We hardly ever go to the movies as it's too expensive with a family of five. But I feel like it today (it's rainy and 50 degrees out). So...

What's a sure winner for 3 kids ages 5, 7 & 9? I was looking at Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... any thoughts? March of the Penguins? Any others that were a sure win with your kids?

THANKS!

My kids loved both Charlie and The March of the Penquins. Are both still out in your theatres though? If so, you cna't go wrong with either of these...but Penquins was my favorite. Its such a beautiful movie...my kids were captivated fromt he moment it started until the end (where their mother was sobbing beside them.....I am SUCH a sap when it comes to animals, and this story of these penquins is so lovely...).

How about "Wallace and Grommit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit."

We saw it last night and it was really funny. Appropriate for kids, too.

We went to see Wallace and Gromit last night. Both my kids liked it, but my oldest is 5. I am planning on getting March of the Penguins on video. I don't think my 5-year-old could sit through it in the movie theater.

Are either of those even still in theaters?? I haven't seen March of the Penguins, but the reviews I read didn't look promising for younger kids (some death, hunting, etc). My DS (7 1/2) loved the Chocolate Factory, but he had read the book in school and was really looking forward to it. DD (10) refused to go see it... she thinks it is creepy (she remembers the original movie). I was disappointed with it..... I like the original better. "Wallace and Grommett" looks like a good family movie. Also, "Oliver Twist" is currently out.

When all else fails try renting something you haven't seen, make some REAL popcorn (yes, the kind from a pan, not from the microwave!), close the curtains and make your own theater at home. My kids love it when we do this! Let them have a bit of candy or soda you wouldn't normally allow..... that makes it a huge treat!!................P

Yeah, actually both are still up here... Charlie is at the IMAX.

Thanks for the suggestions... I'm sensing a boring day around here if we don't do something!

Charlie is great. Saw it again yesteday.
It is due out on DVD in early Nov.
March of the penguins is good too....but a documentary and a bit sad in parts. (I shed a fe tears  ).
Haven't seen Wallace and Grommett, that is the one I would choose.
