We are driving down next Wednesday(checkin at AKL the next day) night after work and the drive is about 6.5 hours. That will put us in at around 11-12. Can anyone recommend a hotel in the 50-60 dollar range that we can crash at overnight? I was looking at the Hampton Inn on I-drive but I will take other options.

If you're not picky about which hotel you end up with, I would get on Priceline or Hotwire and see what you can get a 4star for (probably less than $50-60). I've never had a bad stay in a 4star, and you might be pleasantly surprised about where you end up. :)

The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista (formerly the Royal Sun) has rates right now mid-week for about $65. Not a bad spot. Right next to DTD.

We used the Hoteltonight app on our phone on Saturday and got the celebration suites for $45 and we had a $25 credit - so we paid $20. If you use the code CMANGIO you can get a $25 credit also.

The other option is to pick up one of the books at the rest areas after you enter Florida and they have coupons for inexpensive lodging. We normally do that when we do road trips.

Good luck and have fun!

I booked the Baymont Inn and Suites on Black Lake Road (near AKL) for about $50 using AAA. It's a remodeled Holiday Inn with continental breakfast and we had a great one night stay there before we moved onto property for our May AKV stay. The rooms have a frig and microwave.

why would you want to pay to rent a room somewhere when you can get another night in AKV? a studio for just 9 points. if you are short on points, try look for last minute rental, sometime you can get some really cheap bargains!

I'd do that or priceline using biddingfortravel.com to get an idea of expectations.

TLPL Only because we are getting into town later around 11pm. I wouldn't want to use 9 points for just sleeping.

But my way of thinking is, let's say 1 point worth $10, 9 points is like $90, if you are planning to spend $50-$60 in a hotel, after tax and possibly parking, you are like saving maybe $25-$40 maybe? But you still have to check in that hotel for 1 night, check out the next day before 11am, homeless fpr a few hours until check in again at AKL after 4pm. If you just add that extra night, for sure the room will be ready when you arrive that night, you go the sleep, and wake up and find yourself in Disney World already, you have the whole morning plus the entire afternoon to enjoy in the resort. that 9 points don't just get you just a few hours to sleep, but also those few hours between the normal check out time and check in time. No need to wait for room to be ready. :confused3 that's how I see it.

And some of us have limited points and would rather save them for a bigger family trip, or multiple visits when we can get a clean room for only $50. We didn't get to the hotel until after 8 pm, and it's not a big deal for the two of us to wait until DVC to settle in, unpack, and fill the frig.

And our room was ready about 2:30 while we were at Epcot F & G!

Never stayed there but I keep hearing about the Monumental Hotel as being an exceptional value in that price range.

also, its a few bucks more, but you could consider a value resort, especially if you have an AP, or book on a date eligable for a room only discount. That should be somewhere in the $80 range. I know an AP discount puts you at $66 some nights.

The big advantage? You can have your baggage valeted from the value resort to your dvc resort. makes for an easy morning compared to transferring hotels outside the world..... just an option.

Moved to Orlando Hotels Board from DVC-Planning

Just checked Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista (great reviews on t advisor) and there is a $63 rate on there right now. You just need to use the hilton honors number 5600041604 to get it. If you are not a H Honors member simply sign up online and the rate will be good to go! We may stay here for a night in a month. I've already reserved the room just in case.

I just got back from a week at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista and it was great. Gone are the horrible red bed spreads and Wyndham is renovating like crazy. It's a great value and I highly recommend them.
