Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

'm miserable. I had my mirena removed last week. Glad it is gone but YIKES!!! Jillian I feel your pain. Called the Dr to see if what is going on is normal. cramps and large clots. I haven't even gotten dressed today. Ugh. The girls are bored. They are begging to go to the State Fair. I'm debating it. Walking would do me good. But then we have the puppy who can't stay in her kennel for more than 4 hours.
I'm going to join Debbie on downer island for awhile. ;) We love you Debbie! I'm hoping once school starts I can find my routine.
have a great Thursday! Hope Tina is having fun and Kara-are you guys going to meet up?

I am still a BIG doggie downer. Got my monthly friend and it has brought me right back down again!

Lorrie...I feel for you. Big changes. I feel guilty that right now I have been wishing Matthew was starting school every day. He is really giving me a run for my money. Really not listening at all to anything!!!!

Cammie....glad you had that moment with Amanda. She knew what she was doing!!! It was probably a big thank you!

Kara I hope you feel better! Have a great weekend! The BB thread is irritating me. EVERYONE is mad at Jeff and I get it but also everyone seems to forget its a game and that they all are probably starting to go "mad" in the house.

Hi Lydia... Hi Pam...Michelle...Jillian....Tammie.....Erin...Tessa....

Michelle..do you do facebook?

Hiya all, I'm back!!

Need a holiday now to recover!! Have read back a bit, but I'm never going to fully catch up you know...

Debbie - I do feel for you, so sorry to hear of your loss. Time will blunt the edge of sorrow, but it never quite goes.... The happy memories tend to take over after a while - brain goes into protection mode I guess...:hug:

Our holiday was great and awful at the same time.

We had a fabulous time - the kids discovered body-boarding and had an absolute blast - beach every day as well as out and about visiting the "sights". Weather was great some days , pants the rest, but the kids didn't care - we hired wetsuits, so they were happy as anything. The lodges were outstanding, really high standard - couldn't have asked for more.

But this trip really brought home how very ill DH's dad is. He is 77, has emphysema and degenerative heart failure, so is unable to walk more than a hundred yards without a rest. Luckily the places we visited tended to have free wheelchair loans, so we were able to include him in days out and about, and he had a great time without feeling over exerted, but it has worried us all for the future and how DMIL will cope with her advancing age too... it is heartbreaking to think about it all, so up til now, I think everyone has just pushed their heads in the sand and ignored it.

One positive note - since I volunteered to do a lot of pushing, and Cornwall is very hilly (and STEEP with it!!!!) I didn't gain any weight. And that was whilst eating Cornish pasties, Ice cream, cream teas of scones, jam and clotted cream, and loads of fudge and cookies. Also - we ate out EVERY day except for breakfast and a couple of lunches, so I think I did ok. Though I did notice that my choices tended to seafood and salad rather than steak and pasta - so WW must be getting inside my head....

Tough week. Little man has started school. He started half days this week, but today was the first full day. Of course he had tears in full gear when I left. :sad1: He just seems so little to be doing this. :sad1:

So I'm going to have lunch with him in a bit. I have helped all week with getting the kids their lunches but today I'm just going to sit with him while he eats. He will enjoy that.

I bet having lunch definitely helped and he'll have his buddies to play with in no time...before you know it he'll probably be begging to go to school just to see his friends. :lmao: How old is your son?

Cooler weather has finally arrived. I've been able to shut off my AC for the first time in weeks! So nice.
I'm SO glad the cooler weather is here too...yay for lower electric bills from no A/C!

Michelle..do you do facebook?
Yes...I have a facebook....how can I find you?

Glad you had such a great time!!! I'm sorry that your FIL is so ill...but that's great you were able to have him participate in your activities. And great job not gaining any weight! That's awesome!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Let see... read only this page, so hang with me as I try to respond by memory.

Laura - sorry to hear all is going on, but it is a just a short time and all will be better - right? Mia really misses him. That is the hardest part. She has "lost" her champion and bestest bud. She is really sad during the days.

Shelly - my son is 5 and my dd is 2 1/2.

Tessa - welcome back. Sounds like you did great on your holiday. It actually sounded nice!

Everyone, thanks for the support on the school days. It is so hard. Admitting that your baby is growing up. Sigh. He is doing better, but it is funny to see him so worn out! :rotfl: My little non-napper taking naps daily is interesting.

Not much else going on here. Trying to get caught up on household things. You know the never ending stuff.

