Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

But on a positive note, they say that if your child speaks disrespectfully to you, it means that they feel comfortable enough in your company to try out different "personalities" - maybe that's just to stop us hitting the wall...:confused3.

Tessa

Haha. I'm sure you all have moved on from the "mouthy" kid conversation but this made me laugh and I had to comment because I heard the exact same thing! I was also told that it's best that kids get mouthy with their parents; they're more likely to be polite with others. Because, as my pediactrician explained, they're at an age where they're experimenting with what they can get away with and they need to express the "freshness" with someone. Better at us than anybody else, I guess.

Hey gals!!! Nothing exciting here - but Ally had her swim team banquet last night up at the pool. It rained. But we were under the covered patio so it was fine. She ended up with all those ribbons for winning her heats, and then got 5 first place ribbons for overall performance in meets, plus 3 second place, and she took 4th and 5th place ribbons from Championships!!! :cool1:

I've always used IE, didn't even realize I had a choice! So what do I do to change? I'm having some spyware issues lately.

Tina - I ONLY wear my crocs to the parks, or the zoo, or any where that I'm doing a lot of walking. My legs feel so much better when I wake up the next day.

Cammie - I hate that Lauren can't brag about that! She was so over the moon and to think she has to keep quiet - kids are soooo mean!

Tina - I hope your daughter had a good week in school - hopefully she'll make a true friend this year and not worry about all the rest.

Speaking of cold temps, I'm in jeans today because it's only int he 80's and I'm freezing!!! I know I know! But when you get used to 90's.......

Kara - now you know I'm a computer-idiot and I was able to download Firefox - easy-peasy.

I just googled it; and clicked on the free download. It also transferred all of my "favorites" and bookmarks from IE. I never knew I had a choice either but I've been on Firefox all day and I think it's faster.

And for Ally.............................................

Hi Girls...
I feel like I haven't posted here in forever! I read but my computer is the worst!!!! This spending freeze is killing me! WE NEED A NEW COMPUTER! I mean it can't even keep up with my typing some days and I don't know how to type!!

Well....we are all still dealing with Chelsea being gone. Trying to keep busy. Some days are worse then others. My Mom is really still having a hrad time. The dog was at her side every minute she was home so she unfortunately keeps looking for her to be there. We all are but not as bad as my Mom. I do reflect back to when I was in the middle of it and was so lucky to have you guys. I just deleted all your super kind text messages. You were all so supportive and never said what you probably knew the outcome would be. I feel like it was yesterday that you Kara and Laura went through the same thing. It's weird how so much is just blending...

We have done the zoo, the park, the water park, lunch at rain forest cafe...stuff like that. I have to say I have been pretty proud of myself at how well we have used coupons, free passes, library passes and the Grandma to cut spending this summer.

Mark isn't working this week so you guys know how I get with that. Note to self....MUST GO COMPLETE SUBSTITUTE teaching requirements!!!

OK Let's see how I can do....
Tammie...glad things are going well. Ready to kill me.......I can't remember why you are in Boise... I know I am terrible!
Cammie....Glad school is starting out well 4 Lauren. Super glad you can see the Jo Bros again How is Amanda and how is the exes wifey doing? The baby? And as for the computer browser question. Something gets messed up EVERY TIME I update my browser and sometimes I lose ALL my bookmarks! I truly do HATE computers and my reliance on them!
Kara...glad you love swim team...excited for you about the SWAN curious about the bed thing and hate you that you are wearing jeans because it's 80! I keep checking airfare to go to Naples in November but it seems high. I need some sun....oh we are going in October though so that will be GREAT! No WDW though....that not so great!
Jillian...I am so thinking of you with all you are going through!
Pam...Glad you are busy in a good way and that your school year started well. Oh and I love tequila!
Tina....Can't wait to hear all about your trip!!! So sorry you are home!LOL I am really sorry your DD is having a tough time of it!
Michelle......Glad to see you on FB! Except from that I figured out you are much too young for my liking ya brat!
Laura.....glad the puppy will HOPEFULLY be getting a good home. That was super nice of you to do!
Renee.....glad things are going OK on your end too. Big adjustments for all of us with school starting. I am scared for it!
Tessa...laughed so hard about what you said about the "mouthiness" Leave it to you guys to make me feel good about something else I feel like a horrible mother about!
Erin...welcome back hope it was fun and you got some sun! You needed to make that sun last!
Hi Lydia...

