Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too........ Part 2

Renee - you are too funny!

OK, I'm serious about this - they have NEVER paid for a vacation. BIL's grandfather takes the entire family on his side, on a cruise every couple of years. BIL's parents paid for their honeymoon cruise. BIL's parents paid for a Disney trip when he graduated law school. BIL's parents paid for 10 days in Hawaii when their son was a year and a half (sorry, we turned down a company paid week in Spain when DD was 2 1/2 and I couldn't do it!). Then they've been on a couple of BIL's grandfather's cruises, and then this trip. So we told them that we heard if you book your next trip before you check out, you can save like 30% or something. So she calls Disney TODAY (what part of "before you check out" did she not understand?) and just emailed me that the guy didn't know what she was talking about.

It's a good think you don't have a video phone, Kara. Cause I bet she was giving you this look!!!!

I am so used to that look now, doesn't even faze me anymore. :confused3

OK, DVC update! EVERY time we walked by a DVC info booth, DH slowed down and kept glancing in. I kept telling him I made an appointment. He laughed and said I'd better not or we'd end up in big time debt!!!! I just know he'd buy it. So I just need to keep on keepin on, and if he finds that we get a lot of use out of these season passes, I think I can make it happen.

Oh, and he said he wants to only go for a full week every 2 years, with a couple of long weekends thrown in on the off year. I can live with that, and wouldn't DVC just make it all worth it!!!!!

Cammie - what was up with Lost last week? No Sawyer??? :scared1: I read on the Lost thread that you were nodding off.... I can see why!

OK, it's now 4:20 and I'm STILL not showered! Off to Jenny Craig tonight. My scale says I lost 1.8 lbs last week. I wore my pedometer every day (they all teased me about it but at the end of every day they wanted to know how far "they" had walked), and I walked between 13000 and 19000 steps each day. FIL keeps telling everyone how much "we" walked, when in fact he went back to the resort twice to nap, and spent a good deal of time sitting on benches. No problem! Just don't talk about how much "we" walked - I was the one wearing the pedometer. Whew, DH is right, I'm just full of vinegar these days! :rotfl2:

Kara, you're a saint for ever going anywhere with those people! I can't believe she would act like that. I'm glad things were ok with your MIL, so at least you didn't have it coming from two people. Some people are so inconsiderate.

I can just see one of my sisters being the one to be laid back and late, and picking up the gift at the last minute, and packing the car at the last minute - For her and her DH, it is a matter of control, and they are really shocked that anyone doesn't wait two hours for them to get there before anything starts. I honestly don't know how they manage to catch a flight to anywhere! (I'm not talking about the DSIS that I went to WDW with last year! )

I also have an aunt who got mad at our family reunion picnic last year because we ate without them when they were 21/2 hours late! :rolleyes1 Must run in the family. ;)

Cammie good luck.

Cammie - good luck with the squisher! Anything fun afterwards - you need a treat for sure!

Thanks! It was easy-peasy! And, no, I didn't do anything special for myself aftewards; been spending way too much money lately on things for our Disney trip. I showed restraint.

Hope everyone is having a good day. DS has been in his crib for 1hr and still wont nap. I hate leaving him there, but the DR. says if he is not crying leave him there. I am not sure I am agreeing with this. Any suggestions?

I agree with the doc - as long as he's not crying, leave him alone. I actually think it's good that DS can occupy himself for an hour w/out crying out. IMO - he's still young enough that he needs that "down" time; I bet he'll eventually use it to nap, but if not, let him entertain himself. It shows good independence! And -- you need the break too!:thumbsup2

That sounds like my "family" vacation in 2006 with my IL's. DH and I have agreed that we're not ment to go on vacation with other "non-Disney" people.

I didn't realize how crazy it made me to have to wait for someone to be ready first thing in the AM. Hello up and go by 9am! Lounging around until noon is a waste of a day.

I make ADRs and then last minute they don't want to eat there, but they don't mind waiting 2+hours for another restaurant that no one else wants to go to.

CRAZY!!

