

As for the crowds, I don't do well with them either. But I do a lot better w/crowds if it is not too hot. At least the temps won't be too high.

Lisa, When did you all go to Disneyland? It was Disneyland that you visited, wasn't it? I can't stand going in the heat, either. :sunny: When did you say that you are thinking about another trip?

Thanks for the warm welcomes!
Im sure it will all be fine, but they are the things I worry about.

Does anyone know if cel service is good there or not?? Or we could all text around or something.

TidoubleGerrr- Of course you are going to have things you are going to worry about. :headache: Just try not to let it worry you so much that you don't enjoy your planning. I think we've all decided that it's almost as good as being there. Our cells worked in the parks, and we have Cingular (now AT&T). I see a lot of people using cell phones there.

Hi Gang,

The ZOO was very fun. Turns out Hannah Montana's brother and best friend were there! DD (even though she's only 4) thought it was great! People were lined up for miles for their autographs but thankfully DD isn't aware of that yet!

Debbie - It sounds like you all are having a blast! :jumping3: Cool about HM at the zoo! With your DD only being 4, you might not GET to watch HM, Suite Life of Zack and Cody, High School Musical, That's So Raven...the list goes on... :happytv: I think they're all cute shows, and think that we enjoy watching them almost as much as the kids do. Have a fun week! I wish that we all could join you and Lisa at the water park! How much fun we would have!!!:hyper2: :hyper2: :hyper2:

'night all!

We should make up our own saying and see how long it takes to spread to "the outside". Mind you our Aussie member should be able to add some HILARIOUS sayings if the Aussie soap operas are anything to go by!!

Anyhow, to keep you up to date with the UK pastime... it's still raining - rained ALL night - around 6cm fell here (we have a straight sided bucket in the garden which I can see from here.... it was empty yesterday...)
Got to go pick up mum from Birmingham airport (that's Birmingham UK!! - not the one in the US that we learn about in Social History classes at school), lets hope there are no floods on the way..

Tessa

I think you must be mistaken-we Australians have no weird sayings ;)

Tessa-my Dad was born and grew up in Birmingham-my uncle and his family still live there :)

Yvette

....

Wish our weather was gorgeous here too Debbie, just cold (13 degrees c in the "height of summer" ), drab and grey..... - but, currently at least, it's dry .

Tessa

We hit 13 degrees last week and that was a really cold WINTER day here LOL.

Ttessa! I am so sorry about the floods! What a nightmare. I didn't realize you really meant a flood - I thought it was just heavy rain. My prayers are with you. Did you find some water?

Debbie: Thanks so much for keeping us all together! It sounds like you are going to be almost as busy as a Disney vacation this week! Wow! Celebs at the zoo! Have Fun!

Portia: Those Aussie men! They are so rugged and cute with the sexy accent. Did anyone see The Man from Snowy River? That is one of our family favs! I wouldn't trade my DH for anything, of course!

Hi Maureen, Pam, Pam2, Jenn, Keahi, Lisa, Sewer Have a great Tuesday!

Tessa - I really feel for you. I have never had problems so big w/rainfall here. I know what you mean about staying calm for the kids. I hope things get better today.

Pam - Victoria just cracks me up. It was fun watching that show.

My family always had kolaches on holidays. Now nobody makes them from scratch so we only have them if someone gets them at Jewel. They're still good though.

Pam2 - I have never been to Disneyland but have gone to Disneyworld since I was 5 w/my family. We have been there about 10 times. The last 8 yrs it is about every four years that we go. With the rewards points and DD's age it worked out great waiting, but now I want to start going more often again if we have the money sooner. I am planning for four years and if it is sooner I will be thrilled.

Tammie - You are a great MIL.

Debbie - See you tomorrow!:cool1:

Hi Maureen, Sewer, Keahi, Portia, Tidoublegerr, Jenn.

I think that is funny you like Aussie men-my dh is going cheap at the moment, are you interested? :rotfl2:

Heck, no..I already have one of those! :lmao:

I've missed all you ladies! I've had appointments after appointments and it seems it will be that way for the rest of the summer. Then we have school coming up and everything with that. I'm also trying to squeeze in some fun things for the girls before they go back to school..having lunch w/ DH, movies, bowling, swimming, etc. And let's not forget my "power naps" in between.

I have about 5 movies, and 20 shows Tivoed that I haven't watched yet either. Now THAT tells you how busy I am. :rotfl: I have managed to get into a few shows (well I watched the episodes from last week):

Greek-LOVE LOVE LOVE that show. Reminds me of the ole college days. Plus Cappy is really funny.