I hope I didn't miss any of you! I still am making excuses for my brain. I feel like it's a mess and for those of you who see me on FB it is just so much easier for me to hop on there. Mostly because of the phone! I still can't post to the dis from my stupid phone which BTW I have to find time to bring in to be fixed for trouble it is giving me.

Cammie - I think it's so sad that the thing that makes them the happiest is the thing that they cower about. DD10 hasn't told any of her friends that she went to Disney because she's afraid they'll make fun of her. She also didn't tell her friends she went to HM a few years ago because her friends called her a liar when she tried to tell her.

These girls are so cruel!!

Hi all
I am back, got home about 5 ish .. unpacked, got 2 loads of washing done, stripped beds and put on clean bedding, showered and in my pj's by about 7 hahahhahaha
Had a fantastic time, sunshine every day, man it was hottttt!!
Cj swam every day either in a pool or the sea .. she had so much fun!!
Downside .. My future SIL may have to have a letter added to the front :headache: not quite the B like kara's  but maybe a M for moany or R for rude or P for Pain in the backside :headache:

However all in all it was a fab week and i loove going on holiday with my folks
I will return with some pics after i have read back .. and also will put lots on fb as usual :lmao:

Hope you're all ok

Hi girls! We're watching the Ducks play like 10 year olds. I think the coach might get fired after this game. :headache:

Cammie, it's sad that kids can't just be themselves. I'm glad Lauren had a great beginning to her year.

Debbie! Nice to have you here. I'm glad you're doing better. We're in Boise cuz Jim is working here until some time in Nov. I'll probably go back at the end of October. We all love it here! If they would move the jets over here, we'd all be :cloud9: but our town would die out for sure, so I know that will not be happening.

Tina - how is DD10 doing? Remember to let her choose her clothes and shoes as much as possible within reason. I had a hard time fitting in as a kid, because my mom made me wear clothes she thought were "right."

Kara, how cool for Ally! We may see her in the olympics some day!

Laura, I hope the new home works out for the puppy.

Okay, our "tailgate" guests just left - we're all disgusted with the Ducks and they have to work really early. Have a great Friday everyone!

Good morning ladies! We're at the start of our 4-day weekend - and the weather is supposed to be just lovley. Looking forward to it!:thumbsup2

Yes, the girls and their drama can be the worst. I just wish Lauren had more confidence in expressing herself instead of being concerned about what the crowd will think. She's comfortable around certain friends - but not most. Guess she's still trying to find her way and I don't know if any of else ever stop trying to fit in some way or another.

Tina - how did the first day go for your girls? Did you DD10 handle everything ok?

Erin - welcome back! Glad you had a good time! When does Chloe head back to school?

Debbie - Downloading firefox was sooooo easy! I really couldn't believe how smoothly it went because usually I encounter some type of problem. Like I said, a prompt came up to transfer my bookmarks, I hit "yes" and it worked! I've been on nothing but Firefox for the past two days and I'm loving it so much more than IE. IE would never remember our log-in info. for various sites, even when we checked the "remember me" box - for instance, here on the DIS. I would have to sign in every time. But I'm not having that problem with firefox at all. And I think it's faster.

Thanks for encouraging me to try it everybody! Now, I'm off today to buy a hard drive so I can back up all of my pix I have on our computer. I do have most of them transferred to sites like photobucket or shutterfly, but I know I should back them up a drive also. At least that's what I've been told.;)

Hello to everyone else today! Happy Friday! :)

Happy Friday!

So tonight starts Dance for us - 2 hours every Friday night until May - don't get me wrong DD10 is awesome and DD7 likes it, but it's a long night. I can't wait to see the Friday night dance mom's - our group of girls have been dancing together for 5+ years so we have a nice bond - like here! One of our girls has sadly moved to GA so I'm going to print out her picture and bring it to dance tonight and take a picture of the girls with her - like she's there with us and then send it to her. I hope that will let her know the girls are still thinking of her.

