if you have been patient waiting for a bcv resale, maybe a contract with points from the current use year, or at least not completely stripped out.

how do you feel today, that the retail price for BCV is $89.00 per point?increased from $84.00 per point on 08/04/2004

do you feel the same?

or do you feel that maybe you should have bought that stripped out BCV contract at $72.00 per point,
in the early summer of 2004?

It's really a matter of opinion. Do you REALLY need those 04 points? We were looking for a BWV resale, and my only prerequisite was that it had all 05 points intact. We were particular about which use year we were interested in, so that limited the playing field a bit. I didn't need any 04 points, since we just returned from WDW, and to get a contract with all those points, you usually pay a few more $$$ per point, but usually have to reimburse for 04 maintenence fees. So, even with renting the points out, we were looking at making $3 per point on any current points. That's not much IMO, to wait for. If you have a trip currently planned, then waiting for those points might be worth it to you. We decided it wasn't worth it to wait, and made an offer on a contract with 30 points left for 04 and all points available for 05. It was a good deal for us, but my offer was made and accepted the day before the price increase and all the new ROFR activity. We're into Disney now, and somedays I think we'll pass, others I don't think so and I'll have to start all over. I look at things this way when comparing resales to Disney's price. If you buy a resale with all current year points in tact, you're looking at around $75 per point. Then you'll have to reimburse for 04 maintenence fees, which run around $4 per point. You also will have to pay closing, which usually run around $3 per point. You're now at $82 per point, with Disney being $89 per point, not as good as a deal as thought. I agree, it's still a significant savings over Disney's current price, but with Disney exercising ROFR MUCH more frequently these days, that contract might move up a few more $$$ higher, making the $89 through DVC look more attractive. If you truly want a BCV contract, I'm sure you've already contacted all the resellers with your requests, and check their websites OFTEN! I've seen contracts on the Timeshare Store website, be gone in less than an hour, so sometimes it doesn't pay to wait for your broker to call. If you see a contract, call them. If your broker isn't in, talk to someone else and have them make the offer for you. My contract was posted and I made an offer within an hour of seeing it. I heard back from the seller in a half an hour, and we had a deal. After posting my deal here on the DIS, another poster had stated they were looking at that same contract. If you snooze here, especially for a loaded contract, you'll probably lose. You really have to be aggressive and be ready to make an offer at any time. I had my DH on standby at all times at the office to bounce an offer off of him. If I couldn't reach him (his cell was in play if he wasn't in his office) in 10 minutes, I had carte blanche to make an offer I felt was appropriate. Luckily I was able to find him when the time came, and we got the contract we were looking at. I've seen about 4 or so BCV resales come on the Timeshore Store website in the last week, and they've all sold within the day. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be when looking for that perfect contract. Just weigh all the pros and cons of every BCV contract you see, and eventually the perfect one will come along!

When you say stripped do you mean no 2004 or 2005 points available....if so...I'd say $72 a point is way over valued...I think $68 is probably a better price.....Even DVC can't resell it until 2006 if it is stripped so it really doesn't have any value there either...

I think $72 is to high a price for a stripped contract. IMHO

I agree that it would seem logical for stripped contracts to be sold at a lower price, but who knows what Disney's logic really is? Jaki (at A Timeshare) said she had ROFR exercised last week on a BWV contract, $71 pp, no points until October 2005.

Who was playing closing on that deal?

Lori,

Jaki did not say nor did I think to ask -- all our correspondence has been through quick little e-mails rather than the phone! I could shoot her another e-mail if you'd really like to know.

Thanks, but not necessary. Like you, we're wating on ROFR, and our contract is a BWV contract, with hardly any 2004 points left. So, this contract not making it through, with no 2004 points left was very similiar and could have been a good indicator whether my contract will make it through or not.

If people are looking for BCV or BWV contracts, the site I used has 3 and 5 contracts available respectively. I don't know what the point availabiliy, but mine had all 2004 and 2005 intact. I bought 300 pts at BCV in June and everything went very smoothly and closed within a month of initial contact. The site is vacationonly.com I worked with Jerome.
