Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

Im suprized Im willing to share cause I usually dont but I have ADD. When I was around 10 it was bad. Anger managment counsling helped alot. I would get out of controll and couldnt come back. I would get angry, throw things, call my mom names and treat her like crap. I would also hide in my closet (as an attempt to be in a calm place). I was on ritlin (I dont reccomend it, I ended up loosing my hair) but it didnt help! I outgrew it to an extent by college. I still have focus issues but aside from that im good.

I have ADD as well and am afraid I see some of my own traits in Maddie, although her ped doesn't think so. I don't know what age it is usually diagnosed.

they can diagnose at any age. Dr's seem to be reluctant to diagnose it early. It seems that most dont get caught until 3-4 grade. I was told by the school psychologist that they want to rule out normal developmental patterns. I think parents know more that they give them credit for. I had beth evaluated by the school and they said no ADD but now that's why we are at the psychologist looking for the diagnosis.

The raising your sprirted child helps but I think it can be used in concert with meds. Tim has been on meds for 18 yrs. I know there are bad side effects. I' m sorry to hear you lost your hair baby_b.

We had a long family discussion last night and things are going better. Dr still cant get her in because we haven't been officially diagnosed. Ah the joys of meds. We will do what we can. I re-read some of the main points of RYSC and we are working with the love bucket theory. so we will see what happens. thanks every one!!

BTW Debbie is sitting having coffee at her favorite place om earth right now.

HAPPY THURSDAY!

So we had a GREAT GS meeting last night. The girls decided to work on a year long play that will incorporate the badges they picked (puppets, dolls and plays, art to wear and colors and shapes). Theme of the play sounds like it might be some type of Seasonal Princess/Fairy thing that incorporates the GS Law. Should be interesting. Had to put two girls in time out - one being my own and the other being another leader's daughter. :headache: DD10 did wonderfully teaching the girls the elephant song and the teacup song. She was so excited about teaching them - it was the first thing she said when I walked through the door last night.

This AM - well of course DD10 waits until it's time to go to realize she doesn't have her gym bag and instead of continuing to look for it she opens the frig to get herself a drink. Well here comes that bad mom stamp, I shout at her "Put the milk away you fool and look for your gym bag. It's time to go." :scared1: Yeah not my best moment. Did I mention she has a science test today, so I'm sure the "FOOL" comment will help her out big time.:headache:

Laura - First of all.......................... I'm so sorry for all you're going through with Beth. Hang in there and know that you are indeed a great mom and she does love you. Everyone here has given you great advice so I don't have much to add. Except with what I bolded up in your comment. Always remember - as Beth's parent, you most certainly do know your child best. I hope you are working with drs. who respect your opinions and seriously take them into consideration. Trust me, I have met my share of drs. who assume that because they have that medical degree, they know my child better than I do. NO child goes exactly "by the book". Ever. If you have a gut feeling about something, stick with it. And don't ever let any doctor talk down to you.

Kara - lovely "cougar" pic. I need a girls night out soon too. My friend and I are taking Lauren and her friend to the Jonas Brothers concert on Saturday. Do you think that counts? ;)

tessa - "snot monster". :rotfl2:

Pam - Yes, we watched Lady Gaga on SNL. Was disappointed she didn't belt out PokerFace but she was entertaining nonetheless.

We also have tickets to see Miley Cyrus in November. Before the tix went on sale, Lauren asked if we could get an extra ticket for a friend. She had asked one of her friends if she'd be interested and she had said yes. I told Lauren to make sure this friend checked with her mother first; she said she did, so I purchased the ticket for her. (mistake) So a few weeks ago, the charge for the tickets show up on my cc statement and I email the mom with the breakdown of costs and the event details. She emails me back saying she never gave final approval for her daughter to go; and now that the mom sees it's a school night, she won't allow her to go. Um, hello? I've already purchased her ticket!!!!! I told the mom how disappointed and shocked I was that her daughter would tell us it was ok; when in fact it really wasnt. The mom actually stood up for her daughter and got snippy with me, claiming her daughter did talk to her about it, but was stilll wanting for more details. (so why didn't mom call me with her questions?) Personally, I think mom is full of sh**. Her daughter is not flighty. I think she did get her mom's approval but when mom saw the cost of the ticket, she wanted to back out. :headache:

Fortunately, Lauren has asked another friend and she excitedly said yes. And I've personally talked to the mom and she's fine with it too! Whewww!:yay:

that was so my fear with the concert. Beth really wanted to bring a friend. I told her no after hearing that I'm thinking I made a good choice.