Age of Love Have you seen the 48 yo woman? WoW, she's hot..don't know why she doesn't already have a man.

Scott Baio is 45 & Single: :rotfl2: Ok that show is a joke. Umm..you are still single because you are jerk who never calls back and still calls women "chicks!" What an idiot.

Rock of Love: with Bret Michaels: Why are women skanky like that? He sees that stuff all the time. What would be really interesting is to NOT see Non Pole Dancers, strippers, or rocker girls, but regular soccer type moms. He says he wants to meet a woman who can share his life with his two young girls.....well then steer clear of the women who are flashin' their ****s, hanging from a pole upside down, and stumbling over furniture because they are too drunk. It's said, but it's fun to watch. I can't believe they put these things on television AND that people don't care if they make fools out of themselves. :confused3 I guess I am just as bad because I am watching it. :rolleyes1 :happytv:

Glad to see everyone is doing ok. Tessa.....hang in there. There are sunny days ahead!

Everyone else.......:wave2:

Pam

Hiya all,
Tessa.....hang in there. There are sunny days ahead!

We HOPE SO!!!

Oh, and a larder is our "food cupboard" where you keep all your supplies.

well, we got water bowsers put out on the street yesterday, and they are keeping them fairly full for us (thank goodness for the army!!) , so we can fill up the odd bucket with water now -for boiling and drinking, will soon be flushing the loo with the pond water (poor goldfish!!).

Went to MIL for the day yesterday -could stay there if we absolutely have to (but with 5 of us - we'd have to share the one room to sleep - not much fun!!!!) Seems like south of us is not too badly affected, when we can get through that is - so we can take our laundry down to MIL for now (they still have water - for now at least), but who knows for how long - more rain and flood warnings for tomorrow.... Yesterday was dry - hence we could go out without fear of another night stuck in the car.

Got plenty of bottled water, bread, milk when we went south yesterday- supplies here in town are limited as people panic bought ...:confused3

Kids workshops and clubs are cancelled due to lack of toilet facilities so now we have to entertain the kids for some time to come, so much for me and mum having some "quality time" without the kids.

Still there is one bright spot - DH has been sent home from work - special leave with :cheer2:full pay :cheer2:as they have no toilet facilities either - for the next week or two....

Thanks for all the lovely messages - we're OK really, there's many others flooded out and no power, the elderly and those with babies who are much worse off than us.

Fingers crossed the next lot of rain doesn't happen Then they will get into the (flooded) water treatment works and get them cleaned up sooner.

Water water everywhere yet not a drop to drink.......

Bye for now (gone to mix one of those Margaritas - don't want to waste the water....hic, hic).
Cheers,
Tessa

SHE'S HERE!!! Our little Londynn Eve made her appearance at 8:35 last night! She weighed in at 7lb 8oz and of course she's beautiful! I will post pics later! I didn't get a really good shot yet - there were 5 grandparents and little Myles all trying to get a look at her!

Mom and baby are doing really well!

Yvette - I'll trade you my husband AND kids for your cheap husband! :lmao:

We are packing at the last minute for our trip - we leave tomorrow AM!, and they are all driving me CRAZY! DH hasn't packed a thing yet, and I won't put my stuff in the suitcase and bags until he puts his in, otherwise he will belly ache that I didn't leave him enough room. YIKES! Besides, he will be staying up too late packing, and then won't want to get up in the AM. I am wanting to leave at 7am as we have a +7 hr. drive, and I want to have time to do something when we get there. As for the kiddos, I couldn't get them to pick the DVDs they wanted to bring, then they critiqued the ones that I picked. Megan can't find her Nintendo DS charger, and Taylor can't find her DS! It is somewhere in her room, but she tired out before she could find it. I WILL NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO PACK FOR DISNEYWORLD, I WILL NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO PACK FOR DISNEYWORLD...

Tammie - Congrats Grandma!! :cheer2: That is so awesome! So that makes it three gkids, correct? 2 boys and a girl? Wonderful!

I am going to be an aunt for the first time. My brother and his wife are due in January. I can't wait to get my hands on that baby! :yay: It's about time!!

Tessa - I am praying that you all don't get any more rain and that your situation gets better. I just cannot even imagine. I will be thinking of you and your family, and praying for you over the next couple of days.