Tammie - LOVED the scrapbook! Did you also use your own pix? Did you download them to the photopass site? I think I may do that!

Kara - Your SIL - UGH! I don't know how you didn't smack that look right off her face!

Needed to come to a place people would understand. DH never would.

:sad1: I read the reviews on the grand Westin that I am staying in for Houston. Everyone said it was old, dated, smelly, etc. I had such high hopes. I have only stayed at one "Ahhh" hotel and I thought this would be another one. NOPE. Better to find out now, I guess. :sad1:

What website did you read those reviews on? Remember - EVERYONE has a different opinion - doesn't make it your opinion too. I'm constantly amazed when I read reviews of Disney restaurants; people absolutely TRASH restaurants that we've LOVED! Don't take anyone's word for it; I can't believe a Westin is that bad. I'm sure it's fine.

Renee - I totally agree with Cammie - just look at what people say about POP and we love it! Sorry, Jillian! :confused3 I'm sure it will be a beautiful hotel, even if it is a little bit older.

OK, ladies, I know you're probably all sick of hearing me trash my SIL, but it does help to vent on here. And I swear that she really is as bad, if not worse, than I make her out to be. But I just want to offer a bit of advice to all of the moms out here, me included. I know how much we love to mother our babies and do so much for them. But please PLEASE teach them independence! I just went upstairs into DD's bedroom and bathroom for the first time since the clan left on Sunday. In the guest bath, the towels were neatly folded when MIL left on Sunday, and they had made their bed. DH stripped all the beds that night and brought everything downstairs, but he forgot the towels. In DD's bedroom, the trundle bed was still up with the sheets still on and unmade, and the extra towels that SIL and her family used were all over the bathroom floor! How incredibly rude is that! Whenever I visit someone else's home (even my parents'), I always pull the sheets off the bed, and either start the washer or at least put them in the laundry room, and I'd NEVER leave wet towels laying on the floor - heck, I don't even do that in hotel rooms!

Sorry, I had to hop on that soap box for a minute. I know she did it cause she was p***ed off that vacation was over and she just flat out didn't care if she made extra work for us. Man, I get so steamed over that kind of crap!

But on the happy side, I LOST a 1/2 lb last week, eating on the dining plan!!!!!

OK, gotta run for the night. The painter is coming tomorrow and I'd like to get my house in order so he can trash it and I can complain all over again! :rotfl2:

OMG - I just checked on my dining reviews thread and one of our servers posted a comment! Luckily she was one of the awesome ones from WCC and I rated her service an "A." But to think that "they" are reading too was a bit unnerving - what if the evil Cathy from Coral Reef sees how I trashed her? :scared1:

Hi Girls!
Kara...VENT AWAY!
sAng_scream.gif
If you can't do it here where can you do it!!!! I swear I want to smack that girl. That pic is priceless!
sFi_slapface.gif
So let me keep this straight...the SIL is your DHs sister, right? I will chuck it up to girls are brats with their P's until the day they die!
Another thing is that ungratefulness....makes me ill! My DB can be like that a lot. He just feels like everything my P's do for him is entitled to him. Drives me insane. I could go on and on...
Magicfor2 (Tammie) One of my biggest pet peeve is lateness!
DizzyErin(Erin) I hope you are having fun!!!

it yet? There are probably more good reviews out there. I would definitely leave DS in the crib. I do all the time. I have to because my kids don't nap. My DD is already done with it except for a random occasion.

Thanks! And to everyone else who commented, too! Yes, I downloaded my photos to the photopass site. It seems like I couldn't crop them there like I could the Disney ones, but it worked out fine. You just drag and drop your pics in and they magically fit. Of course you have to choose the ones that fit in the right frames!

Some people are just plain rude! I always leave our hosts house the same as you. I usually strip the bed and put the duvet back on, because then the room looks nice, and they probably won't fix the bed until they have guests again, if its a guest room.

Congrats on losing the weight!

Don't give that painter a hard time, Miss Vinegar - he may paint your house Purple!!!!