I'll check back in soon. Ihave a mountain of laundry to do. I have been getting Mia's winter wardrobe off ebay. I've done pretty great. Lots of really expensive things bought cheaply. But it eats up my DIS time. :sad2::lmao:

Hi all! Tessa - Welcome back! I knew you were MIA, but had forgotten you were on a trip. It sounds like you all had a wonderful time. I am sorry to hear about your FIL. That's tough. We haven't faced that yet, but we spent most of the day w/my parents and aunt yesterday, and I thought of that several times. Time is just going by way too fast.

I am in chore denial. The girls and I have had so much fun this weekend. Today, we have a church youth activity from 12-3, then we will face chores (What do I mean we???? I will face chores) this evening. Grocery shopping is a must.

Our weather is getting a little cooler, too. I am going to take my coffee and paper outside on the porch! Last Sunday, I wouldn't have dared. Yuck. Hot and humid. We can't turn off the AC yet tho! These weekends just go too fast! Have a great day all!:grouphug:

Hi Ladies! I'm sort of back :) We got in to Boise last night, only to find that there were no keys in the lockbox for our apartment. We are staying at a nice hotel until tomorrow when Jim can get some made. Today, we found an open window and unloaded some of the car. Guess what? They haven't cleaned the place either - since July. Now since Jim moved our stuff in we can't ask for the maid service. Of course Jim and his friend are looking around saying, "this won't be hard to clean up. We can get it shaped up really fast." Wait a minute - who is "we?" I'm trying not to complain, but come on. I'm really grossed out by the bathroom and just some yuck - not a big deal, just would like to move in and get to work right away.

Boise looks like a great city, and I'm really excited to be here otherwise! We've been eating out and shopping since we got here. Now I'm sitting in the chaise with a glass of wine, and Jim is snoring away.

Our trip was really fast and fun! Disneyland was hot and Vegas was even hotter - 113 degrees! Lion King was amazing!!! I'll try to download my pics this week when I get unpacked.

I'll catch up later - looks like a few of you need some :grouphug:

Love ya!

I am in chore denial.

:rotfl:Welcome to my life!!

It is so nice to log on here and see everything is still the same. The things we love, the things we hate, the little and large problems of everyday life being talked through with so much support. It's so reassuring - like a big smiley hug!

Hi girls looks like everyone has been very busy.

Debbie- it will take sometime to heal and then things will get a little easier. Fall is coming and think of the positive there is so much to do you will have so much fun! Enjoy the kids enjoy some peace knowing school is just around the corner and we are here for you:hug:

Tessa- Sorry to here about you FIL it must be tough. Mike's dad is getting older and everytime we see him he gets a bit more frail, but he is stubborn and pushes on. Glad to see the weight loss is still on track I am stalled at this point just way too much going on and being at work eating out is not helping.

Tammie- Yuck on having to clean the new place. This is suppose to be your rest. Make sure Jim helps out. How are things going on facebook and twitter? I am also glad to hear you had a great time on vacation.

Hi everyone else I didn't go back very far to read sorry :guilty:

Things are crazy here as always I have been putting in 50+ hours at work and then coming home and taking care of Luca. I am exhausted :laundy:
More testing is being done for my "issues" so I am off for the next 4 days Woo Hoo!!!!

Luca started soccer yesterday and it was so darn cute I couldn't stand it. He was kicking the ball up and down the field passing etc...

Well off for now need to go get some labs done.

Last week of summer for us so I am going to try and make the most of it. Today I will clean and do errands though but then I am going to try and plan some fun!
Have a great week girls!

Whew! I'm exhausted!!! Couple of pics then I try to catch up later today....

Over by Jungle Cruise, letting the girls cool off in the water. They met this little boy with an accent. So my friend Melissa asked him where he's from. His answer? Tessa and Erin, you'll find this funny!!! "I'm from England but it's okay, I speak American." :rotfl2:

Fun weekend! We left about 7:15 on Saturday morning and were walking into MK by 11am. We never had more than a 15 minute wait for anything the whole weekend!!! No rain, surprising! And really only got hot from about 3-5 each day. Otherwise breezy and not too bad.

We stayed for Spectro on Sat night but then left as it had been a long day. Up and at Epcot right at 9am and rolled out of the parking lot at 4. HOme about 7:30 after stopping for dinner on the way back. All in all a nice weekend, although Ally was really mouthy and disrespectful most of the time. But at least the girls didn't fight with each other.

