Have been considering DVC for a long time now. Just two adults here her love to go about 3 - 4 times per year usually Sat-Wed. We live in florida and sometimes plan within 90 days out. I truly love the location of the soon to open BCV. IMHO it looks like it will have the best of both worlds. Being close to Epcot/MGM, our favorite parks, and being alittle off the boardwalk and access to Stormalong Bay. We have always loved Yacht & Beach club. I can see why people would enjoy OKW but just not for us. So......Now its buy resle BWV resale, when available and at no significant discount or WL now from Disney. I am tired of watching the prices rise while I "ponder". Any FL residents here who own at a resort that they don't really stay at allot? I was told to buy the cheaper dues properties and just make resv 7 months out. We do always go on off seasons. If I buy at WLV make all resv at 11 months and then call to change to BCV at 7 months, does this work well. Or should I just wait? :jester:

IMHO if you want to be in the BCV/BWV area, I would buy there. Take what I say with a grain of salt because I am a newbie. However, I have been lurking in the shadows of this board for a while. The general opinion is; Buy where you plan to stay.

If you are looking from a price point, the BWV may be better than the BCV when it comes out. The buzz is the BCV will be in the $80.00 price range.

If you are interested in BWV, determine what you would pay for BWV as a TOTAL (include price per point, closing costs, and dues). If you have a price that you feel is acceptable, and you would purchase that product, do not wait because chances are it will not be there if you wait too long. Especially with BWV.

An example is: Yesterday a BWV contract was posted on Timeshare Broker web site for 150 points @ $71.00 pp. It vanished in a very short time.

A second example: I wanted an add on @ OKW. I decided what I would pay and how many points I wanted. An email mailing list I subscribed to sent me a message about a 100 point @ OKW. It met my price parameters. Within two minutes of receiving the email I purchased the contract.

This approach came after missing the boat by waiting to factor what I would spend.

I have called MS regarding ressies within 7 months for various dates at BWV and didn't have much luck. It could have been my dates I was looking for too. Again, bear in mind I am a newbie and everything I say should be confirmed with a seasoned vet.

Best of Luck!

hi JimmM: welcome to the board. the prevailing mantra here is "buy where you plan to stay". we own 2 contracts at bwv and just love the location. this is all personal preference. the waitlist doesn't always come through, but it has a little over half the time for us. another point to consider- many of our dvc members also go during the "slow" seasons due to point costs and crowds. we also liked the regular wl and thought about staying at vwl. if you have a car, that's not so bad. i still like bwv's location over everything. that's something you guys will have to decide for yourselves.

Hello All,

Just came back from the Disney Magic cruise and attended the timeshare presentation and is very interested in the vacation club. I currently am a member in a vacation club, but I love the Disney cruise and see myself going often. In fact, already booked the next cruise.

I signed up for the timeshare, but didn't receive the contract yet. Since I lived in Central Flordia for over 10 years and my son is now 12 years old, I don't see myself going to Disney Parks every year. After going over 200 times (was season park ticket holders for 8 years), once is a while is OK for me. I was talked into the WL :D for 150 points since I already own a week with my other club and is already a member of Interval International.

On the cruise they were willing to back date to March, so once I sign the contract I will have 150 points and get 150 points each March. Is the WL a good choice for me and my son? I have never stayed at any of the Disney resorts, since I lived only 35 minutes from the parks when I lived in Florida.

TIA,

Linda:jester:

I think the VWL is a fine choice. We just did an add-on there. It's got a really great atmosphere, as does the boardwalk. Remember, with your 7 month window you can book at BWV or OKW too, or even hop over to Vero Beach if you don't want to hit the parks.
On the other hand, your son is 12 and might want the more stimulating BWV atmosphere. However, you can only get that right now through resale or waiting for BCV to open--and you can bet that cost will be higher than $75 a point at that time. (I paid $67 last July for BWV and $72 in June just before the price increase for VWL.)
Remember, the parks are always changing and you might spot something you've never seen before--just this fall they are redoing all the parades except Spectromagic, since that's only been back since April. And wherever you stay, your son, or you, or both can bring a friend and you can still get by with a studio.

JimmM, I know it is a good idea to buy where you want to stay most, but that is so you can make reservations at 11 months. If you are only making reservations 3-4 months in advance, I don't think it will matter as much which resort you have as your home resort. We've had no problem making reservations at 7 months, 2 1/2 months, and just 3 days in advance. You will just need to be flexible with your dates and resort. If you don't think you will be making reservations between 7 and 11 months out, you may want to buy at VWL before the price increases again.
