Hello, I searched and I'm still looking for recent recommendations for the Best Steak Dinner at WDW.

We'll be at WDW the second week of February, staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

It's our anniversary and we want to celebrate! I remember having a most wonderful Wagu steak dinner at the Captains Steakhouse way back in 2006.

I'm wondering what's new or different since, especially the 71 Steakhouse.

Thank you !

I've been all over The [Disney] World and enjoy a very nice dining experience - and don't mind paying for it. But it sort of depends on what you are looking for in your 'dinner' experience. Just the steak and an amazing meal- I agree with Shula's - or STK in Disney Springs. But they are both chain steakhouses - very good, but an experience you can get elsewhere. But if you are looking for an amazing meal - can't go wrong.

My favorite experience is Narcoossees (but, alas, it's closed for a bit). Is it the best steak? It's very very good, but not the best on property (that's Shula's). However, nothing beats the entire evening enjoying the company of my favorite bartender while they hold a meal while we watch the fireworks. Same can be told for Cali Grill, or Citrico's (the fireworks are a bit of a walk to go see - so not during dinner). Jiko - I've never had a beef steak there - they have so many other wonderful things there (I actually haven't been there in a while - and it is going back on the list for the next trip now that I'm thinking of it).

Le Cellier is over rated. The steaks are good, but its just too much work these days to get in - and it's small, etc. Better experiences elsewhere. I also firmly believe in going for a nice meal means dressing the part - and it's hard to get dressed nicely and then go to Epcot.

Yachtsman is also good - but I've had hit or miss there, and there isn't the same special that the fireworks at MK bring - or the animals at AKL.

I have yet to have a steak at Steakhouse 71 - I'm not sure about it - I've eaten there for breakfast a couple of times and want to like it (the pictures going in are really fun) - but it wasn't amazing (for breakfast).

If looking for an amazing meal - Shula's or STK (Shula's gets my edge). If you have a car - you get validated valet parking at Shula's, ask at the check in desk - and this makes it much easier than STK. If you want a whole nice Disney experience...Cali Grill (with fireworks) or Citrico's and the fireworks gets my vote.

Just got back from WDW and had steak at The Boathouse, Citricos and Steakhouse 71. Steakhouse 71 was good but a notch below the others. I’ve also recently had steak at the Yachtsman, which I’d rate between 71 and The Boathouse.

I’m definitely going back to Boathouse and Citricos, but if I had to choose just one it would be Citricos. That meal was outstanding and I highly recommend it. The filet mignon had a wonderful woody flavour, was perfectly cooked and the service and atmosphere were outstanding.

Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time with all the helpful details! I will be looking hard for reservations at these restaurants. I agree with your chain restaurant comment, I tend to stay away from a place that I can eat at, anywhere else. But the upside with this is, I live in Wisconsin, don't get to travel much and don't run into these chain restaurants nearby, right now, anyway. I would like to pick your brain for the best seafood meal, too. Specifically, Florida specialties.

Wow! Thank you for all these great details! I'm definitely going to look for a Citrico's reservation! It sounds like the perfect anniversary experience!

I would look at the menus at Jiko’s, Citrico’s, and Narcosse’s, I personally think these are the most likely to feel romantic and special and pick one of those. Look at the menus to make sure both of you would be happy at whatever you pick. WDW is not where you go for a memorable steak dinner. Now, if you love steak and a steakhouse is the priority for you, that would be Shula’s if you stay on property. You can get a good steak at a few other places at WDW, but for the traditional steakhouse feel, it’s Shula’s. And as others have said, don’t pick Le Cellier as it’s cramped and overrated.

Oohh! This would be perfect, right at our hotel!
Jiko's would be our recommendation, too - not actually a steak house, but a few excellent steak choices. We've found Shula's to not be as good as 'it used to be' in the past few years. Jiko's is a beautiful restaurant, great food/service, and would be extremely convenient - walk instead of drive/bus! Our alternate choice would also be Citrico's. And just FYI, if Nacoossee's might be something you'd like to try, they are not currently open.

This question comes up often on the boards. The answers typically include a broad range of restaurants and many conflicting experiences.

For us (we are local) the best is actually not on property, but very close. Bull & Bear at the Waldorf Astoria in Bonnet Creek.

When "steakhouse" is literally the name of the restaurant, being a notch below is a complete fail.
It was good, so I wouldn't say it's a fail; it is also substantially cheaper than Citricos.
