Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

Hi Cammie! Thanks, and Myles and Londynn live with us, so I see them a little more than I want to! :lmao: But Mason just moved back to town. I seriously thought Dana my DIL was trying to keep him away from me - my DS Ryan and she have gotten very close to Jim's parents and don't want to spend time here at all, it seems. Well, I had a 3 hr talk with her yesterday, and she just thought that we didn't care about Mason, and that the other two were the only ones that mattered - she was afraid he would get his feelings hurt. :( I told her that it was because they haven't let us see him, so he doesn't know us, is a little afraid of us, so we weren't pushing ourselves on him, and that we were so hurt it was easier just to not try too hard. Her problem here is with Lindsay. They'll have to work that out, I told her, because we all need to be a family.

I left with us hugging and agreeing that we want to work on being closer. I know my MIL has some influence in this - I have heard that she gossips about me with her daughter, Jim's step sister and then shares it with outside parties - I won't be able to deal with that, though, because Jim's dad is impossible and I want to protect that relationship for Jim.

Whew! Now you know our disfunctional family stuff! Thanks for listening! I think things will get better with time. It will be better when we get our house back and the kids have normal healthy lives.

Weather report - we are still in the 60s with a cold breeze! We've had frost for the last few early mornings. We are supposed to have a graduation party next Saturday evening outside! :scared1: I can't fit 40 people in my house, so I hope it warms up by then. It's usually the hottest day of the year just because the kids are sitting outside with black robes on.

I'd better get busy cleaning and order the cake! Talk to you ladies later!

Tammie - I couldn't remember which grandkids lived with you but knew there was one family you didn't see as much as you would like. Good for you for talking it out with your DIL!:thumbsup2 It's better to get these things out in the open. Unfortunately, in my family, hurt feelings leads to avoidance, which then leads to no communication. I can't keep track anymore of who's not talking to who! I'm guilty of using this tactic myself - think I've mentioned that I went four years without talking to my parents. Now, I know we were both wrong for letting this happen; but now that I'm a mother I COULD NOT imagine not talking to my child for four years - regardless of what was done. Anyway, I'm determined to set a better example with my girls.

I hope things change for the better for you guys! Have a great day!

MAGICFOR2 - I'll send some warmth your way. Here in MA we're getting temps into the 90s today. I'm happy, (don't get me wrong it'll snow any second!!) But I don't have the pool up yet and of course there's no gas in the tank for the grill.

I just did a marathon mowing of the lawn - 2 hours later and I'm exhausted. I'm running over to my mil's house to get her little pool to cool the girls down. That will make them happy until tomorrow when DH and I put the big pool up. We've got one of those inflatable ring pools that's 12 X 20. We can't do inground or above ground because of where our leaching field is, but this does the job.

Good day Ladies!

Lazy day here today. Yesterday we grabbed fast food for dinner and then went to the pool from 6-8pm. Ally got the okay from the ENT to swim all summer long - yippee!!! But she has surgery scheduled for Sept 26th to remove the tube. I'll worry about that as we get closer.

Jeff and I let Ally swim with her friends last night and we met some folks at the Cabana bar and hung out with them for awhile before heading home. It's such a wonderful setting right on the pond and so relaxing. Then today I got up at 7am with the dog and then crashed on the couch until 10:30!!! Up and moving and off to the pool after lunch. The water is already so warm, so Jeff and I were on the water slide with Ally and we were all jumping off the diving boards with her, too. It was a fun day and not very crowded up there at all!

Probably an early night to bed tonight and then back up to the pool tomorrow. I really think a lot of you are hotter than we are right now! Crazy weather!

I'm sipping my X-Rated Fusion/V8 Fusion drink - so yummy I think I need to publish it! 1 shot X-Rated Fusion, 1 shot coconut rum, 1 shot peach schnapps, then fill with the V8 Fusion Light peach mango (?) juice. Very refreshing!!!!

Just got back from a golf cart ride - pretty entertaining actually. Ally wanted to ride on the course, so we hopped on up near the clubhouse and it was really dark out. So we stuck to the cart paths. Well, I was driving, and as soon as we got on the cart path, I noticed tons of frogs all over the path! I was trying everything in my power NOT to squish them! It was like a game of reverse frogger! Not sure how many I took out, but it was hilarious. We were all "ewwwwing" and laughing at the thought of the squishing! Then we go through an area that has a lot of really high grassy plants on both sides of the path - and we see something running across the path. I think it was a raccoon, but not sure. Then as we're driving all of 15 mph we hear it running alongside us through the high grassy stuff! Jeff is huddled up next to me, yelling, "Go faster, it's chasing us!" :rotfl2: Well, I'm happy to say that we were not attacked by a raccoon so all is well! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Kara's Wild Ride :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Your pool day sounds great! I want your life!

