Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

Okay it took a few minutes for me not to want to eat my computer screen those oreo balls looked so yummy!! Ally's finger is a little scary, but if they say it isn't broken thank goodness.

So I ran to Michaels to get some more iron-on papers, then ran home and printed out a bunch of images, then ran downstairs to put the t-shirts in the laundry and cut out the images. So now we're sitting in the livingroom eating a snack and all I can think about is all the work downstairs that I need to do. I have an appt. tonight so there won't be anything new done today. I'll take pictures when they're all done.

How's everyone else's Thursday turning out?

Hi Ladies! One more day of VBS and I'm wiped out! Having fun, but really exhausting - last night we had a dinner break and then had the girls and moms back for spa night. I had 3 helpers, and we had 37 or so in a little 14 X 12 room. The boys got the whole church because they were playing video games and there are TVs everywhere. Next year it will be different, or I'm not doing it.

Thanks everyone for being excited for me! :grouphug:

Michelle! I didn't catch that you are expecting - congrats to you! You are really close! Everyone has their bday at the same time - crazy. I think your kids will be little enough that if you were traveling or had a party the day before or after, they won't know the difference. We've had to do that both with our sons and grandbabies because of schedules - it all worked out.

Kara! I can't see the pics here, but I saw Ally's finger on FB and I freaked out, cuz I hadn't been over here yet. I hope she's OK. She really is a trooper.

Cammie, how are the girls doing with the step baby?

Debbie, so sorry about your stress. I know how it feels. You know, you will get through it, and at least you have a profession you can do. I'm sure things will pick up for Mark soon. I'm glad you still love your Arbonne!

Tina - we want pics of the T-shirts!

Pam, how is the new computer? We actually had rain mixed with snow this morning on the way out of town for an excursion with the VBS kids today!:scared1: It warmed up to a whopping 65 today! Down in the 40s last night. It will warm up again, but probably not hot again or warm at night.

I love to be able to go outside at night in the Summer and not have to bundle up - doesn't happen much here.

Lorrie! Welcome back! So nice to hear from you here! I've been too busy to get to scrapping and stamping, but I told Jim to make room in the van for my scrapbook stuff when we go to Idaho.

Hi Erin, Tessa, Jillian, Laura - everyone else :grouphug:

Okay, too tired to type more - Have a great Friday everyone!

TGIF!:woohoo: I hope that everyone has a great Friday!

Michelle - We've always had to celebrate our kids' bdays on other days, due to celebrations w/both sides of the family. At first I felt bad about it, but then realized that our kids celebrate their bdays multiple times, because we always do at least something very small on their actual bday, like open one small gift, special meal, etc. I feel for you about having to face the thought of not seeing your son on his actual bday. I didn't experience this until last year, on DDs 15th bday, then again this year on her 16th! Now this last one really bothered me, but it turned out OK. She was on a church mission trip both times. I had other people that helped to make it special, and at 2, I would bet that just the thought bothers you much more than it would bother him. I think that I would just chance it and try to wait until the day after his bday. If you go into labor early, just present the new baby as big brother's incredible bday present. What a wonderful thing to be stressing over, huh? A wonderful event!

I am stressing over all of the upcoming activities coming up w/the girls in prep for back to school - orientations, uniform pick up, dentist appts, ortho appts. I was going to take vacation days next Fri (middle school orientation) and the one after (last day of summer), but just realized yesterday that uniform pickup is today 4-5pm. I will need to leave work about 3:30 to get her there by 4:30. HS orientation is next Wed mid day! I may need to give up last day of summer vac day, or ask to go, then "work from home" the rest of the afternoon, like a lot of other people do....:rolleyes1 I am going to have to ask Darrin to take the ortho and dentist appts on another day next week. I wish that I didn't work!!

Hiya all,

well, Kara - that just about sabotaged my diet!! but I had some sugar free jelly (jello over there??) and staved off the choco craving!!

I thought I'd encourage the dieters amongst us, so heres my yummy lunch... shrimp salad with cherries for after
.

have just speed-walked a mile - took the kids to the park and they have a measured track there - 5 times round is 1 mile. Kids had fun and I had exercise. 2 weeks now till we get away - Cornwall - UK based trip this time, but in a lodge in an area which has beaches, pool, wildlife reserve etc, so should be fun.

