Looking for a scenic route between Hartford and Providence

I can't recall what the secondary road is to 91 so I'll just go with that. Take it down to the New Haven 95 exchange and go N until you reach Branford. Now switch to Route 1N and follow until it meets up with Route 14N which won't be until well past Westerly, RI after which you go back to I 95 N and enter Providence.
Consider this a tour of the shoreline, complete with rock fences (the styles change as you move along), pre Colonial houses and glimpses of the Sound and Atlantic.

For a tour through CT's midlands that includes the Valley to Providence hop on the Merritt Parkway. I need to do something IRL so will come back with that possibility.
ETA: I suspect I was thinking of a start somewhere else when I suggested the Merritt from Hartford. Sorry!

Try this possibilities instead for a variety of scenic routes:

Should be easy enough to connect your start to your end by also looking at a full traffic map of the states in question.

Any suggestions:)
Take Highway 2 from Hartford until in intersects with I395 in Norwich. Take that down to I95 and take the first exit you can to Highway 1. That will become Highway 1A. This will eventually meander its way back up to I95 just outside of Providence.

By taking this route you will see a lot of small town New England and most of it is 2-lane roads. Have fun :-0