Pam - :lmao: :rotfl2: :happytv: I cracked up over your rundown of the TV shows! Thanks for that! I used to love to watch the Osbournes and Nick and Jessica. I have seen episodes of several of the other reality shows, but haven't gotten really into any of them. I think that they are definitely entertaining when I see them. I think I am afriad to get hooked on shows. Grey's is the only one that I like to see every week. I tape that one if I miss it. I didn't think that Season 3 was as good as 1 and 2. I wanted to watch Brothers and Sisters, but don't want to have to watch Season 1 to catch up, and I don't want to have to keep up w/another show! But - we have Shotwtime, and a series w/David Duchovny (love him! Maybe I can trade kids and hubby for him! ) is going to start in August called Californication that really looks good to me. Oh, the dilemna!:confused3

Debbie and Lisa - I hope you guys had fun at the water park. I am so jealous! I wish that all of us could get together to talk. CAN YOU IMAGINE? :chat: :hyper2: :chat:

Hi to Maureen, Sewer, Keahi, DisneyJenn18, and any of my friends here that I have missed. Have a wonderful end of week and weekend. I will miss you and DISboards! :disrocks: I will go thru withdrawl. Hopefully I won't be too tired to catch up Sunday when we get home. Unpacking and laundry can wait!:rolleyes1 DH took Monday off, and I have to go back to work. He can do the laundry!:laundy: :lmao:

:grouphug: to you all!
Pam2

Oy, I have horrible hiccups! Ok, that's irrelevant! :confused3
So, I get home from work today and notice my daughter has little red bumps on her arms, then rememeber that she had some on her cheek last night, they are still there and they are on her arms and she's been scratching them oh, and one on the leg!!! :scared1: AAAHHH! I instantly worry, she is off to camp Sunday!!!!! So, straight to the Walk in Clinic for us! Dr. thinks it is either just a viral rash of some sort or possible chicken pox but hard to tell. She was vaccinated so it apparently doesn't get that bad if they have been vaccinated. So, as long as she doesn't get a big ol breakout she will be ok for camp, but if she does, she can't go!!!
Second year of Girl Scout camp, first whole week at camp!!!! She will be devastated! Please help me wich it's not the Pox!!!!! I could use a break! :rotfl2:
So, I threw her in a nice hot tub and gave her a benadryl like the nice doc said, and off to bed....hopefully tomorrow there won't be more!

TidoubleGerrr Hang in there! I'm sending you pixie dust for NO MORE BREAKOUTS!
Pbharris (Pam ) we have the exact same taste in TV!!! I haven’t been able to watch all the shows that you have because summer is so busy but they are all right up my alley. I have seen Scott Baio’s show. VERY interesting! I LOVE Big Brother…so would you! I wish you could watch the episodes on-line or something that have already aired because you would definitely need to get caught up. Love it!
TinkLvr (Maureen) You better not be working too much! You never told me what you think of my DHs meds. No biggie but I would want you to tell me if you thought it was a bad one. Hope you are having some summer fun when you can. No, my house is no better then yesterday!
DisneyOhana (Lisa) What a fun day, huh!!!!
Magicfor2 (Tammie) CONGRATULATIONSS on the new baby girl!! Gymboree here you come!!!! I am glad all are happy and healthy!!!!!!
tttessa (tessa) You have such a great outlook! I am so proud of you! Hang in there! Glad things are improving and glad you still have Internet access!
Lovin Life ( Pam2) I hope you have a terrific trip! We look forward to hearing about it when you get back. No last minute WDW packers allowed at this thread so you better change your ways girl!!!!
DisneyJenn18 You are working too much ya know!

Pam2 - Thanks for the well wishes on our outing. It was a blast. Wish all of you guys could have been there.

Tammie - Congrats. You must be so... excited. Have fun w/all the girlie stuff. Hope we see some pics soon.

Pam - Thanks. Could you tell how much fun we had from the pics? Debbie's son had such a great time but I don't think you can tell in all the pics. We really were wishing you guys could have been there. We will all have to meet at some point in our life. It's not impossible.

Debbie - What a great day! We both had so much fun. DD told DH all about it when she woke up.

Tessa - Hang in there! You do sound like you have the things that you can control under control.

Tidoublegerr - I hope it's not chickenpox. Every time I bring my DD into the doc it is usually not as bad as I imagine. I am a big worry wart.

Hi Lisa! Why aren't we asleep????? I thought I read they were shutting the boards down tonight again (maybe 11:00):confused3 Yeah..DS isn't really showing his smile is he! He was having the time of his life. He's just not a poser like his ham of a sister! Your DD looks so cute!