Very well said, and I couldn't agree more!:flower3:

Tammie - Nice hotel!? Bummer!:rotfl: Yuck about the apartment, tho!

Debbie - Have a fun week!

Jillian - How cute about the soccer! I love to watch the little ones play, when they all run down the field after the ball! I think it's much more fun than watching the really competitive ones play!;)

Kara - Great pics! Sounds like you guys had a blast! I love your t-shirts! You made them, didn't you? About Allie's mouth - get yourself ready for the teen years. It's not excused in my house, but it happens. TEENAGERS! They start young, too. My girls will mouth off, then eventually turn around an apologize. All the hormones - I feel sorry for Darrin sometimes!

I wish everyone else a fabulous week, too!:cutie:

I am so ready for the upcoming 3-day weekend! Here I am rushing time again. I just live for the weekends, esp lately...

hi there!
I'm joining the mouthy kids club. Aghhh!!! I'm having a hard time distinguishing her behavior from normal. it is awful. She said to me "mom, I don't have any friends." I felt bad but really when you act like a wild monkey on crack, who can blame them. :confused3 I know, I know she is mine but lord above I swear she isn't somedays. :scared1: i'm trying to talk her down right now. I wonder if this is because she didn't have friends to play with all summer or when she was younger. I mean we had playdates but they all have to be well thought out. There just aren't kids in the neighborhood her age. just a gulity moment. I need to get my attitude re-adjusted or it will be a long school year. i want her to have friends and be happy and well adjusted. I need to re-read raising your spirited child. I do feel bad for her.

okay bad mommy moment over...

Yuck on the apartment Tammie. Hope you aren't doing it all yourself. Was the trip to the Mouse fun? Hopefully it was a good distraction.

Happy monday to all! I agree with Teresa it is like having a big group hug when we all "talk" :grouphug:

I love RYSC. Maddie has always been "spirited" and I have a hard time knowing how to deal with her without crushing her personality. She is a good kid but turning four has been a real eye-opening for me. Talk about ATTITUDE! And WHY did we stop spanking our kids? (LOL)

Her tone of voice lately, can be very disrespectful and I don't stand for that at all.

Hiya all,

Ohhhhhh Lydia - I know exactly what you mean!! You may not want to hear this - but my eldest is 8 and the "attitude" is still there.

But on a positive note, they say that if your child speaks disrespectfully to you, it means that they feel comfortable enough in your company to try out different "personalities" - maybe that's just to stop us hitting the wall...:confused3.

I figure mine is trying to find her place in the world - as the eldest, they only have us to look to as examples, so I've started using a more respectful tone with her - even when telling her off, and it is starting to show... I must admit, sometimes I have to pull myself up - I talk to the kids like I wouldn't dare talk to anyone else...:rolleyes1 I don't use bad language or anything but do find myself using the "for goodness sake" start to every sentence... "for goodness sake get a move on" , "fgs put your shoes on now we have to get to school" , "fgs what on earth did you do that for" .

It is my aim for this autumn to try and speak to her like I want her to speak to me. Mind you, I remember MY mother saying "don't talk to me like that young lady" so I guess what goes around, comes around....;)

Kara - love the pics - and the English kid - so funny , mine asked if they would learn to speak American on holiday... but they did come home with a bit of an accent!!!! Their favourite sayings (must have heard them a lot in the parks) were "have a nice day yawl.." followed by " yawl come owva heeeya raaaat now" Still gives me a giggle to hear them pretending to be American.

Tessa

Isn't it funny that to Americans, all Brots have a Cockney accent and to Brits, all Americans have a southern accent?

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Dick-Van-Dyk* (you know who I mean - the morality police won't allow me to type it!!) and The Dukes of Hazzard have a LOT to answer for!!!! (never thought I'd use THOSE in the same sentence....)

Happy Tuesday!!:goodvibes

Well hello ladies I'm back!!!:goodvibes

We just got home a few hours ago and my feet are still killing me!

We had a great time! I'm not very good with writing trip reports, so I'll get to the question you are all waiting to hear....How long did it take for my girls to figure out that we were going to Disney?

