Response- How are the kids supposed to get there then?

My sister in law has made the following comments about our disney vacations..


"It's sooo middle class"
"It's sooo unsophisticated"
"how could you take children so young there? They won't have any fun or remember anything"
I'd like a snappy comeback too.... It can be mean.

I love going to disney... i have gone other places, but I really like going to disney.

I posted a comeback to this earlier, but then I thought of a better one:

Middle class? She's got to be kidding! Does she have any idea how much some of the hotels can cost?!? Or how much food can be at some of the table service restaurants?

Oh yeah, the Grand Floridian is just sooo unsophisticated.

Those are kind of snobby statements. Obviously, she hasn't been there.

My standard response to all the questions about why I'm going to WDW again:

I love it and I can't get enough of it.

I just sort of smile to myself...and think, "Well, one less person in the crowd for me to contend with."

As for what little kids get out of it, I just think of my nephew, who had a language delay. Each time he went to Florida, WDW, and Epcot in particular, his language skills made a huge leap forward. Two of his favorites was the Imagination play area, and the sensory play area (no longer open, near "Body Wars"). Now he's a straight A student who loves learning. For me, just thinking of him is enough to make me forget about any rude comments.

I once had a relative say she couldn't understand why I liked Disney so much when it was nothing but fantasy and make-believe. I told her that's exactly why I did like it. We all deal with "real life" everyday...the bills, the traffic, the crime, the horrors on the news, etc. I think we could all use a little more fantasy and make-believe in our lives.

Great answer! Some people just don't see the "big deal" of it. Loving Disney is kind of like believing in Santa Claus. Dreams and fantasy are things that I need in my life to keep me same. Everyone needs something to believe in. The magic of Disney sure does help!
