So, I had a free round trip air voucher for getting delayed on an Air Tran flight last year. I finally booked a weekend trip to Orlando. Sadly, no WDW this time but I'll be spending my two days with my grandparents in St. Cloud.

I'm looking for a dirt cheap rental car for May 1 - 3. Any ideas/experience? I won't be doing a ton of driving but May 1st also happens to be my grandparents 67th wedding anniversary so I'm hoping to take them out to dinner!

Thanks for your help and advice!

I've always been nervous about trying priceline because you can't pick the company, but last year I decided to give it a shot. I way under-bid and they accepted! I tried again for my Orlando trip this year and saved over $150. I think I put in $8 per day. You can always go back and bid again after 24 hours if they don't accept your bid! All the companies are right in the Orlando airport too. Hope this helps!

Priceline bidding worked for me too. My bids were way below what I thought would be accepted, but they surprised me and we got a great deal.

Advantage rental car has some pretty cheap rates and I know they have an agency in Orlando.

check on the Disney Transportation board and look at May rentals. The kind people there posted some good things to look at!

Thanks for the ideas! I've never used Priceline but $8 a day would be FABULOUS! I have some coupons in the Entertainment Book also but Priceline seems to be the best bet!

I've never used priceline. Do you have to pay for the entire thing when you book?

Another happy priceline customer. I paid $17 a day for a minivan last time I rented.

Yes. When you place your bid you put in your credit card info. If they accept your bid they automatically charge your card for that amount. If they do not accept your bid nothing goes on your card and you wait 24 hours before placing another bid.

My total for my trip next month was $97 with taxes and fees for 5 days!!:cheer2:

Is it any cheaper to get your rental car at the airport vs. picking up at wdw?

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and try Priceline. Is there any advantage to booking now or should I wait until closer to the trip?

Wow--and I thought I did well when I paid $22 a day for a minivan from priceline! (Jan 09). When did you travel? I'm not doing well with priceline for this trip (yet) but i haven't given up...

My understanding/assumption has always been that you cannot get priceline for non-airport pickup. Someone can correct me here.
If you were not referring to priceline, you may want to price out both, because non-airport could be cheaper because of the additional taxes, but then certain code/discount only works at airport rental. If you do fly into MCO, and not picking from the airport, you also may save a day's rental, but then it may or may not affect your weekly rate. hence my suggestion on pricing out both.

As someone suggested, try to transportation port or mousesavers.com to check out the codes.

If you are not using priceline, one thing for sure is to book early as you can always cancel and rebook when price drops.