Cammie - DD10 is doing ok - very concerned about what she's wearing right now. She sat with 'the popular girls' the last few days, but we'll see how long that lasts. I'm trying to get them involved in the Accelerated Reader program to help her confidence, but with this being a new middle school I've yet to hear how it works. DD7 is of course in her own world with all her friends - today she went to school wearing a colonial style dress - I don't know!

Went shopping for shoes last night at payless - picked up Ugg looking boot for both girls and 2 pairs of mary jane like shoes for DD10 - spent $82 :scared1: There's got to be a cheaper way! It's tought because DD10 is a women's size 7 so I can't get away with kids shoes.

Hey has anyone started Holiday shopping? I picked up a pack of playing cards for the girls when we were at Disney, but I haven't even given it a thought.:headache:

Well gals, I've got some good news and some bad news.

The bad news is that even though I deleted my ticker from this past weekend, your screen will still be widened because.....

The good news is...... check out my last ticker!!!!! Just booked today! 4 nt DCL cruise Feb 28th!!!! They have the kids sail free promo and it was the cheapest date I could find. Going to do it as cheap as possible. I really wanted to do a 7 night in August, but the darn ships are in Europe next year at that time so no 7 night cruises then......

We get into port on Thursday so we may head to WDW for 3 nights and make it a true 4/3 cruise deal.

I’m so ready for fall…it’s my favorite season. Football…pumpkins….the foliage, it’s beautiful.

Me, too, me, too!! My fave time of year between back to school and Christmas.

Tammie - How fun about the football game and new friends. Sounds like you are having a blast!

Laura - Know what you mean about the volunteering thing. I no longer volunteer for a job w/the school PTAs, Band Boosters, church and Girl Scouts, but only on an as needed basis, and when I can fit it in. Are you and Tim OK w/letting the dog go to another home at this point?

Cammie - LUCKY on seeing the JB again! I've only used IE! Creature of habit...Anxious to hear about your ADRs!

Tessa - I hope that your girls' first day of school went well!

Kara - Yeah for Ally on her swimming! Funny about the jeans and cold 80F weather!

Debbie - Would you all consider getting your mom another dog? I know it's hard to think of now, but it really does help heal. I've seen it w/my parents. Having our second dog helped us when we lost our Bailey in Feb. Now I don't want two dogs, but I am so glad that we did then.

Tina - Coffee - I have 2 cups in the AM during the week, 1 or 2 in the afternoon, and the occasional cup in the evening if I am trying hard to stay awake. Weekends at home are usually 3 in the AM. TOO MUCH.

Erin - I guess I must get onto FB and see your vacation pics. I just know that I will get sucked in and spend way too much time on there. Now my Megan, who thought that FB was for old people (ha!) is on FB. Some of her friends have switched over, so she is on FB and mySpace. Tay is just on mySpace. They don't believe I will ever get back on Twitter or FB, but I will! They are just such time zappers for me! I can't manage my fun as well as I need to!:rotfl:

Lydia - I've been getting my stocking stuffers on etsy. It's been a time zapper for me lately!:lmao: Your no kids trip is getting close!

Hi to Lorrie, Jillian, and anyone else that I didn't mention.

No big weekend (3-day weekend ) plans - may go to second 1/2 of HS football game that got called last night because of lightning, but we are calling for storms again tonight. Not sure what's going to happen there. Tomorrow I plan on going to a huge outdoor craft show/flea market w/my MIL. They have it one weekend/month. It's about an hour's drive from my house. I hope to pick up my aunts bday gift there, and maybe a few things for Christmas. Our neigbor friends are having an end of summer get together/cookout at their house. I hope to get by my parents' to see my neice, who they are keeping overnight Sunday. She's so cute and so smart!:cutie: My girls just adore her.