As to birthdays, my family "date" seems to be 29th Nov - one brother, one sister, one Aunt, one Grandma - and my MIL all on that day.... what was 40 weeks prior????? ;) We never had trouble growing up as parties tended to be held a weekend before for eldest and a weekend after for youngest, and then family celebrations lasted the whole week in between!! The same day thing made my brother and sister feel "special" since it was unusual.

Thanks ladies...I think we are going to go with the 14th. Figure if she comes on the 13th then it was "meant to be". We'll see what happens. DS had no intentions of being born, I went past my due date, he never dropped, I never dilated, and the induction failed, so I'm wondering if this one will be the same way.

Lovin Life Good luck with all of the back to school prep! So glad I have a few years until I have to worry about that. You should definitely "work from home". ;)

TGIF!!! :yay:

Tonights a big night for DS...he's switching to his "big boy room" and will sleep in a big boy bed (twin size race car bed) for the first time. He's SUPER excited, and gets mad every night when it's bed time and he has to go down in his crib. I'm crossing my fingers we don't have a late night escapee tonight.

Good morning girls. We're heading back home in a few hours. I'm sooo ready to be back in my own house again. It's been a nice week but I'm exhausted. Sis' house is not accessible at all so it makes life difficult for me with Amanda.

Will update more tomorrow on the status of the step-sister. Girls are ok - curious. Although already, the ex mentioned bringing Lauren over to see her but not Amanda (baby is still in the hospital - long story). Of course, Lauren had to tell him that Amanda SHOULD come too!

Hope all is well. Saw those pix of the oreo balls. Yep, I've made them before. Mouthful of chocolate wonderfulness - YUMMY!

DVC owners...if you go and bring another family to split a 2 bedroom, how do I figure out what they would owe for hotel?

love Oreo balls. I think my dilema with them has been not letting them chill before rolling them. Yes they are fantastic. Add a little mint extract to them for christmas...yummy.

Getting rolling on brownie things. My girls are more excited for the try its. I'm still waiting for an offical word on the journey program. It would be a big bummer if they didn't allow try its any more :( I did not care for the journey program last year.

rain finally. My grass is so dry. Beth's camped out playing wii and katie is watching tv. Yup mom of the year.

We're doing a girls weekend the end of August!!! Me and Ally and our neighbors (mom and daughter the same age as Ally). Woo hoo!!!! Now to decide where to book? We can do a value for one night for $89 or CSR for $109 or SSR or OKW for $189. Just waiting to hear back wht they want to do! :cool1:

Kara - YEAH!! When are you going because we're going to be there then too? I always wanted to do that. I'm hoping when the girls get older we'll be able to do that.

CRSDismom - yeah I would be pretty upset if they stopped doing try its. The Journey program looks ok this time around, but I don't think it would be enough to just do that. The idea of girl scouts is to provide them with adventures that they aren't going to get access to on a usual basis. I just saw some of the WOW -world of water book and it looks ok.

Well this AM I ran downstairs and finished a bunch of iron-on t-shirts - yeah! I have to reprint a few but I got a good amount done. Then I did 3 hours of weeding and replanting and I'm exhausted!

How's everyone else doing on this Friday!

Lovin Life Good luck with all of the back to school prep! So glad I have a few years until I have to worry about that. You should definitely "work from home". ;)

I talked to my boss, and all is well. I just always fret about being out of the office other than holidays or vacation. Esp w/everything that is going on right now. All is OK, and I am going to take care of the stuff w/the kids, and just work from home when it makes sense not to drive all the way into the office. He was totally OK w/it.:):goodvibes

Tessa - Although I am mostly a junk food junkie, your healthy food looked yummy to me! I must give it a try!:rotfl2:

Cammie - Good for Lauren about speaking up for her sister w/her dad. To me, it sounds like he is so undeserving of such good girls, and you are to credit for them, and not him.:thumbsup2

Laura and Tina - I was not happy about the way GS was changing. Call me old fashioned, but I thought that it was great the way it was, earning the Try-its and badges.

