I want to start a cardio workout every other day.....to enhance my toning workouts. I have never done a video work out.....but think I would like to try it. I would appreciate any suggestions. I would like to start with a 15-20 min workout....then buildup.....are there any good vidoes out there......cause to need some sweat in my life!

Have you ever looked at TheFIRM? I love TheFIRM and I have done it for about 5 years. I was in the best shape I have ever been, even in high school when I did their workouts. They are a bit challenging but good once you get the hang of them.

The combine cardio+weights for a very effective workout. I think I own about 30 of the videos.

I gained some weight back when we moved into our new house and put it under remodel, to tired to workout and cook so eating out a lot will do you in. I am back doing TheFIRM again to get back into the shape I was once in.

I am talking cut lines in my arms, nice toned abs and a big reduction in cellulite in the backs of my legs.

I'd like to look into to them....where can I find them??? But at the ripe old age of 49....I've kinda given up on "cut"...but will settle for slim and trim.

TURBO JAM!!! is so much fun!! i was able to order them maybe a yr ago and it is soo much fun. i mean honestly who ever says that their work out videos are fun. she includes so much dance moves/kick boxing moves/"turbo moves". i have to tell you i LOVE it. so i highly suggest that you look into it!:thumbsup2

Do I have to order these videos online...or can I visit my local Wal-Mart? I'm hoping to start ASAP.

They have some videos at Target, I know they have some of the systems with the step and such.

They also have some that don't use any equipment but weights and I have found it at Kohl's and Bed, Bath and Beyond and Linen's and Things. It's a Pink case set. It's a good set.

Borders also has them. I have been contemplating these also. I'm glad to hear that someone has tried them and liked them

We have an exercise video channel on demand on our digital cable. I was able to check out a couple of their videos there. You usually only get one part of the video though so it would only be about 15 minutes long. It is great to see these before you buy though.

I have a friend that used The Firm with very positive results too. I don't have the patience for the learning curve to get the coordinated thing going. I should try again.

I have a Leslie Sansone video, several of them actually. I LOVE her 4 mile walk. It is interval training and I sweat like crazy to that one! It is about 47 minutes, and seems to go so quickly. You can order them online.

I have used one of the Biggest Loser workout DVD's in the past and it's really good. The one I used had 6 different workouts to choose from, starting with a low intensity workout. I started with that workout for about a week and a half and then was able to move on to the harder exercises on the tape.

Good luck :)

I'm going video shopping tomorrow....but a girl I work with has lots of The Firm tapes....and she loves them. She's bringing me a couple on Thurs....so I can check them out. Thanks for the tip. I still also want a more "fun" aerobic video...something really upbeat and less intense.

My favorite cardio workout DVDs are:

1) Kathy Smith kickboxing (my all time favoite - LOVE this one!)
2) Kathy Smith Cardio TimeSaver (two 20 minute workouts, one low impact, one advanced)
3) The Firm Cardio Dance Fusion (fun fun fun!)

Thanks for the great info. I bought a Leslie Sansone video yesterday and did the 1mile workout twice. A friend is bringing me TheFirm video today.....but the kickboxing video and dance fusion sound great. I may just skip over to amazon.com and see what kind of prices they have. Thanks again.....it's such a big help to hear what is working for everyone else.

I know you are looking Cardio, but I wanted to recommend Pilates for Dummies to anyone looking to get started into Pilates.

On the Events/Competition Forum, there is a thread on Core Strength where there are some folks focused on core strength. One of the girls who posts on there recommends the Pilates for Dummies DVD to any of those who can't take classes, but would like to do it at home. She teachs classes at a few gyms in her area.

Good luck finding a DVD that works for you!

My co-worker brought me her Kathy Smith Kickboxing tape today...can't wait to go home tonight and try it!!:thumbsup2

I think The FIRM is a great place to start. The DVDs are effective, but still very doable. I also love TurboJam. Those workouts are high energy and lots of fun with great music.

Have you tried theFirm, Cardio Dance Fusin...I'm kind of interested in that one? How fast paced are theFirm DVD's, cause I'm a real klutz and a newbie at workout DVDs.
I tried the Kathy Smith kickboxing and did not fare very well. Tonight I am trying the basic TaeBo.