I'm glad they are reading. Maybe they will understand that tips are to be EARNED and that they need to be more DISNEY-LIKE!

I saw that last night! I was thinking - "BUSTED!" But, honestly, you did nothing wrong. If you got bad service, then too bad if they read about it here! It is interesting to see that CMs are on these boards!

Hola! I am now going to tear into my pictures.

Renee thanks for the offer of the chance to win the movie. I am going to pass as we already have it. You are really great to offer it up though. Don't worry about the hotel. Everyone has a different experience. Who knows they may have renovated since that was posted.

Kara I can't believe I missed the opportunity to meet these people! Hope the painter works out for you.

While we were in MK we talked about having the whole family do a vacation there. We made the decision that it would never happen with DH family. If we can't get along at the cabin who knows what would happen in WDW. Now my family may work as long as we all stay in different resorts. We sat next to a couple on the bus who did this and they said that it was a blessing. Taking seperate transportation home at the end of the day really relieved a ton of stress and anexity. Something I would have never thought of. Plus if you are doing ADRs you can just meet that the desginated place in the AM.

Cammi glad to hear it went well. I am not due for one of those for a few years. Even then I am pushing the docs to do it early. I can't believe 35 is considered early. Breast cancer runs on my dad's side. Nothing on my mom's side.

Hi Debbie! Love gymboree. I just got a ton of handme downs from DSIL. She loves that store.

Morning everyone. Trying to skim and catch up. :surfweb:

Jillian - with regards to the napping. DS NEVER napped. I left him in his crib twice. He cried until he threw up. :confused3 I felt horrible, and gave up on it. He is 4 now, and occassionally he will drift off. More often than not, he just kinda chills out for a bit in the after noons, but never naps. Ped said that it was unusal, but when he looked at the fact that he went to bed often at 7 and didn't get up until 6 and slept the whole time, that he was getting as much daily sleep as a napper that didn't sleep well at night. He recommended looking at the big sleep picture.

With DD, we let her cry finally at about 6 months. She cried for 10 minutes and that was it the first night. Now, you lay her down awake and she gets herself to sleep. She must nap twice a day, generally for 2 hrs in the am and 2 hrs in the pm. I didn't do anything different between the two kids, but I have two very extreme results. I just say to the extent that you are comfortable, try it, but keep the big sleep picture in mind.

Cammie, Kara, Debbie & Laura - thanks for the thoughts on the hotel. I checked trip advisor, travelocity, and someone else. The majority were all saying the same things. So you know, :rolleyes1 I'm not feeding a kid for several days, and it is what it is. Right now, I have a very bad impression, which can only get better when I get there. I kind had the same with ASmo and loved it, so I'm not just totally bummed, but I had hoped for a nice spa like hotel, and I really think it isn't going to be that at all. So sad...

Okay, so here is the latest in the Movie challenge. I hate to drag things out, so I will give it until 7 pm today CST and then close it out...
Laura - out
Cammie - out
Tammie - out
Kara - 247
Jillian -549
Debbie - 437

Still waiting for Tessa, Erin, Pam - is that everyone?

Since Tessa may be out of pocket - anyone want to pick a number for POOR ERIN who is in DLP? :lmao:

Laura - love your new avatar! Once I get my photopass cd back I'm going to attempt to change to one from BBB - that was awesome! Did your DD love it as much as mine did? It was so neat to meet you even if it was for only 5 minutes! Did your DH think we were as corny as mine? He says I'm an internet geek!

Well, we ended up with over 750 pics on photopass, plus we snapped over 450 on our camera. Throw in about 10 from MIL's camera and "both" pics that SIL shot and we have over 1200 photos!!!!! :scared1:

We're doing the photobook from photopass. It's funny, I checked it again this morning and SIL "rearranged" it so all her family's pics are ahead of ours. :sad2: She's a piece of work... and yes, she is DH's sister, and he has the same opinion that I do! He is so into family whether it is mine or his, and she's just so self centered. I can't believe they are related!