Well, we woke them up around 5am, got them dressed and into the car telling them we were going to Canobie Lake Park (for those of you who don't know, CLPark is in NH and is only about 2 hours away). DD10 grabs the coupons we had for CLPark and reads the directions to us - there's also a map showing it in NH. So we pick up my mil, so she can drive the car home, they think she's coming too. We get to the airport, get through security and to the gate - we tell them we have to take a plane to get there. Now this is where I thought we'd loose them because the gate says destination - Orlando. DD10 asks DH about the destination Orlando and he tells her Canobie Lake Park is in FL. So they get on the plane, no questions. We then get on Disney Magical Express - DD10 says Mom only people staying at Disney can use this bus, I tell her they're going to drop us off. The entire time on the bus DD7 is telling everyone we're going to Canobie Lake Park. They believe it hook/line and sinker and then we get to Pop Century and get off the bus, the girls are looking around wondering what's going on. We start walking into the building and DD10 says Mom only people who are going to Disney can stay here, so I ask her are we staying here? Then she says only people who have Disney tickets can stay here, so I ask do we have Disney tickets? The two of them look at each other and DD10 says, are we going to Disney and we said YES - and they screamed and jumped up and down. Then I tell them we aren't going to Canobie Lake Park and DD7 saidly says we're not?

The surprise was so awesome! I can't believe we surprised them all the way to the hotel! We had an awesome time, not bad lines, REALLY bad lightening storm yesterday!!! I'll try to do a trip report with pcitures. Girls are jumping into the shower and getting ready for school to start TOMORROW!!

Hi everyone! Nice to see us almost all back here again.

Jillian, how fun Luca is playing soccer! I remember those days - the tiny ones are so cute when they play (or pick flowers). I hope you get some answers from the testing. 50 hrs a week! - Don't work too hard:eek: How can you get pg when you're so tired?

Debbie, hope you're having a fun week with the kids!

Kara, I'm glad you had a nice weekend. Your pics of the girls are so cute! I love the sombreros. The "English" story is priceless! That's one of the things I love about WDW - it brings so many people together. I saw Ally's first day of school pics - she's so adorable!:cutie:

Speaking of - Tessa! You are so sweet. I love the way you expressed how our friendship here just keeps growing! We can all be ourselves and know that no matter what, we're loved and accepted here.

Laura, sorry you're dealing with the mouthiness. I don't think it can be escaped, and it's just a part of life. All you can do is deal with it one day at a time and choose your battles.

We did have fun with the Mouse. Our vacation went too fast, but we were a little distracted, which helped. I did fine until the 12 hr drive here- I was half asleep and the Titanic song came on, - "my heart will go on" I had visions of Myles and Londynn in my head - But it's getting easier, and we talk on the phone once a week. Lindsay took her computer to school so we don't have the web cam talks anymore. I guess we'll have to send Mark one.

Lydia, what's RYSC?

TINA! How Fun!!! I was telling Jim about your surprise - we both thought it was funny you got to Pop before the girls figured it out! Good job! I'm glad you had a good time!:yay:

Pam, how is band going?

Well, I have everything mostly clean. It wasn't really that bad once I started. I still need to do the windows and wipe off more cabinets and closet doors. It smells smokey in here so I need to get some kind of carpet and furniture cleaner. I'm not sure if it will help. The old "scooter lady" above us smokes constantly, so it might be seeping through the floor! Oh, she's priceless - she walks her dog around all day on that scooter, looks in windows and yells at everyone for driving too fast, etc and reports people to the office for supposed infractions of the rules. She actually waves and smiles at me, so maybe she won't report me! :rotfl:

Today I mopped the floors, unpacked the suitcases and organized some things, got my nails done, got lost trying to find Target, went to Walmart for a printer cable, hooked up the printer, made a couple of phone calls, fell asleep at the pool, woke myself up snoring (so glad I was the only one there!:lmao:) Jim came back from the gym and joined me at the pool - then we came in and made spaghetti dinner with salad and sourdough garlic bread, then fell asleep for a couple of hours. What a life! We haven't been sleeping much at night - my legs and Jim's arms - Oh, and scooter lady rolling around in the middle of the night - sounds like closet doors rolling above you - so we took a really long nap. I told Jim we need to learn a card game or something. Most of the guys here are younger ranks or partiers, so we'll be alone alot.

Hi to Lorrie, Michelle, Cammie, Erin, everyone else!

Oh, BTW, I forgot my camera cord, so I won't be able to post any pics. I took a couple at Lion King, which was Amazing, then a CM came and made me put my camera away. I also took a few at DL I was hoping to share with all of you. Oh well, next time I guess.

RYSC = Raising your Spirited Child

It's a book about dealing with a child who has bigger-than-average reactions to things, often anger or frustration but also happiness. My daughter has been spirted from day ONE.