As for Christmas shopping, I've only gotten some stocking stuffers for my girls, teachers gifts for the middle school teachers (they are getting peanut brittle from the MS PTA fundraiser!!), and misc gifts for private lessons teachers, car pool drivers, etc., but no big gifts yet. Only ideas... We have 2 Sept birthdays, 1 Oct bday, and 4 Nov bdays! :scared1: in my family that I need to cover before Christmas. I have the Sept bdays covered for the most part (got my sis a bottle of wine on her cruise and hope to pick up a cute stitching bag at the craft show this weekend for my aunt - to hold yarn needles, etc by the couch), the Oct bday (SIL) 1/2 covered, and I am going to be working on my parents Nov bdays this weekend - a photo pillow w/a pic of the 3 grandkids, and an album of our Nov 07 WDW trip. It's getting harder and harder to think of things to get them! Picture gifts are always good. My Taylor's bday is in Nov, and she wants a new cell phone (but she isn't due for an upgrade til Dec-need to figure that one out), and Darrin's bday is while we are in WDW. That should be gift enough for him (he's getting fast passes for the whole family), but it won't be. I need to think of something....We are getting the girls the high beds w/the desks underneath and re-doing their rooms for Christmas. I will be glad that they will have workspace in their small rooms.

Erin - welcome back! Glad you had a good time! When does Chloe head back to school?

Thanks Cammie we had a great time .. Cj is back to school on Monday booo busy day tomorrow, she has a girl guide thing all day then we are off to a wedding reception in the evening, the wedding of a girl i went to school with and hadn't seen for 16 yrs till Facebook, how fab is that!!

Hey has anyone started Holiday shopping? I picked up a pack of playing cards for the girls when we were at Disney, but I haven't even given it a thought.:headache:

I have I have heehehehehhe i have almost finished Chloe's Christma spressies and have lots for others too

I promise i will put some on here too Pam just in case you don't make it over heeheehee you all know how i looove my piccies :lmao:

Hiya all,

Erin - put some on for me!!!! I love the piccies - but don't do facebook.... unsavoury stalker type from the past put me off.

Anyhow - the girls first day back was GREAT - they absolutely loved their new classes and teachers. Both have made new friends already - on top of the old ones..... And both have been moved on in their reading groups - eldest is now finished with the "scheme" books and onto free reading (she is just starting Y4 - they should be there in Y6 - so I am VERY proud!!) youngest is now level with her friend who is 9 months older, so I am well pleased that our plan of joining the library's summer reading challenge has really paid off.

Kara - once more I am jealous.....

We are having a "sort out the garden" weekend.... mmmmm machete through the undergrowth in hope of sometime reaching the fence more like.... We have filled 4 garden waste sacks (1m cube each) with clippings and have dismantled half a ton of rotten trellis, and it is sooooooo disheartening to see what a small area we have cleared in 3 hours! So we gave up and took the kids to play in the park :rolleyes1 - tomorrow we may continue.....

Tessa

Erin! Welcome back! Sorry I missed your post earlier. I'm glad you had a great time - I'll be watching for pics - guess I'll have to check FB, too.

Kara! Congrats on the new ticker :banana::banana:- your 3 day is still there, and I can't see the one for the cruise - am I the only one? You'll love the DCL, I promise!

Pam, enjoy your time with the girls this weekend.

Cammie, enjoy that sunshine!

Tina, I'm glad your girls are doing well at school. I drink about 8 cups of coffee a day! :scared1:

Tessa, I'm happy your girls are doing well also! I know the teachers always want kids to keep reading all Summer.

We took Ryan and Dana and Mason out to dinner at Tuscano's - a Brazilian place that serves all you can eat roasted meat - kind of like Ohana's only better. Huge buffet also. We had a great time! Really affordable too.

Today, Jim took pics of a couple of guys from work sky diving, and I met Ryan and Dana at a big family fun center with Mason - we all played lots of games to win him tickets and he got lots of little prizes - he has so much fun at those places! Then we picked Jim up for lunch and went shopping at an outlet mall. I got a pair of shorts and a pair of capris for $16 at Bass!