I have had a lazy day, too. I was supposed to be cleaning because we have a big party here next week. I worked on making Londynn's baseball shirt for DL look like a girl - we gathered the sleeves and sewed on a ribbon and bow and made a matching headband. Lindsay and I ironed on a few more shirt transfers . We keep coming up with one more shirt....
I did the dishes and folded some laundry. I think tonight I'll work on my training meeting for Mon night, so tomorrow I'll need to clean. I won't have any motivation after church.

Good morning Ladies!!! I got all my reservation info in the mail on Friday for our two upcoming trips. I had to hide it from Jeff though cause he, uh, er, well, he doesn't know that I actually made a reservation already for my trip with Ally in November! But I needed to make it so I could get us a nice ADR for just the two of us. So it's done. I may actually change resorts, based on what kind of FL resident deals they come up with. Right now we're at CSR - I think Ally will really like it. And I've structured it so we can have a nice relaxed weekend, I think. We'll arrive Friday night around 6:00. So after we get checked in we can either go to a park or to the pool - her choice. Then up early Saturday to hit DHS first thing for TOT (I know it's Super Soap Weekend so we may have to scratch this!), then on to AK for EE and anything else she wants to do there. I really want to see the Nemo musical so we might catch that. Then after lunch we'll head to MK or Epcot and then over to 1900 PF for dinner at 5pm. Then probably to Epcot or back to the resort for the evening.

Well, Mayo head just got up :rotfl2: so I need to get her washed out. Later!

Good morning!

Kara - Funny to hear your story about the frogs. The girls and I came home last night and found ONE in front of the garage - we were freaking out! Over just ONE! I think we would have passed out if we had encountered as many as you did the other night.

Your plans for Nov. sound fine. Popular opinion about SuperSoap at DHS - the crowds are all at the Super Soap festivities, so the rides are easy to get on! And don't forget - Toy Story Mania is open now too!

Ok, so I have a slight dilemna in the making. Went to dinner last night at Lauren's friend's house. This is the girl that moved to town two years ago; she's been in Lauren's class the past two years and they've become very good friends. I also get along with the mom - we've been to each other's houses for dinner and we've also all gone out for dinner together. She just recently got divorced so it's nice to know another single mom; but she and I have yet to really socialize apart from the kids. Anyhoo.......she was talking about taking a trip to WDW in the fall; asked when I was going to be there in Nov. and she was going to try to go around the same time. I wouldn't mind this because, having Amanada with me, I figured it would be good for Lauren to have a friend to ride the rides with.

Well, she tells me last night that she's trying to arrange to go in June instead - the same time Lauren and I are there! :headache: Noooooooo! I'm going to sound like a big baby right now but I want my alone time with Lauren - I don't want to share!:( I'm trying to convince myself that this won't work out for her - the trip is just two weeks away, she has no flights or hotel booked yet; but who knows? Obviously, she's not a planner; which probably means she has no appreciation for the importance of planning. But my days are set; my ADRs are set - I'm not switching anything! I guess if the mom gets this all to work out, she's just going to be in for a big surprise when she gets there and hears that I have a set itinerary. I know I won't let them change are plans but I'm still dreading the idea of having another family tagging along with us!

Of course, nothing is set yet, but being the worry wart that I am, I will now obsess and worry over this for the next two weeks when I should actually be excited and looking forward to the trip.:worried:

Cammie, calm down! Step away from the itinerary and remember this - they probably wouldn't stay at the same resort anyway, right? And it's funny how cell phones have a way of "not working" (when they're turned off!) at WDW! So even if they are there at the same time, maybe arrange to meet up ONE afternoon, and then you have to leave for dinner so you would definitely have an out! And also tell her that June is sooooo hot and you're actually getting worried, it's gonna be so crowded, and hot and miserable, yada yada yada! Play it down BIG time! But even if they are there, remember the cell phone rule! ;)

We're looking everywhere for patio furniture now and can't find what we want. I know from past experience that if we don't find it by July we will have to wait until next year. We want the deep seating, outdoor wicker but it is soooo expensive! So we found a neat set at Home Depot that is actually made by Thomasville, so it seems good quality, but not that expensive. AND HD is offering 12 months no payments (love that!) but they are already out of stock on some of the pieces! I'm starting to stress over this big time cause they're supposed to start on the pavers and screen next week! So I want the new furniture ready and waiting in the garage.

