We are staying at POFQ for first time in May and wanted to know what others have thought about this resort.

Have stayed there twice; once with the kids (8 & 6 at the time), and once for a long weekend just DH and me.

Loved how compact it is; really no building is far from bus stop or food court.

Awesome theme pool, Doubloon Lagoon, with the sea serpent water slide...kids loved it.

So-So food court, kids thought the Mardi Gras Float "heads" were creepy.

We reserved a carriage ride the first night with kids, it was a nice way to see the resort (goes between FQ and RS.)

Boatwrights at POR is really good; takes about 5 min to walk over to POR.

Sometimes shared bus with POR, POFQ gets picked up and dropped off first.

Lovely French Quarter theme, walking along the gas-lit "streets" past the gardens and wrought iron fences was really special.

Nice to take the boat to Downtown Disney.

Some of the nicest water-view rooms at Disney; also pretty garden-views.

Would stay there again, definitely, if we needed a moderate. (We are DVC now.)

We enjoyed our stay at POFQ!

Quiet, small resort!! :)
Loved the theme.

Loved having DTD just a boat ride away.

Kids loved the pool!!

Try to make it over to Boatwrights at POR, the food is just so yummy!!!! :goodvibes

This was the first moderate we stayed at after 5 deluxe stays, and we were very happy with the resort. Things we liked:

Transportation! We were always the first picked up and the first dropped off by the bus. Also, there was a bus to Downtown Disney that was very convenient.

The food court had a nice selection and was never really too crowded to eat.

The pool is nicely themed and big enough to handle a large crowd.

The grounds are lovely.

The rooms are clean and quiet.

We will definitely stay there again!

:)

Hubby and I stayed at POFQ last year for the first time. It was our first trip together and other than my stay at SOG back in 2000, the only time either of us had stayed on-site.

We really liked it and hubby even commented that he'd be happy to stay there every time. We're only staying at CBR for this upcoming trip because I want to experience the other mods.

We did not use the bus, but did take the boat to DTD and really liked that. The resort itself was very nice and quiet. We almost felt like we were far away from the parks, yet every one was a quick ride.

These were taken on a fairly cloudy day, so they do not show off the colors as well as they should.

Here's the pool.

I liked the detail in the iron on the balconies.

We had a standard view, overlooking the courtyard and when we stepped out onto the balcony at night, you could see some of the fireworks from Illuminations over at Epcot.

It's small resort, so you won't walk much. There is no sit down restaurant. The pool is kinda lame for older kids. The buses are shared with POR but POFQ is picked up first.

We love it here! We stayed here this past Feb. it was our first time at POFQ. We were in Bldg. 5, floor 3, in a corner room, and a courtyard view. Everything was close, the room was fabulous, and service was terrific! Here are a few photos:

We stayed there last July at found it very nice. Everything was close enough and the staff was very helpfull. The atmosphere was very nice and quiet. But we did spend a lot of our time at the parks so my opinion my be skewed.

Thanks for the great advice and pictures!!!! I can't wait to get there. It seems like it is taking forever for May 11th to get here. :bored:

We just got back from a 10 day/9 night stay at POFQ this past Saturday, March 17th. We loved it. We stayed at ASMu last year and felt this was a much better vacation. We liked the resort so much we have already booked another 9night/10 day vacation for next March at POFQ.

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter in Feb. After staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge on our last visit in July we were somewhat disappointed with Port Orleans. I knew it wouldn't be as nice as AKL, but it was quite a step down. Our room wasn't bad, and housekeeping did a decent job.

We didn't care for the share transportation either. They share with POR. AKL didn't share with anyone else.

The food court was always crowded and the staff were rude and very slow. I didn't like how you had to wait in separate lines to get different items. Sometimes we waited thirty minutes or more for our food. It also made me nervous how fast the carts drove by while walking to and from our room, that's an accident waiting to happen.

Our family loves going to WDW and we will continue to make it our vacation choice, but next time we will be going back to the AKL, it is definitely worth the extra money!!

About 10 years ago, for a graduation gift, I got to stay at POFQ with some friends. I thought it was gorgeous, from the check in area to the swimming pool. Also, I liked how small the area was, after a long day at the parks I really wanted to head back to my room without having to walk a long way. I didn't eat at the food court, so can't really say much about it. This June we are going to POR, would of stayed at POFQ again, but my DH insisted on staying there. I really can't complain though, because POR is just as beautiful as POFQ, just a bit bigger.