Tomorrow, we're going rafting on the river with friends. They give you a wet suit - that's driving me crazy. My swimsuits have skirts on them, so they won't fit under that - I don't have any other suits or bike shorts here. I'm thinking it will be hot tomorrow. I may just wear the "splash jacket" and my regular suit. The river is cold at home, and we just wear suits and life jackets.:confused3

Just checked the weather - it's going to be chilly tomorrow - guess I'll wear my suit with the skirt pulled up - I really wouldn't wear bike shorts again. Have a great weekend!

Sounds like everyone is having a great weekend!!

We're staying home and doing nothing. DH has to work until 7pm tonight and then has to work a wedding tomorrow night and has the annual football fantasy draft Monday night. So it's me and the girls all weekend long! :cutie: We'll see who survives by Monday:rolleyes1

Worked on DD10's new prurple courdory pleated skirt but had to come upstairs because the girls were fighting so much.

Kara - I'm so jealous!!

Tammie - rafting on the river sounds realy fun!

Tessa - I always say the mortgage is the easiest part. I hate weeding and yard clean up days. I always over do it and end up overheating. This year the girls sat and watched me making sure I drank enough water. Just think of what could be after you clean it all up!

Erin - did I read correctly -is your daughter a girl scout? Hooray! Very jealous that you've finished your shopping I'm just starting!

Laura - what is going on with you and the dog?

Deb - how are you doing?

Hiya all,

Erin - put some on for me!!!! I love the piccies - but don't do facebook.... unsavoury stalker type from the past put me off.

Erin! Welcome back! Sorry I missed your post earlier. I'm glad you had a great time - I'll be watching for pics - guess I'll have to check FB, too.

Ah sorry Tessa i hadn't forgotten you either i am def putting pics on .. I have a couple more from Disney Paris first, the official ones, i couldn't resist hahha

FILE0532-1.jpg

Erin - did I read correctly -is your daughter a girl scout? Hooray! Very jealous that you've finished your shopping I'm just starting!

Umm not sure if Girl guide and Girl scout is the same hahaha .. We have Brownies from age 7 to 10 then Girl Guides from 10 to 16 i would think it's the same hahha .. She looves Guides, she has only been going since Feb but loves every minute!
I still have shopping to do but Chloe is having a cut down this yr as we are going to WDW in Jan/Feb so really is only Father Christmas bringing her pressies ;) i am a really good sale shopper, i pretty much shop all yr round and then just leave the last few bits she asks for to the end

Anyone read the Kingdom Keepers books? I picked up #2 while I was down there and can't put it down and now I hear #3 is due out in April 2010 - can't wait! Blisters on my feet are finally starting to go away! I wore 4 different shoes (2 sneakers and 2 crocs) and surprisingly I think my feet did better with the crocs then the sneakers!

Our house computer uses Foxfire and my laptop use IE - if that helps anything. My computer guy installed the foxfire because he liked it better.

What are the Kingdom Keepers books?? Right now I'm reading Walt Disney, An American Classic...and I can't put it down! My coworkers are teasing me because I let glimmers of the addiction out at times...:lovestruc

Michelle......Glad to see you on FB! Except from that I figured out you are much too young for my liking ya brat!
Awww, you're only as old (or young) as you feel....;) Right now though, I feel like an 80 year old woman. Bones and ligaments cracking, popping, stretching, only 5 weeks left to go though.

Hey has anyone started Holiday shopping? I picked up a pack of playing cards for the girls when we were at Disney, but I haven't even given it a thought.:headache:
I have!!! I'm such a nerd, I'm having a love affair with Target right now...found a Thomas the Tank 12" boys bike on clearance for $15...DS is going to LOVE it. Also got a bunch of board games (Cranium, Partini, etc) on clearance as well, so those are going to make great gifts for extended family. Oh - and kids.woot.com is my new addiction too...got a few things from there too for stocking stuffers, etc. I have a problem, and it's name is shopping. :rolleyes1

Only 4 more days at the office for me, and then I'm done - indefinitely. I don't know if I can justify the daycare cost for 2, it's highway robbery. So for now, I'll be joining the ranks of the rest of the stay at home moms. I'm looking forward to it. :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day!!