They mayonnaise worked I think! I just combed and combed and combed after I washed it out and I pulled out a lot of dead critters. Definitely dead, as opposed to the "dying" ones I would get with the chemical treatment. Jeff got up this morning and started calling Ally "MayoNNAISE" a la Lou Gosset in "Officer and a Gentleman." Anyone remember? :rotfl2:

Tammie - good for you for having a chat with your DIL - I think sometimes we stew and fret too much instead of getting it out in the open. I'm terrible about that so I applaud your efforts and hopefully you'll see some nice changes!

Pam - how is everyone feeling? Getting better I hope!

Jillian - there is just something about the graduation music - "Pomp and Circumstance" kills me every time I hear it! I can't imagine Ally graduating - I cried like a baby when she graduated from pre-K and she had her little purple cap and gown and they played the music, all just like a "real" graduation.

OK, off to get some cleaning done before we head out today.

Have a good day, Kara! I sooo wish I could be at a pool today. Instead we're going up to my girlfriend's house to see her new baby - at least we'll be in AC for the afternoon!

Yes, I remember Officer & a Gentleman! MAYOnnaise!:rotfl2:

Good luck with the patio furniture. Around here, the good deals are in April - but who's thinking of patio furniture then? Prices really go up once May rolls around; or when you do see a set you like, it's on back order for like forever!

Thanks for your tips regarding our trip. The friend did ask me where I was staying; so I'm afraid she may look to book at WL also. I know the odds are her getting the same place as me are slim, but I always go to the worse-case scenerio! It seems that she is seriously planning this trip to be with us! It's amazing how some people just ASSUME it's ok to invite themselves along on YOUR vacation. I know I'll wind up doing what I need to do to still have the vacation I want with Lauren - I just don't want any added aggravation.

 Cammie - I totally understand your worrying. I am surprised she wants to go w/you while you are doing your special trip w/Lauren. Try not to worry too much. Maybe she will want a lot of Mother/Daughter time for herself, too. Maybe she just likes the idea that someone that she knows is around, being newly single she may not be used to going far w/out another adult.

Tammie - Glad to hear you talked to your DIL. Sorry your weather isn't great. We are close to 90 degrees w/thunderstorms on and off.

Pam - My mom is moving around a lot more now. She went to get a CT scan last week to make sure the cancer didn't come back and they didn't call her back yet. I am hoping that that means she is okay. They seem to take forever to call you back when you're fine. How is your DD?

Kara - Wish I was you being able to swim all the time. I love water. But I am one of the biggest scaredy cats of all time. I am afraid mostly of spiders, scorpions, alligators, cockroaches, bears, cougers, wolves, and sharks. Around her it is mostly spiders and skunks that scare me. We have a lot of skunks around my house. And we get the big wolf spiders sometimes.
Hope everything is going good w/your DD.

Talk to you guys later.

ahh a pool that would sound good about now. We had summer for about 1 day.

Just saying hi. Hope everyone is well

Good morning girls!

We're on our third day of horribly hot and humid weather. Really unbearable - can't even tolerate being outside. (and this is why I don't take Amanda to WDW during the summer months!) On top of that, there is pollen everywhere! My deck has a yellow tint to it - DISGUSTING! At least Amanda's school is air-conditioned; Lauren's is not - which means I'll be dealing with a hot and cranky preteen this afternoon!

I'm going to run to WalMart this a.m. and check out their t-shirts to make my Disney shirts. After dealing with this warm weather, I'm completely convinced that I need to make tank tops. Then I will be spending the rest of my day indoors!:beach:

Good morning all!

