Looking for a home for 2 wonderful cats..Update: The boys have a home!

Rainbowbrite - I wanted to send you a PM but I don't think you get them.

I just wanted to let you know that i've known BnB's Mom through this site for many years and I know she is an animal lover and would give these cats a very loving, safe home with lots of attention. She gets a very high letter of recommendation from me.

I do get PMs and check them as soon as I see them :)

I have no doubt at all that BnB would be a great new owner for the boys. I'm just worried about the FIV because Max and Sage WILL be all over her cat trying to play. They absolutely love other cats. However, I think I'm on board. Now I just need to convince DW to agree...

ETA: I did it! She agreed :) If BnB is still on board, It's a go...

Just found this on Craigslist...it was posted yesterday. I think you can search for it using the Posting ID below. Looks like it might be a good fit for Max and Sage.

Looking to adopt a cat or a pair of cats (siblings, bonded pair) UNDER a year old, but not too young.

Ideally looking for a cat that has been neutered already and up to date on vaccines, though if under 6 months I understand about it being too young to be neutered.

I do have a young child, so hopefully the cat has been around kids.

I am looking for a male cat/kiten.

Please send a detailed email and possibly a picture of your kitty.

I am not looking for a feral cat or a timid cat. I just put down my cats of 20 years and 8 years. Both were feral or semi feral and we never friendly lap cats. Even after 21 years my senior cat prefered to just sit and watch everyone. As much as I loved those little ferals of mine I promised my husband a more family friendly kitty.

We own our house. I am 27 my husband is 32. We both work.

Sorry! Just noticed your update. I hope it all works out. Sounds like she really wants Max and Sage. Hopefully, we'll get regular updates here on the DIS!!

Aw, shucks, thanks for the vote of confidence, Hillary!

Rainbow Brite--we're good. My DH would be willing to meet up with you guys today, if that would be okay. I will PM you with contact information.

P.S. I would be happy to post updates and pictures and all.

I'm so happy! I really, truly love those cats (from the pictures and stories!) I am glad they are finding a home. I look forward to pictures and updates.

Dianne

I'd be suspicious in that this Craiglist poster didn't specify why she "put down" two cats seemingly at the same time, other than they were feral!

I've adopted both a stray FIV boy and a feral mom(found with four kittens).

My FIV boy lived with "lap cats" for 5+ years, until his passing several years ago.:sad1:
My vet stated as long as there was no fighting, it would be highly unlikely that he would infect our other cats.

My feral is a little love. She had her babies in a hollowed tree stump in the woods behind our house.

Our dog found them in April of 08, the day after my 20 yr. old cat passed away. :sad1:

I brought the week old babies into the house and caught mom using a "Have a Heart" trap.
The babies were adopted at 12 weeks of age and I "adopted" mom. She has been spayed and microchipped. Her transformation has been like night and day. Though she won't let us pick her up(we do occasionally pat her), she's one of the gang, behaving just as the "tame" family members do!

There's always hope in every situation!

That wouldn't really have been a good home for Max & Sage anyway....Max IS timid. He is definitely not a lap cat, though he may become one over time when he learns to trust his new owner. They are not fixed, have never seen a vet and have never been around small children. But thank you :goodvibes

I'm so excited! I wish the boys could go to their new home today, but DW and I have to go out of town to visit FIL for his birthday. We will have to endure another week of no sleeping but I'll just keep reminding myself that after next week I won't have 4 cats in an apartment the size of a shoebox.

Yay! So glad this worked out. I thank everyone here for all the support and help you've given me. I have a ton of recent pics of Max & Sage I can upload and post if you guys are interested.

Things have changed and we are going to my FIL's tonight instead so...we are meeting BuzznBellesMom's husband to bring him the boys! I'm so excited for them. I have mixed emotions because I know I will miss them so much, but I also know they need to go to a home of their own.

DH left half an hour ago to meet up--it's a bit of a drive, but we don't mind. We're so excited to be getting them and introducing to our family! Luckily, there's plenty of love to go around in this house.

This will work well, too, because it's the start of the school week--the house will be quiet, mostly, during the day, so the guys can adjust to me and the house. I'm sure they'll find some quiet nooks and crannies for Sage to acclimate in. And we have a (comparatively) large space, so plenty of room for shenanigans, too.

I realized as I was trying to send a PM I wasn't signed in yesterday, oops!

I am so thrilled to hear the latest update. What wonderful news for everyone.

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

awww....glad it's gonna work out.

We have one "scaredy-cat" and one normal cat. They're brothers, so they've always been together. We have seen so much progress with the scaredy cat, so we hope that, with age, he'll get more comfortable.

Good luck, BuzznBelle'smom.

Small update...

Max and Sage arrived safely in Keene half an hour ago. DH brought the carriers straight down to the basement, so they could find the litter boxes. They have been exploring--they came up and found the food area, but went back down to the basement. I set up their bear (that thing is huge!) in the family room for now, along with their bed and other things. We put Frazzle outside for now.

The kids are completely in love with them. We keep reminding them to go slow, etc. DS3 tried to climb into the kitty tent. DD6 has told everyone, repeatedly, that the teddy bear will move to HER bed tomorrow night (I felt it best to have it on the couch tonight, let the kitties settle in at their own pace, and not HAVE to be by a person to get to their lovey, KWIM?). These kitties are so loved and so wanted!

I will update again in a few days. They still have to acclimate, they'll be going to the vet tomorrow, etc., so I really want to get to know them better, but they are so sweet. And I have to say a huge "THANK YOU" to RainbowBrite from all of us--we are all just so thrilled to have the boys in our home! Well, maybe Frazzle, not so much, but he'll come around. Thanks again!

What a wonderful ending! I have been following this thread ever since it started. We all have so much to be thankful for with Thanksgiving just around the corner. I hope to see more of Max & Sage.. I think they should have their own thread so we can watch them grow!:goodvibes

We need more threads like this on the DIS....:worship:

:thumbsup2 I love a happy ending!

I do hope to see some updated pics of Max and Sage when they get settled in their new home! :)

Thank you so much for this update! DW and I both cried as we drove away, but we know this is absolutely for the best. I am so glad to hear that they're settling in well and that the kids love them. They are sweet boys and I know they will enjoy having so many people around to give them love and attention. I don't anticipate the vet finding anything wrong tomorrow but please let me know how it goes.

BuzznBellesmom, I want to thank you so much for opening your heart and your home to my babies. I know they will be so happy with your family.

Oh, and I agree with the poster who said we need a Max & Sage thread ;)

What a wonderful ending!!! So happy that Max & Sage have a new happy home!!! :cloud9:

What a wonderful ending. Thanks for opening up your hearts and home to these two precious babies!

"I wike Sage!" --DS3

The boys are doing well. They didn't eat their evening food--we'll try again later. I didn't want to leave it down, as Frazzle was very interested (he got his own, of course, but he doesn't get to be piggy!). The boys are exploring the house. I don't know if they've been upstairs yet. Max is definitely shy, but interested, and has the most beautiful coat. Sage is more friendly, for now.

RainbowBrite--DH mentioned that it seemed very hard for the two of you to give the boys up. I hope that it gets easier with time. Our pets are family members, too. I'm not anticipating any vet issues, I just want to get them in there as soon as possible.

I will try to post pictures--I know DD14 took one of Sage, as she told everyone on Facebook and had to post a photo, but I don't think she got one of Max yet. Hopefully in the next day or two.
