Hi all.

as I'm now all 'passed up' am planning a break in the 1st week of the Xmas hols. Mon 19th-Wedn 21st December.

Searching for the cheapest way to do this and a colleague who travels to europe a lot for business conferences rec Accor Hotel Group.

Closest to DLP this will be eith Addagio Aparthotel at £86 per night or Etap at Val de Europe at £51 a night for these dates.

Will be travelling with the 2 princesses obviously 11yo and 4yo (or she will be by then)

this time going by Eurostar- hopefully, dates not released yet, stopping in London night before and night after.....

Has anyone tried the Etap. How is it for kids ??????????????
TBH only want somewhere to rest our weary bones as plan to max out our time in the parks over Xmas!

any tips/ advice appreciated. Last installment of half term trip report will follow very shortly (maybe tomorrow!) but too busy planning next one! :lmao:

I've stayed there in March.

My room had a small double and a single above it, kind of bunk bed style.
I wouldn't recommend the double for two adults, but I guess you and your younger daughter would be okay.

It was clean and very basic. Can't answer the kids part I am afraid as I was solo.

Thanks Vala, thats really helpful.

Have found Kyriad website offering E71 per night (non negotiable, payment in advance room only, internet rate)

As bedrooms prob better for kids might be a better option, plus we are familiar with shuttle buses now!

Frustrated that can't book till eurostar dates released..... only released up to 7/12 so far!

any advice appreciated........

The hotel itself is a bit basic but clean and new. For a cheap trip it's perfect.

The location is fantastic. It's right next door to the train station at Val D Europe. The trains go every 15mins and take about 2mins to get to Disney.

Note if you do stay there: There are 2 exits to Val D Europe station at either end of the platform. One brings you out in front of the etap and the other is on the other side of town. The exit you want is the smaller one. It's the side that doesn't have an elevator.

I've stayed there with an 8-year old in late November. The advantages are obviously the price, and the proximity and ease of getting back and forward to the parks (its only 5 minutes max on the train, and the hotel is literally next door to one of the train station entrances).

However - the rooms are very small, with ferry-type bathrooms (basically a cupboard in your room with a shower and toilet) and no frills whatsoever. You will have to pay for each of you to take the train - that would be more than 13 euros based on a carnet of 10 tickets (so 4 journeys each way for each of you would cost more than this) and you'd need to factor this into your cost when comparing with an onsite or offsite hotel with free transport.
We were happy enough there for one night before moving to a Disney hotel next morning, and would do that again, but personally I wouldn't have a whole trip staying there - you would be falling over each other. Oh, and I was very cold in bed the night we stayed at the Etap, so I'd ask at reception for extra blankets in December (I think they use storage heat for the rooms at the hotel).

Usually in September Expedia start advertising onsite room only which covers the winter months - ie Santa Fe or Cheyenne for around £55 per room per night. It might be worth waiting until then to book, see what Expedia comes up with :).

Thanks Elaine!

I did not realise could to DLP room only over winter with Expedia! WOW!

I will prob try and sit on my hands for a bit then but GRRR its HARD!

maybe will have to content myself with planning family holiday in wales in Caravan (RAIN RAIN +RAIN) in August and finishing my half term TR!!!!!

Anyone out there do this last year? Book DLP hotel room only on Expedia over Xmas school hols? How much did you pay?????

Cheers!

If you are taking the RER you can get a carnet at -50% for a child under 10 and over 4.

Under 4's travel free ;)