Cammie - if you need help with t-shirts I should be here all day (except during my lunch when I'll be, um, somewhere else that y'all don't allow me to talk about! :rotfl2: ). I need to run Ally up to Summer Camp today at the Kids Club and need to get her there for swim lessons early this morning. She doesn't really need swim lessons, she's a little fish already, but we want her to be a BETTER swimmer. And she really wants to be on swim team next year which means she has to be able to swim one full lap without stopping. Yesterday she must have jumped off the high dive at least 20 times!!! She has no fear! Jeff and I both did it once and WOW! It seems so much higher than it did when I was a kid! Then after about 20 times off the high dive, and 50 times off the low dive (where somehow she has learned to actually DIVE, and pretty good too!), she heads into the other pool that is more shallow and Jeff and i look over and she's "holding court." She's got like 5 kids all around her and she's just talking away. She is so outgoing and meets people, especially kids, so well. She knows way more people in our neighborhood that we do!

My boss is back today after a week's vacation so I'm sure I'll be busy! Talk to y'all later today!

Hiya all,

getting hot here today too!!!! Had to keep telling the kids out on the field to spend SOME time in the shade.... The sun is making me grumpy - too hot, no clouds at all... not like the UK !!

<rant mode on> I was SHOCKED to see how many under 8s had sunburn from this weekend - our hottest day of the year so far was Sunday.... some were so bad that they had to wear a cover up and stay indoors today. Aren't folks aware of the risks nowadays??? <rant mode off>

My 2 girls are BOTH going through the 3 way friendship angst at the minute..... both each have a best friend who's also best friends with them and with someone else who mine would not necessarily choose to spend time with..... ho hum...... life is sent to try us..... Past 2 weeks both have been very passionately jealous of their respective "other" friend -but today with the sun shining I saw both groups having fun together..... finger's crossed we are in for easier evenings.

We talk at the dinner table and it has been so tearful lately - will be good to have some happy times. Anyone else have kids who will just fixate on the one tiny thing that went wrong in their day??? Last week, DD7 came home cried that her best friend ran off with the "other" at lunch time (about 7 or 8 min out of her day) for about 20 min she went on and on and on, then, and only then she told me her literacy work had been read out at assembly - in front of the WHOLE SCHOOL as a shining example!!!! Shows the relative importance to her I guess....

Sorry, just needed to vent.... probably because I don't have a pool to cool down in..... eh Kara?? :goodvibes

Cheers girls,

Tessa

what is with the editor starring out the short form of because??? Does c(o)s mean something rude over there (without the brackets in)?????

OH, Tessa I totally agree with you on the sunburn issue! One time Ally was at my in-laws house for a weekend and she came home burnt! I was livid! When I questioned my MIL she said, "well I put sunscreen on her." OK, then if the sun is too strong for sunscreen, GET HER OUT OF THE SUN!!! It's not rocket science!!! I don't even like Ally to get a tan in the summer. Someone once said that it's like slow cooking a chicken - they are STILL getting sun! But I also read once that DSS (social services) has been known to step in and investigate if a child gets severely sunburned. Can't say I blame them!

How is your back feeling??? Luckily, I've never had any back problems other than the occasional stiffness from working in the yard or something. Golfing usually sets me off a bit since I don't play that often anymore. Hope you're getting better!

I know what you mean about the little girls and issues with friends. I know I'll hear all sorts of stories from summer camp. Ally is there with two other friends, anytime you add that third child, it throws everything off! But they have a great enrollment this summer - I think they said 30 kids! I wish you guys could see the way our community is set up - right at the front by the golf club, they have the 3 pools, a little "cottage" that is the Kids Club, and ice cream bar in the pool clubhouse. It seriously reminded us of a Disney resort when we first looked out here, and then there was no turning back! We couldn't even look in any other subdivisions after we found this. It is so family friendly! Some nights we stop in for ice cream and just sit outside by the pond and relax. Even Ally will eat her ice cream and just sit quietly, soaking it all in.

Cammie- The weather here is OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!! It is so freakin hot outside and HUMID your wet the minute you walk out the door!! Funny you are going to walmart today I am heading there myself as soon as Badookie wakes up from his nap. Kari made great DISigns for Tabitha and Badookie.

Renee- I hope you had a great trip check in when you get a minute.

Kara- Hope your day is not that busy.

Well ordering take out for Lunch since DH is working a 24 hour shift today. I refuse to turn on the oven with this weather and I don't know how to use the grill. I think I deserve a nice salad since I scrubbed the floors on my hands and knees this morning.

Needless to say I will be around all day too!!!!

IT'S FREAKIN' HOT OUT!!!!!!