Kara - Yeah! for your girls' weekend!

Tammie - Are you recovering from your week w/the kiddos?!:lmao:

Throw band practice into the mix, but DDs were at the lock-in last night. It was a crazy come and go schedule. Meg came home at 4am, only to be woken at 5:45 for band practice until 1:30 today. I guess I will be happy when she gets her license (but petrified!:scared1:) We need to practice driving tomorrow. We haven't been able to because of the band schedule. I am the terrible mom becuase I didn't let her play hookie this AM (can you say CRABBY:mad:? I am the only morning person in this house!!:cutie:). It was her choice to go to the lock-in, and she can nap when she gets home. Tay just got home and went straight to bed. I cannot believe she made the whole thing, expected her to come home w/Meg. Darrin was out the door to go fishing at 5:45. I cannot sleep great when I expect the kids to come home, so I slept lightly on the couch until 4. Nap today for me, too! I will have a quiet house until Darrin gets home or Taylor wakes up! I'm taking Tay to my mom's later today, to spend the night. Darrin & I are going to dinner, then to an Elvis impersonator show. I hear that this guy is very good. It's at a very little venue, there's not a bad seat in the house. I'm looking forward to it.:yay:

Hi Erin, Debbie, Lydia, Lorrie...Happy weekend!:cheer2:

Pam - I agree i like the badges. I think the journey program puts more of a focus on helping the community - which is important, but so is giving the girls the experience. I have to put together a value search and do a star for the banner before I leave for our trip.

Spent the entire day at a friend's pool and now the girls are playing Up on the Wii. I just need a few hours to do some packing planning. Can I just tell you it's FREAKING me out that I have yet to pack anything. Usually I start packing the second I hang up the phone with Disney reservations so this making me crazy!!! I need to pack!!!

How's everyone elses Saturday going?

Lydia, just asked Jim what he thought - kind of the same as my reaction - you have to decide what you want to charge. We paid $98 per point so half of a 2 bdr would be about $1200 for the week, I think. I might give them a break and ask for $600, because I will own the points for a very long time. I'm sure there's a thread on this on the DVC sections.

Pam, you are SO busy! Nice you can work from home. Yes, I'm recovering yesterday and today. I started moving stuff out of my storage room and back in to my office today, and we went to the fair for awhile - then I had to take a nap:lmao:

Tessa, your shrimp salad looks good! I'm proud of you for sticking to your diet!

Kara! Whoo Hoo on the girl's weekend! What did you find?

Cammie, sounds like you had a great time in Sox land! :goodvibes Are you back?

Laura and Tina, your kids will survive all the video games - mine did! They do wear glasses like these: :3dglasses  At least the Wii is active - my oldest sat on the floor on his knees for hours with the Nintendo - I had to kick him outside.

Michelle, Babies have a way of doing their own thing! Your second will probably happen much easier and quicker - your body knows how to get the signals now.

Well girls our VBS camp ended badly. One family sent kids on Thurs that had been throwing up on Wed night. I sent one little girl home. They had a sleepover on Thurs night - I went home - during the night, everyone started throwing up, even the children's pastor and one of the leaders - the adults spent all night cleaning up messes. I got there at 7am to help with breakfast, and they were calling parents to come and get their kids.

We spent half the day disinfecting everything on the bottom floor of the church - left the top floor to the janitor and church staff, who are paid to do that. Bummer. I don't know why people send sick kids to things like this - well, this family has 20 foster children, so they bring them to church as often as possible! :rotfl2:

Hope you're all having a great weekend! :grouphug:

Hiya all,

thanks for the support girls - the shrimp salad WAS yummy.... Not chocolate-cake-yummy, but yummy enough...;)

I need a translation though - Pam - what is a lock-in???? Over here it is a sort of semi-illegal activity where a pub (bar) gets locked after hours for a "private" party (allowed) - though what really happens is that anyone there when the pub shuts gets to stay (not allowed).... not that I would ever be involved in any way shape or form you understand!!

And Tammie - that end to camp sounds awful - I hate when people send sick kids - what did they imagine would happen??

Tessa

Erin & Tessa...HI! Glad your summer fun has begun! When do you go back?