When is your concert? And so it's just you and Beth? Prepare to be up on your feet, bopping to Party in the USA, girl! :goodvibes

im working on the ice cream slide myself, it is on Oct 29. Beth really wants to learn that dance and I am no use to her on that one. So it will be a good time. Beth wants to get all dressed up.

I'm so excited!!! DD10 is going to run for 5th grade representative for her class! We just wrote her speech and picked out her clothes for tomorrow! I'm so proud of her to have the confidence to do this! I HOPE SHE GETS IT!!

Oh good luck to her, Tina!

I'll keep my fingers crossed. :thumbsup2
(I know that's a thumbsup, but you get my drift.)

Baby B and Lydia, thanks for sharing. It is so great that we all understand each other.

Laura, glad things are better today.

Tina - good luck to your daughter!

Cammie - what a headache about those tickets. :headache: I'm glad Lauren has a friend who can go.

I'll be back later - Jim is out with the boys, and I'm supposed to be working!

Wanna hear something dumb? I decided since I had seem the sun in a few days, I would go taning. Guess what color my tummy is? A nice shade of crimson. I could cheer for Ohio state with my tummy. I feel much better getting some sun though. Ah the price of beauty. Debbie is at MNSSHP. No lines.

It's usually my butt with a bunny tail! :lmao:

Oh yeah!!! Go Buckeyes!!!! :cool1:

OK, so back to my tales of the creepy crawlies in Florida. Last night Ally and I went out to get her Halloween costume. Backstory - Jeff and I decided to go to our Halloween party as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia - and when we go trick or treating, we dress up, too, so........ we needed a Yoda! Ally was so mad when we told her this and it finally came to a head yesterday. She was crying and so upset, probably thinking she'd be made fun of (which she probably would!) so I agreed to let her dress as a pirate instead. After all, we will all need pirate costumes for the cruise, right?

So we go to get her costume, and I go to pay for it....... no wallet. I hunted all through my car, my purse, no wallet.

I was so mad! Now I have to go back out today to get it and it's not exactly right around the corner.

So as we're driving home and I'm fuming, we pull into the driveway and I hit the garage door opener. Right then, my headlights lit up something on the driveway and Ally said, "Mommy, what IS that?" All I could think as I hit the garage door button again was, please go down please go down please go down, and whatever you are please do NOT go in my garage!!!!

A snake. A big fat snake. He lifted his head and looked at me. I backed up. I hindsight I should have just run him over, then backed over him, then forward, backward, etc. Because it was NOT a black snake. Of course I didn't get close enough to know for sure, but it was dark on top with a patterned belly. Poisonous. Probably 3-4 feet long, but FAT!!!!

So I called my neighbor. No answer. Called another neighbor. No answer. Called a friend around the corner.

"Melissa, how does Chris feel about snakes?"
"He doesn't like them, why?"
"But does he like to kill them?"
"He will if he has to, why?"
"Well he HAS to!!!! Send him over!"

About 30 seconds later, he zooms up on his golf cart with his 11 year old son in tow. Meanwhile, his daughter is on the phone with Ally, who's sitting in the backseat crying hysterically.

By the time he got there, Blake the Snake had slithered off into the bushes. So I opened the garage door to get our shovel, and Chris and Drew started hunting for my new friend. But he was gone, and I didn't want them prodding around in the bushes. When I described the snake, Chris said, "that doesn't sound good." :scared1:

Then of course I had to take Bucky outside before bed. I was freaked that Blake was lying in wait in the backyard.

So Ally wanted to sleep with me last night (Jeff's out of town) and Buckey too. No problem, right? WRONG!

