We have a Mac and we like it a lot. Good luck on your search for the perfect stroller. :goodvibes

For all those "helpful" people who think the OP should start training her kid for the NYC marathon keep in mind that some children simply cannot take the Florida heat. We hardly use a stroller at home -except for the baby- and we have very young children. WDW is a whole different ball of wax. The heat knocks them out very quickly. Without the shade and rest of the stroller they get sick and simply cannot do very much. Now before anyone starts up on their soapbox about how we should just take rests we do take rests. However with 5 kids (and a Mom who also cannot take the heat:rolleyes1 but does it anyway because she loves WDW) if we "rested" every time someone couldn't walk we would just spend the day sitting on a bench! The stroller lets the kids recoup while we get to the next attraction.
I hate when people say "Strollers are for babies!" Well last I checked making comments like that usually is something kids might say and not adults.
OP- have a great trip and don't worry about what anyone has to say. You know your child. :cutie:

Very well said. I totally agree. If we took rest when our DD needed to just sit, it could be a long day of nothing. On the other hadn, sometimes it's DH and I who need to sit and she runs in circles while we rest. LOL!

Now that's a great idea. Of course you also have to figure in how much it costs to check it as luggage. I might be better of renting from Orlando Stroller since I am flying.

We always gate check ours as well .It's actually been helpful at the airprot when I get luggage. DH has gone to get the car and I stack some of the bags in and on the stroller and DD and I pull the remaining ones.:cutie:

I'm not sure why people equate having to walk WDW with the Bataan death march. It is a theme park, for heaven's sake, it is fun!

...in defense of the anti-stroller people, this is the budget board, and we are talking about a $200 stroller for a child who probably doesn't really need it.

I did list my needs, but thats OK, if you don't agree. I don't feel like I am wasting money. If I rent a single stroller at Disney for a week, it will cost me close to $100, a double (for extra space ) close to $200. I also have 2 nieces and this stroller may be passed on or borrowed by my sister if she needs it, especially since one is 6 and they are planning to go the world again in the next year, and said they definately will be taking a stroller for each child. So again, that would be another $100 (or 2) saved from rental.
And I am also a mother of a 18 and 21 year old. As much as I hate to say it, I could be a grandmother in the next 5-10 years, and this stroller would/could be used for them as well. If I decide to sell it, then I will get some of the money back. I may also sell my 2 other strollers as well. One I bought just for trips a few years ago and has been wonderful, but has a lower weight limit. The other is a whole travel system, so I could make some money back that way.

most airlines let you gate check a stroller for free. No need to pay the luggage fee. I to have a small 6 year old that will walk 99% of the time but I want to take a stroller just in case. I ordered the Maclaren Volo off of Ebay for $70 with free shipping. There is a seller that sells last years model for this price. When we get back I can sell it to a consignment store or on craigslist and get at least $50 for it. Its worth it for me just to have as a back up if needed. I have a very athletic child but even she has limits.

I was looking at those $70 ones. Really tempted, but after trying it out at the store, I felt it would be better bang for my buck to go with the quest, since it was so much easier for me to push her. (thats just us though, we did like the Volo too) If it was a year ago, I wouldn't have debated though. ;)

As for a day trip to the zoo. We have a membeship. We also visit other zoos through out the year. Some Zoo's are very big, or hilly. My DD, for the most, part walks, and thats fine, but on really hot days, she will sit more often and drink a cold beverage. Some trips the stroller is used for storage only, but thats fine with me. I don't have a problem pushing it.

She's healthy. And walks alot. We do several trails at the metropark and she has no problem. Sometimes she skates or rides her bike there too. We also live on a huge property (we're dairy farmers), so we walk alot just in our own back yard. To each his own.

And by the way, when DD was 2 and we went to Disney, she walked almost the while entire trip. I think we made her go in the stroller on busy times leaving and one day when she almost fell asleep standing. She can do it, but it did slow us down alot too.

Sorry, at age 5, I would be ditching the stroller entirely, and having the child walk. Certainly, I wouldn't be looking to spend a couple hundred dollars on one to last a few more years!

What we found helpful was to do "Disney conditioning" for a few months prior to vacation. We took our kids on walks--we went to the local HS and did the track. My younger DD could walk 3 miles when she was 3yo. Obviously, we worked up to that, but it was very easy. And at 3, she still used a stroller for Epcot (but nothing else).

We go to WDW again next summer, and our youngest will be 5. We are looking forward to having a stroller-free trip. It's amazing how much time, money, and space they take up!

You are seriously NOT doing your child any favors by pushing her around all day. Frankly, I'm stunned that you don't already encourage walking. No kindergartener I know wants to ride in a stroller--they're for babies.

You sounds like one of those parents that your kids friends and the neighbors love to laugh at...

Well actually I didn't even buy the Quest. LOL! I foudn one online at BRU that holds 70 lbs, but looks comparable to the Quest. So I ordered it, will give it a try and if i don't like it, it will go back and I will get a quest. ;)

I'd be laughing more at a kid that should be walking being pushed around in a baby stroller. I wonder what happens when the kindergartener goes on a class trip. Will the stroller come out then too to push them around? The classmates will love that one :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:
