Two of my friends and I have been planning since March to go November 2016 for Wine & Dine and the parks, Nov 4 -12. One of my friends has a timeshare, where we stayed last time and would again this time.

Unfortunately, though good for her, she's getting rid of the timeshare. However, this puts the trip in huge jeopardy since that was going to be our accommodations. She's also not sure she will be able to go now.

I have planned a trip before, but we stayed at the timeshare. I've read all about the planning people do staying on site or renting points. I'm not sure where to start looking for staying off site. I would like to keep the trip for at least the two of us, and if that's the case we could do a hotel instead of a condo. Though a 2bd condo would be nice.

Do I look on expedia? Are there vacation rental sites to look at? What areas are good and where should I avoid?

I'm trying to figure out if the trip is salvageable or if I need to just give up, which I don't want to, but hotel's can be a lot. I'm already doing things to earn extra money, so that's not something I can do more of.

Thanks!

There are tons of affordable offsite options. Takea a look at vrbo.com or homeaway.com

Have you looked at staying on site at a value? I'm guessing with the time share you had a car, which is not a necessity when you stay on site.

I think this is what we will do, staying at POP. We discussed it and are good with the rate even without a special and then we'll see what happens. I'm going to book through Dreams so they can hopefully add any special if there is one. We'll still need a car for 2 days at USO or uber. We'll see.

I'll check out vrbo and homeaway for options if our other friend ends up coming. Thanks for those!

Check out Tropical Palms Resort. Cabins are usually about $70 per night & come with a full kitchen. From the time we walked out of our cabin to the time we shut the engine off in the Epcot parking lot was 8 minutes. Universal is a bit more of a drive from there then Disney, but still not terrible.

Its a touch too early to be looking for November on Skyauction, but that's a great place to find super cheap timeshare rentals. My boss has picked up a beautiful two bedroom, two bath villa at Sheraton Vistana Resort for a week for as low as $470 including all taxes and fees. One bedroom villas can be found even cheaper. Definitely way more privacy, space and amenities than a small room at POP.
