Not completely unexpected. Had a discussion last year with an oral surgeon - meds that DD has been on in her life have caused her gums to become overgrown. Baby teeth are stuck and new ones can't come in. Doc says he needs to go in and cut gum and remove teeth - all to prevent infection and further pain. I've known this was coming but I've been trying to put it off. I know it makes sense to go in now before a bigger problem develops -- it's just that the dr. has said it is very painful so I just feel so bad. Best case scenerio - we'll be in the hospital for about a week. Been down this road before though; you go in for one thing and two other problems occur. DD's a really strong kid and always bounces back better than they all expect - keeping my fingers crossed that will be the case this time around. She's been through so much!:sad1:
OUCH. Well, not the same I'm sure but around DD's age, I had my wisdom teeth embedded in the bone. THey had to surgically remove them by cutting through the gum to get to them. I had like 45 stiches on each side - pretty detailed. I do remember it hurt, but I remember it being more a sucky thing on the food issue more than anything. My DSF also had gum recession, so they grafted in cadiver tissue - that was interesting. He too commented it hurt, but not as bad as expected. I say this to encourage you that maybe it won't be as bad for her as you think. Humm.... what about thinking of something special for her for that first day after. You are good at that, like the perfume idea. Just something comforting for her. It won't be fun, but I'm sure something comforting from her loving mom might make it even better? :flower3: We will just keep positive thoughts and prayers that there is no secondary issues, and this just goes as my DS says "easy peasy".

Hi! Good advice, but here's a little caution for all of you from a former Peds employee: BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE TYLENOL. Try to use mostly Motrin. Tylenol can be very toxic to the liver. Some docs here tell you not to give it at all to babies. There is a college age gal here who ended up in a coma and then in a wheelchair from Tylenol toxicity from just a few doses that were a little more often than recommended.

!
Good point. I had questioned our ped about tylenol a lot. He said it was very safe IF taken as prescribed. i always go a little less of a does than recommended and use it at the 6 hour mark - and generally just once or twice a day to help when they are teething. I had done the opposite and tried it more than motrin since motrin is so rough on the stomach. It is like DD ped told me. Unfortunately, there is no action medicinially you can take that isn't going to have some reaction. Good to hear about the tylenol though. Never had heard that!

I still haven't packed. I guess my morning will start earlier than I thought. DH and DS are downstairs having Nerf Gun wars :sad2: Gotta love nice neighbors who get lovely things like that for your kids.

Hey guys, I think I mentioned I would be around tonight, but the truth is I think I have a little more going on than I anticipated. I will check back in Sun or Mon.

I did want to wish all my fantastic Dis friend Moms -
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY:flower3:

Hiya all,

well i did it - I finished the trip report - so I now have time to catch up a bit.... yippeeee....

Cammie - hope all goes well for your little darling..... My friend's son had a cleft and has just had the same sort of surgery AFTER all the fuss over the cleft surgery too, so I have some idea what you must be going through - he bounced back great (as kids do...) , my friend still looks weary.... so try not to worry too much...

The Haunted Mansion pic brings it all back!!!! It does look small, but this one is on a hill - so there's plenty of room in there for a ride - it is different to the WDW one but the "effects" are still the same...

Debbie - love those pics and the link, I haven't done any T- shirts , I did see quite a few there at the pirates and princess party though - I'm working on scrapbooking the trip at the minute... it really is great fun choosing the page themes and collecting together all the little "bits" for each..

Oh, now I see why you said, "if you're not on the Control freak & WW thread..." ha! love it, and my comments are on your TR! :goodvibes

So it's another crazy day in the LALA house. DH is doing the food drive for the post office - he only does it so he can take 1/2 a day. Thankfully he's taking DD5 with him today so she'll be super wired up after all this. It's a good cause and we do collect a ton of food for the homeless!

DD8 is going to a Girl Scout scavenger hunt with her friend who wants her to join. Not that we don't already have a ton of things to do every day of the week - what's one more?:headache: So I'm dropping her off for that at 1pm.

Then I have to run over to Joanne's to get some fleece for DD5 who wants a poncho with beads on the bottom like one of DD8's friends had on last night. Then I have to get wrapping paper to wrap the grandmas' gifts. Then I have to start the laundry, vaccum the house and hopefully start working on DD8's HM (like) curtains.

DH's DJing a wedding tonight so we'll be home all night when the rain starts up again.

CAMMIE - I'm so sorry about your semi-fire!! At least your family got out safe and nothing got destroyed. We had a fire when I was 7 and my mother has never gotten over it. The fear of a fire freaks her out - we lost almost everything and we were so poor we had nothing to start with. Thankfully my babysitter's church washed all of our clothes and donated so much to us, they were wonderful. Your neighbors will get over it. If it had been a serious fire they would have been thankful for your bunnie nose!:cheer2:

WISDOM TEETH - I had all four impacted and had to have them removed. My Dad had just gotten a brand new Steath car that same week. He came to pick me up and told me to touch is arm if I felt like throwing up on the way home. We're 1/2 way home and I reach over to tell him I wanted a drink -- wheels screech, he opens the door and shoves my head out the door to the street. He didn't want me to get sick in his new car. I still give him crap about that.:woohoo: More worried about his new car then his sick DD?:cutie:

Cammie! What did I miss?

YIKES! Nothing!:confused3 It's all good!:thumbsup2

Tina - Think you've got me confused with someone else. I deal with alot here but thankfully - no fires! (Kind words though - hope they can be re-directed to the right person!)

Hi all just a quick fly by ... I think i have had one of the worst Saturdays EVER

We are driving to France on Monday morning (via the ferry) there are 7 of us going ... Me and my DD ... My BF her hubbie and 2DD's and DS .... Friends hubbie went to work early this morning and car died on him .. Called out Rac to help and they have no idea what is wrong, called my dad who has changed all sorts on the car throughout the day to find out what it is ... she has been in floods of tears all day thinking we will have to cancel holiday etc as there is no garage that will fix it before tuesday ... When my amazing parents step in and say if it can be fixed they will pay, as BF also has no money to fix car, if not they can take my Dad's car!!! So that is where we are at right now ... So not the best of days

All prayer's and pixie dust and fingers crossed is appreciated that nothing else will go wrong between now and then as she now has the total feeling of impending doom!!!!

Hiya Erin

-finger's crossed for you - I'm sure it will all go well. You certainly do have amazing parents!! what a lovely offer.

Oh! The worst possible time for something like that to happen! Sending PD your way! It sounds like your holiday will go off, either way - just not a good thing to have to deal with now. :sad2:

happy mother's day. One more day left in FL. Headed to the beach again. Loved the water yesterday. It felt like bath water it was so warm. The friends we are visiting had a cold and now they have shared it with us. So I am coming home with a nasty runny nose and stuffed up ears.

It has been really fun. I'm glad I set the trip up like this. I would have a really tough time leaving WDW for the airport. This way I can slowly let go of WDW. Still will cry on the flight home. gotta run!

Have a great day at the beach, Laura! Don't think about the last day....just enjoy today.

Kara? :confused3 Kara? :confused3 Are you home yet?