I took Buck to the vet yesterday for an ear infection and he kept me up all night shaking his head!!!!! Poor baby, I know it bothers him, but it was awful!!!

Oh, and to top it all off, did I mention that Ally is having a little sleepover tonight? Yup, two girls are coming over and I have a lot to do today to get ready - I need to go to the store, clean up, etc.

One more thing. Sore throat. Yup, I have a sore throat and that's usually how I start when I get sick!!!

I'm so not having a good week........ But ya know what? Today is another day!!!! And it's FRIDAY!!!!

Ok Kara - You WIN! I will never be able to move DD10 down to FL now. She is deathly afraid of snakes. We can't watch Harry Potter because of the snake in the second movie. I can tell you that they don't like Cayenne Pepper powder, it burns their bellies. During the summer I sprinkle it around the border of my fence to keep those mothers out. I buy a huge container of it at BJs and empty the entire container at least once a month - you have to reapply after it rains.

So I've just washed/bleached my kitchen and bathroom floors and I feel GREAT! There's nothing like the smell of bleach in the morning to start your day! Load of laundry in the machine and I'm good to go. Now I'm trying to figure out if I should go downstairs and start sewing or turn the TV on and knit. I'm thinking TV and veg. I have to wait patiently for DD10 to come home to find out if she was voted as class representative, I can't stand the waiting!! Still trying to figure out what to do this weekend, but I think you're right I'm going to sew. DD10 wants a colonial dress like Jo March from Little Women for Nellie because she's almost done with the book. What she doesn't know is that I'm going to take her to the Alcott House, Concord, Ma after she finishes it! She'll be so excited.

I'm so happy! My friend MT asked me to be her baby's god mother!:yay: I've always wanted to be a god mother or/and an aunt and since my bil & sil (Who are my only hope) don't seem to be moving things along, I get to have this! I'm so excited! She's definitely going to need the support because I don't think (and I kinda hope) her BF is going to hang around. Plus our psychic told us he would - yup - she predicted the baby and that he wouldn't hang around in May 08. So I know it's coming but I just have to keep reminding her that she needs to be strong about it. He's not good for her anyways.

Hope everyone is having a GREAT FRIDAY!!:flower3:

Ok so here's a picture of what I've put together for DD10 when she comes home! I hope she get's the position, but I'm so proud of her for trying.

Plus here's some pictures of the clothes I've made for her dolls. Here's Nellie modeling the items.

I still have to finish matching hat and glove, cable sweater, a green coat for Nellie, a colonial dress for our Louise Alcott house trip, another Christmas skirt and a yellow 50s dress. Whew!

Laura - that's so funny...........Lauren wants me to learn the Hoedown Throwdown for the concert. :dance3: Thing is, I don't know if she's singing either of those songs though. I wasn't expecting songs sung by "Hannah Montana"; just Miley Cyrus. Guess we'll be pleasantly surprised. Our show is Nov. 9th.

Kara - I would DIE! Just DIE if I found the reptiles you seem to on a daily basis! What do you do after you kill a snake? Throwing in the trash? Ewwww!

Hope you recover for the sleepover tonite. We have the Yankee game again on tonite. It's fun watching the game with Lauren. She's so into it - puts on her Yankee jersey and screams at the tv. Makes me proud. :goodvibes

Tina - let us know how DD made out with the election. Good luck! (love all the American girls!)

Debbie called me from the Haunted Mansion ride last night - they were at the Halloween party. She sounds positively thrilled to be there.

Hi to all! May try to be back on later. We'll be Ct. all day tomorrow for the Jonas Brothers concert. Woot! Woot! Can't wait to see my inappropriate crush again! ;)

Well I did it girls We're booked!!!! Where you might ask .......

The POLY :cool1: :yay::woohoo::lovestruc

It is a surprise to Mike he has no idea. I picked up shifts to cover the extra cost and it will be while he is working so I can pull it off. WOO HOO!!!!! I also put baby clothes on craigslist and I am collecting change.

So have any of you stayed there? I am going to need major help planning.