Hi Debbie .. Cj goes back 7th of September but am not looking there yet hahha we have too much fun planned to be there yet, Dlp in 5 days, daytrips to london planned, theme park, and to Portugal for a week, then cinema trips, Cj has a Guide day and we have a wedding to top it all off ... and Breath as then back to school hahahahahha :lmao:

OH my goodness Tammie, that is awful, some people can be so selfish .. do they not think about others .. Awful poor you and big hugs

Kara .. How is Ally's finger doing?? Looks painful poor kiddo

Oreo balls look goooood (wish i could find a drooling smilie) :rotfl:

Been busy busy this side of the pond ... Spent thurs and fri helping my cuz move house, bless her there are 5 of them in her fam, her and hubby DD5 Ds3 1/2 and DS 6 weeks and they have been living in a 2 bedroomed house as they have been struggling to find anywhere to move to :scared1: so at last we have been able to move them to a 4 bed .. all kiddos have their own room and they are all soooo excited

Hi Pam, Tammie, Tessa :flower3:

Quick flyby!

Tina - we are going to be there Aug 29th and 30th - ran into the other mother at the pool yesterday and she is excited! We will just play it by ear as to which parks we'll visit. Probably MK on the 29th as they have spectro and wishes that night. Then let the girls pick for Sunday.

Spent all day yesterday at the pool with some friends from SC who stopped in. One thing let to another, we invited them back to the hosue for dinner - all 5 kids played upstairs, and the 6 adults hung out on the patio bar, and they left at 10pm! It was a fun day, but it was originally stupposed to be our friend and his 2 kids coming over for a couple hours, while his wife ran in a race in Jacksonville. He had the times wrong so she came, too, plus another family that travelled to FL with them - so it was a lot more peeps than we expected! But fun!!!!

Good Sunday Morning! Another week down and closer to our week of fun! Had a great time yesterday at a pool party for a friend of DD10 who moved back home to CT. It was lots of fun for DD10 to be with her dance friends.

Today we were going to go blueberry picking, but they don't do it on Sundays. My folks will be over soon, so I get to listen to my mom tell me how upset she was that I didn't call her about my cousin's party yesterday - what fun that will be! Sometimes I just don't want to do family things like that on Saturdays - those are the kids days to spend with their friends. Sunday is family day and I like to keep it like that.

Hoping to make oreo balls today with the girls - I have some frosting so I'll be dipping in the choco frosting for sure!

Have a great Sunday!

Check it out ladies!!!! I got on WDW this morning to book us a value room in 3 weeks - cheapest was $94. So I got on Expedia just to check - $69 for an All Star room!!!! Done!

Then Jeff's golf buddy called from SC about their annual trip in Sept! I heard Jeff say, "I'm in" and I had us a room booked at the Dolphin for Ally and me for $109! Can't beat that for the location location location!!!! And I think it might even be during F&W - I need to double check that! So Ally and I will just do HS and Epcot that weekend! The cheapest value room I could find was $99, and mods were $164+. So I'm getting a much nicer room (the Westin heavenly bed!) than even the deluxe resorts, and the best location in WDW (imho!) for the price of a WDW value!

Jeff said he thinks I'll come back and swear that we're always staying at the swan or dolphin after this. He might be right!!!!

Now to book a couple of meals for those weekends!!! Woo hoo! You can tell that the pass blackout dates are over - here comes Kara!!! :rotfl2:

The tickers are all there! Just the Dec one is hidden until after the first trip is done. I just can't believe the deal I got on the Dolphin! Should be interesting. But since we're hitting MK in August, we should be good at HS and Epcot while we're there in Sept. And I love my girls weekends with Ally!!!!

I'm gonna call tomorrow and see what I can do about ADRs.... Should be interesting!:sad2:

Jeff laughed so hard though when he saw me booking the night in Sept. I literally heard him say "I'm in" to the golf trip, and in 5 minutes I had us booked! Ally is pumped!!!

Today has been a bad lazy day. We were up late last night with our friends, then just didn't feel like doing anything today! Ally is still in her jammies and none of us have showered! Sometimes these are good days, but today I just feel like a slob.
